Morning all! I was craving good ole hot banana rolled oats this morning, so that’s what we made! We dined in the garden while the sun began to peek over the trees. Very pretty morning.
I bought this Dragon Fruit at Trader Joe’s last weekend to try and opened it today. I took a nibble of one of the pieces and decided it was gross . It tasted like wood or mud or something. So I decided not to risk my oatmeal and moved on to other toppings.
Time for the next flavor of granola planks: Blueberry Vanilla Crisp . I liked this flavor a LOT! More than the maple. It was like having a blueberry crumble topping on the oats! It has a sugary texture, although there isn’t granulated sugar in it. I think that might be the "crisp" part. I also liked the addition of almonds and sunflower seeds.
I also put a few walnuts in, so it’s a blend of the plank + walnuts. Plus a small spoonful PB and flax in the oats:
So this is what the underside of oatmeal looks like!
I liked eating out of a clear bowl, which I found at Crate + Barrrel yesterday and got to add to my oatmeal bowl collection.
Today we’re working around the house, running to the gym for lifting and back, and heading uptown tonight to meet a few friends. I’m hoping to do a KathEats video at lunch so stay tuned!

Loving the new bowl! You get to experience your oatmeal from all angles. XD

Does anyone know if the blog fast fresh and fit no longer is in existence.
I remember cassie stopping before without telling anyone…..I am not sure I understand why she can’t she leave a note that she is not blogging anymore.

Goodness, that Mosaic Table gets me every time! Please tell me where you purchased it! Or who the artist is and I will contact them! Please, my Mom’s birthday is June 25, and this would be the perfect gift for her from my brother and I!
Note: Kath can do MANY an astonishing thing, but who knew she could make a bowl of Oatmeal float in mid air??? (o0o0o0o0ooo) 😉 Quite Amazing!
Question for you + Matt: Have you experimented with marinating fish with tea bags yet? That’s supposed to be so fascinating!
(2) Have you tried making your own frozen yogurt yet with Fage or another Plain/Greek yo? The variations on that could be OUT OF THIS WORLD!
(3) Almond Breeze makes an Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk now that is only 45 kcals per serving (1 cup)… I wonder if this would be cool in your morning Oats with PB?
Might be fun to try! Anyways, just some things I’d been meaning to inquire about, but otherwise have a Wonderful Day and Stay Cool!

Love the bowl! It’s got a great shape 😀
Too bad about the dragon fruit! Not sure what the dried version tastes like, but the normal version is quite delicious! 😀 It’s got a refreshing and sweet taste to it!

Kath,
When you buy your oatmeal bowls do you buy just 1 bowl or a set of 2? Just curious. You’ve actually inspired me to buy different bowls for oatmeal and stuff…what a fun thing to collect!

Whoa, ya’ll got too crazy last night 😉 You would probably cringe at the day we have planned…drinking by the pool..all day! But we are thinking of popping uptown tonight so I’ll give you a buzz if we do! Enjoy the day!!!

Blueberry Vanilla Crisp looks yummy! I can’t wait to try it – I saw they sell it in the NE from their website.
Is it expensive?

Haha – CLEARLY, I get it 😉
I have to second Julz on the unsweetened chocolate almond milk. I’ve been using it in my oats and it’s awesome!!

Sorry about the dragon fruit :0( But hey, that granola sounds like it satisfied your taste buds, along with the oatmeal – yum!!
Have a lovely Saturday!!

Yum! Can’t believe you don’t like the dragonfruit though, I find it pretty tasty. I’ve also seen Celine from Havecakewilltravel post rave reviews about it sometimes, it’s odd how some people can love something and others hate it. Perhaps it’s just not a morning thing? I say give it a try later on.

Kath, I just watched your kale + squash soup video for the first time and I have to say, if you haven’t already, you really really need to try out for the next food network star. You’d be a natural. Plus you already have a name for your show!

Love that bowl … and love your site. I tried pre-cooking steel cut oats like you did last week with great success. I packaged them in individual servings, and then at the office I sliced in a banana and added a little milk to reheat in the microwave … yummy. Thanks for the inspiration for a healthier breakfast.

Julz ,
Thanks for the table compliments. Unfort., it was a gift to my mom from her best friend and I have no idea where it came from. I will ask my mom to ask her, but I don’t know if she can act before your mom’s b-day.
I’ve never heard of marinating fish in tea bags nor have a seen a recipe for homemade frozen yogurt. Need to look into both!
I have had the unsweet chocolate almond breeze but it’s been a looong time. I stopped getting it because it was a little boring unsweetened and I didn’t want to add splenda or sugar. I’m actually not a huge fan of chocolate oatmeal (even though I’ve made it before) so it wouldnt’ become a staple, but it sure sounds creative.
Laurie ,
Yes, I usually get 2. Not really sure why since the husband and I don’t have to match! But two somehow seems like a better collection than just 1 of each.
Amanda,
At Amazon, they are 4 for $17.50 (and that’s 2 planks per box). I’m not sure what they are in stores.

Serena ,
Awww you’re too kind. I haven’t actually ever seen that show? Do normal people try out for it like American Idol? Actually I think I saw the last episode when that girl with the curly hair won? I watched her show once and wasn’t really impressed. I think it’s even off the air now?? But it would be the chance of a lifetime! I’d love to have a cooking show: “Cooking for 2” and have it be about doing gourmet meals for 2 on busy nights when most recipes call for 4-6.
SmilynStef ,
Glad the oats worked well! I’m going to try it with my normal banana oats soon and see how they hold up.
