^^ This whole week the sky has been like this on and off. I hear there are cosmic things happening with the universe right now. Sarah says there are five planets in retrograde and the largest lunar eclipse of the century tonight. It seems like everyone has been a little on edge! Wooooo woo!
In between the storms, we had an epic neighborhood water balloon fight at our house! These kids crushed 100 balloons in about 2 minutes flat. (Bunch O Balloons was the greatest invention of all time!)
We started the week with a well stocked fridge filled with summer fruits, eggs, and Barney Butter!
I’ve been practicing my mermaid bowl skills with the purchase of some silicone molds! I’m so excited to get creative with this. Blue yogurt + oat sand + coconut butter shells + frosty blueberries!
We had a fancy family breakfast one day for a sponsored post I’m working on. It was fun to set the table so nicely and eat together.
I made a big batch of sun-dried tomato meatballs and have been eating them all week. We had spaghetti and meatballs on Monday night, and Mazen and Thomas had the same the next night when I was celebrating Lynsie’s birthday at Mono Loco.
I had this salad for lunch two days in a row : )
More meatball leftovers!
My sweet boy left today for San Diego where he’ll spend the next TWO WEEKS with his grandmother KK.
This is the longest we’ve ever been apart – sob. Matt is flying out with him and will come home in a week and he’ll have a week with KK alone. He’ll be doing two awesome camps while he’s there that I’ll tell you more about when he’s back. Thomas and I are flying out for a long weekend to bring him home. Mazey and I spent a lot of time together this past week before he left, and I’m going to miss him so much.
This is a photo of him we took on Monday doing a little photoshoot for Abercrombie Kids for an upcoming post. Doesn’t he look so handsome? I’m obsessed with his shirt! All kids denim is 50% off until the end of the month, so hop on it if your little needs some back-to-school jeans!
Have a great weekend!

The weather here in Hong Kong has been the same! One day, it’s rain and thunderstorms, the next day, it’s blistering sunshine. I hope the rain goes away for good this weekend!

That’s so nice Mazen gets to see his Grandma! How is KK doing? I remember she had quite a few health scares with cancer.

This isn’t related to your blog post today, but the blog in general. For several weeks, I’ve been seeing these words at the left margin in faint blue “Kath Eats Real Food” followed by “MY OTHER RECIPES” in black. Today, they appear just above the picture of egg, watermelon and toast. Maybe you want to look at things on your blog that only you can see. 🙂 I love seeing pictures of your food.

Thanks – I think that’s a technical glitch that I will look into!

Mazen will be in my neck of the woods! I live in the north part of the county. It’s been warmer than usual for this time of year, and the ocean water feels great! Hope he will be able to get to the beach.

Thinking of you! I can’t imagine having my baby boy so far away from me!!! He’ll have a blast though and be in good hands. 🙂

I LOVE SanDiego, and Mazen is going to TWO camps while there? Talk about the ultimate summer break! I’ve lost two of my grandparents recently, and it has me reflecting on the special time I got to spend with them as a kid. I know he will look back so fondly on these memories with KK some day :). Plus you get to have a little babymoon in cali! Sounds like a win-win.
P.S. I’m glad KK is going well! Always good to hear.

I’m sorry for your losses

I definitely can relate to this tumultuous weather! We’ve been having on and off storms the entire week – one minute the sun is shining brightly and the next, it’s a torrential downpour! I’m looking forward to hopefully consistent sunshine soon! I hope Mazen has a great time in San Diego!

That’s really awesome those water balloons are biodegradable and recyclable! I totally just added them to my amazon cart for my nephew 🙂
My mom started adding lentils to her meatballs- my parents are omnis and love meatballs, she read it in a magazine somewhere. Basically a can of cooked drained lentils. She swears they can’t even tell they’re in there. (I’m veg so my favorites are mushroom/lentil/walnut.
Mason will have a blast i’m sure. Glad KK is doing well- and new orleans is a great place to visit her!
KathEats says
I didn’t know that! The kids have to pick up all of one color before doing the next so we don’t have any leftover pieces
Janet says
I know you will miss your boy. It’s great that he can go out and visit KK for two weeks. He will have the best time I’m sure. Glad to hear she is doing well.

Two weeks away! That will be tough for both of you, but he’s sure to have a blast!!!
Do you not normally eat at the table as a family, or just for special occasions?
The mermaid bowl looks SO pretty!

I can’t believe how big Mazen has gotten. It seems as though he was just born a couple years ago. And, indeed, he is a very handsom3e boy! I was so impressed by his poise when he made the video showing us the garden.
