Holla!
One of the best coffees I’ve EVER had!!
Peppermint Creme from Fresh Market. It’s better than you could imagine!!
I normally have half caf and this cup of 100% caf left me shaky from head to toe! I cured that with some power cleaning before I got to work 🙂
I made a mug to warm up this morning – and got out my space heater, which is a POS. I have to sit on top of it to feel warm. I would love your space heater recommendations!!! Anything that rocks your hot socks?
We had another realtor come over today to get a second opinion on our house at noon. By 1:30 I was a starvin’ marvin’ ready for a Hugh Jass!
Romaine with green pepper + carrot plus raisins and the last of BethT‘s nuts! [Everyone go over to Beth’s blog and say "I found your blog because Kath wrote about your nuts!" heh heh. She said it’s happened before!]
The lettuce was drizzled in Fig Balsamic vinegar and lemon olive oil that Larbs got me for Christmas last year. It was my last drop of vinegar!! Luckily I still have some oil left
For a protein source I paired a nice bowl of greek yogurt with some Best Damn Granola and plum jam
Ohhhhhhh yeahhhhhh. I got my fix for salad + yogurt that I’ve been missing all week!
I’ve got a little more work and then I’m headed to class ;( I might need to locate some mittens because it’s freezing in here!! But you know us – we wait until we can’t stand it to turn on central air.
Anne Marie@New Weigh of Life says
The coffee sounds amazing!
stephanie @ foodie mcfood says
Fig balsamic vinegar sounds so good. Gotta find that.
Mary Ann says
Try the EdenPURE Quartz Infared Portable Heater. It only costs about $ .18 – $ .20 an hour to run. Great on those 50 degree days.
Jen (Running With Cake) says
Hi Kath! I love infused vinegars. I have a pomegranate one at home but the fig balsamic sounds wonderful! Best Damn Granola? That’s new. I wonder how they compare with MMG. Have a great afternoon.
Abbey says
I love your placemats! I have the same ones in a deep purple shade. As far as the space heater goes, I would recommend this one (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=259117-1621-5570&lpage=none). My husband and I always wait to turn out heat on (we live in Ohio!). This keeps us nice and toasty once we turn it on too. We bought it 2 years ago and it is still going stong!
Julie says
That coffee sounds delicious.
I love the size of the salad bowl! Talk about hugh jass.
Abby (Abbys Vegan Eats) says
I love everything about Fresh Market.. I love their coffee section, especially the big ol barrels of beans!
Im in NC as well and my space heater has been going all day.. ITS FREEZING!

Joelle (The Pancake Girl) says
That salad looks so great, esp considering I’m starving haha. I want to find some fig balsamic vin too!
Jessie says
My house is freezing too! I When I go home for lunch I turn the space heater on for our dog, and I have her in a doggie fleece so she won’t freeze.
Sarah R says
I love flavored coffees. Yours sounds perfect for the holidays! We have a Holmes Whisper Quiet Twin Ceramic space heater and it works really well. I think we got it at Target a few years back.
Diana says
That salad looks so good Kath. 🙂
Have a good rest of day!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Mmmm… that coffee sounds perfect for a chilly day. And I’m loving your big salad! Perfect ingredients!
I have a quick question for you… I just bought an eggplant today and would like to bake it somehow. Any suggestions for the best method of doing this? Should I cut it into rounds first? or should I just poke holes in the eggplant and cut it after baking? Also, what spices go well with eggplant?
Thanks Kath! 🙂
Light Delight with TouTou says
The salad looks so green ! i love top salad ( or maybe everything) with nuts too, it just a magic tool to turn boring meal into an exciting one!
H-woman says
I couldn’t find a recipe for the nuts on Beth’s blog! What’s a girl to do?
Pam says

That coffee sounds delicious!
brandi says
i finally had my big salad today, too – been waiting for it all week 🙂
I need to find that coffee – I love peppermint everything.
Chrissy says
Kath,
Get a Vornado. It’s a heater fan and you can set the temp. I think mine was about $100 from BB&B but it works like a breeze and heats up a room in a hot second! Love it!
Whitney @ Lettuce Love says
Coffee sounds good right about now. Peppermint always reminds me of Christmas — yeah!
Jasmine (Sweet and Fit) says
I have been craving salads ever since I got back from San Francisco. I am in desperate need of a space heater like that – especially with all this rain this week!
Kristin @ Iowa Girl Eats says
Costco has got this amazing space heater that uses way less electricity than a normal one, and you can set it to heat up a small space, or a whole room. It is BOMB!
Cait (Cait's Plate) says
PEPPERMINT CREME COFFEE?!?! I am so jealous!!
That salad looks pretty delicious too 🙂
Sarah Jayne says
Peppermint Creme coffee? FIG Balsamic Vinegar? Plum Jam? Geeze, Kath, your day is just chock full of gourmet goodies. SOO jealous! Wish I had my full of fun stuff like that!
Delish eats, as always 🙂
Estela @ weekly bite says
I want some of that coffee 🙂
Lizzy says

Lauren @ Eater not a runner says
I wish we had a fresh market up here! Jealous of your coffee!
Natalie says
I recently purchased a LASKO heater that is great! It has multiple temp settings, fan speeds, and it oscillates. Like $39 at Target.
Stephanie says
This is the best space heater – I swear by mine, and they are cheap enough to have one upstairs and down. 😉
Anne says
http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/ I bet the bears will appreciate the “broken promises” commercial! I know this is in response to an older post but hopefully it will still be appreciated 😉
Food Makes Fun Fuel says
I love thiinking to myself “oops, I forgot a protein, I guess I need to add some greek yogurt” when really I just want an excuse for greek yogurt 🙂
Kelly from Bridges and Bites says
As much as I love seeing the food you post about, I also love seeing your plates and place mats. You’ve had so many cool ones throughout the blog!
megan says
We use the Holmes Ultra-Quiet Ceramic Heater – cheap from target! And we LOVE it! I’m slightly addicted to it in the winter and take it into each room with me 🙂
Chelsea says
haha I have that exact same like white and blue dish! I got mine from Ocean State Job Lots!
Katie says
I love that book 🙂 Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 🙂 Love the Hugh Jass annd the fig balsamic sounds amazing!
Lara says
That lunch must have tasted great after the week of heavy indulgent eats!
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I love fancy vinegars. They make the best dressings.
It is strange to hear you talk about it being cold after it being so hot before. Enjoy your evening 🙂
carrie says
Hi. Nice salad. I noticed you said that you added the greek yogurt for protein. Often for lunch I like a large salad with nuts, seeds, beans or legumes, avocado, and bread on the side with more avocado. Is this protein-deficient then? I thought that would be an adequate efficient meal.
Chelsea says
That salad looks yummy. You know those stretchy gloves that you can get really cheaply in the winter? I use them for running-anyway, they’re tight enough that you can type in them =D Like these: http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Stretch-Gloves-Adults-Black/dp/B00025X21M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1258062569&sr=8-2

Hi Kath, I just wanted to say your lunch looks delish! As well congrats for your win over the weekend! I wanted to say thanks to you and some other foodies I have finally been inspired to start my own healthy blog. I’ve wanted to do it for ages and after following yours and a few others it has finally come to life! So thanks your blog is great and i love to read about your fun times and delicious food ideas x x

Hahah to “because Kath wrote about your nuts”!

Presto Heat Dish from Costco! Super cheap and super warm, I’m snuggled up in front of mine right no w 🙂
Tuesday says
I have this baby heater I bought from Target for about 20 bucks (it’s the smallest one you can buy from Holmes). Definitely buy one with a fan, so the heat actually goes further than two feet from the heater.
Shannon says
Used too have the same space heater and I would totally put my feet on it and hover over it to warm up. I think the trick is to have a forced-air heater.
Sammi says
I am jealous of your fancy olive oil! I love that container.. it looks vintage!
I was wondering if you could offer me some advice. About a month or two ago things started to click and I began exercising. I fell in love with it and now I exercise 4-5 days a week. Recently I have been noticing my appetite increasing and I feel like it is getting out of control! My stomach is constantly growling and I can’t seem to satiate myself for more than 2-3 hours. I understand exercising requires more calorie intake but I was wondering if this happened to you when you started and if it wear off once my body gets used to it? I definitely listen to my body and eat when I need to but I’ve never felt this ravenous! If it never goes away maybe I could sign up for Man vs Food? haha
Kristie says
I’m always so I’d probably go crazy if we waited to turn on the heat! That or I’d literally live beside the space heater and not move. Not a fan of the cold at ALL.
However that coffee sounds like a darn delicious way of warming right up! Peppermint flavoured drinks are right up my alley!
AnnQ says
I love Fresh Market! They just opened one by us 🙂
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
i have yet to find a good space heater. when you find one, please share with us!

Tina says
We love oil filled radiator heaters. They are great at heating up big rooms. I even have one at my office-it heats up about 900 square feet nicely.
sarah says
That’s my favorite coffee too!!!! And their Pumpkin Spice… it may be a tie. Oh who am I kidding – Peppermint wins every time!!
Kath says
Heather,
Cut it into cubes and saute or roast. If you click on “eggplant” in my tag cloud you’ll find lots of cooking methods.
H-woman,
They were bought!! She gave them to me when I visited in September.
carrie,
If you’ve got beans, nuts and bread you’re getting lots of protein. My salad just had veggies and a few peanuts, so I added more.
Chelsea,
I need those!
Sammi,
It’s impossible for me to give you any advice without seeing an analysis of your exercise and food intake. But I’d try adding some heft to your meals and see if that helps. If it does, I bet you were just undereating too much.
Kath
Sarah says
I have been wanting to try the Fresh Market holiday coffees! Thanks for the review 🙂
Carolyn says
That salad looks fantastic!! I admire all of you going back to school. I have my Masters and I know I should get my PhD now before kids come into the picture, but I LOVE not having homework.
