Our loaf of Great Harvest Cinnamon Chip [100% whole wheat!!!] was calling my name from bed this morning. I woke up starving after last night’s smallish dinner!
I sliced off two small pieces [that’s a salad plate, FYI] and broiled them for toasty crunch. Then added a GRILLED banana (!), a slathering of nut butter and a sprinkle of Lynda’s Granola and flax.
Cinnamon. Toast. Crunch.
Served with green tea. [Bland]
Part of this complete breakfast.
After these messages, we’ll be…riiiiight back!
Molly says
I gasped a little when I saw your breakfast!
shannon says
Hi Kath’!
My aunt sent me (she’s great!) and I love your blog. I hope that you will keep me inspired to eat real food while I diet (again!) and try to lose some pounds.
I will spend some time browsing your recipes, but see how much you love oatmeal. I will have to work it into my weekly diet more. 🙂
Where can I find the tablecloth that you show on the table in this post? It is wonderful!
I’m inspired by you…thanks!
Shannon

Hey Shannon!
The tablecloth is a linen from Oh Little Rabbit’s Etsy Store. Thanks for reading!

Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Your breakfast looks delicious! Cinnamon chip sounds like an amazing flavor of bread.
kate@ahealthypassion says
I loved cinnamon toast crunch as a child and definitely need to try out the grilled banana, sounds delish!
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
GH Cinnamon Chip is one of my favourites.
Stacey says
I love the mason jar linens! I just love mason jars in general. Your breakfast looks and sounds delish.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I agree with you on the green tea… I just can’t bring myself to substitute it for other teas. As Jess at How Sweet Eats would say, it tastes like dirty water to me! Your bread however, sounds absolutely delicious!! I think Great Harvest will be selling loads of that!
Lucy @ The Sweet Touch says
I agree about the tea! Maybe it’s an acquired taste? My husband drinks tea like it’s his job, he just likes the stuff!
megan @ blackberries for jam says
I absolutely love green tea, but I think the key is to buy loose Japanese green tea (Lipton and other popular brands CANNOT make green tea) and to brew it strong so the delicious grassy taste comes through. And no milk or sugar, ever!
Tara says
Yes – second to that. You must buy REAL tea. and brew it right so that the good grassy taste comes out. (if you can drink kale smoothies, you can drink green tea!) then i guarantee you’ll love it.
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
I would really quite like that breakfast. If you could post me over some GH bread, I’d be a happy lady :p
Hannah says
I hate bland tea! I do, however, love cinnamon. Oooh, this might’ve been so good dipped into a creamy latte!
B & B says
Oh my! Yes…
On another note Kath – I was wondering what your recommendations/thoughts are on multivitamins/vitamins/supplements for women. I currently don’t take any…and am wondering if I really should be. I hear so much about improved energy levels, etc.
Thanks.
Jil @ Big City, Lil Kitchen says
Yum!! Mann…there needs to be a Great Harvest within the city of Boston!
Hats @ See How She Runs says
Grilled/fried bananas are to die for. My friend eats them in a sandwich with bacon and honey – I prefer pb and agave. Delicious!

Felicia (a taste of health with balance) says
Hi Kath! Wondering if you could recommend a good beer brewing kit to start off with? I’m looking to get one and I know you and Matt have some expertise in that area 🙂 Thanks so much!
Matt says
Here’s what most people start with:
http://morebeer.com/view_product/15910/102142/Personal_Home_Brewery_%232_-_Deluxe
You’ll also see in the description that you’ll need a pot for boiling, bottles, and a recipe/ingredient pack. You may already have the first two!
Felicia (a taste of health with balance) says
Thanks so much Matt!

I need to find a good bakery – since we don’t have a GH around here.
Or I need to start making bread again….
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
Oh my. I picked up a loaf of GH Cinnamon Swirl (100% whole wheat, too! love that) on Saturday, and made French Toast with it yesterday, per Janet’s recommendation. Yum!

Natalia - a side of simple says
Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Cookie Crisp were two cereals that I always begged my mom to buy when I was young. They sounded amazing to my little self…actually, they still do, especially since I never did convince her that cookies were for breakfast 😉
Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
That fact that you said “part of a complete breakfast” filled my head with the last shot of those commercials, and there would be a stack of waffles, a banana, an apple, a huge glass of orange juice, another huge class of milk, three strips of bacon, 2 fried eggs, and THEN a bowl of the cereal… Even as a child I was like, “WTH?!” Hahaha 😉
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
I thought the same thing! I was always flabbergasted that anyone could have an appetite that big at breakfasttime…or anytime for that matter!! =)
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Oohh, looks great!!! I was obsessed with Cinnamon Toast Crunch as a kid, so I know I’d love this!

lynn @ the actor's diet says
they don’t make jingles like that anymore….
Melissa says
Grilled banana really adds something, doesn’t it? I love how gooey it gets!
The plate looks lovely on that tablecloth, too! I feel like your meals have to taste good when you put them on a pretty plate and set it atop a nice linen like that, you know? The whole experience is nicer. This is the exact reason I need to eat at my dining table more!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Haaaa, what a fun twist on your post to create it like a commercial. So clever, kath!

Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
Just curious, When you eat toast for breakfast, does it keep you full for the same time that you eat your oats?
I love having toast for breakfast and have mashed banana + peanut butter too, but it only keeps me full for about 2 hours. I’m using whole wheat bread too.
KathEats says
Yeah, but I have to have a pretty big portion (like this one). This guy held me over 4 hours

If I had GH Cinnamon Chip bread in my house it would be calling my name 24×7. That is my favorite bread but I can’t bring it home unless it’s for a special occasion because I would eat the whole loaf all by myself. It is seriously good.
Abby says
Mmm. I need to get to a GH in the near future or find one that ships!

The bread looks just wonderful. I will try looking for it at my local GH. Or is it one of the regulars found at GH?

KathEats says
Oh Little Rabbit’s Etsy Store!

I have never grilled bananas before. I will make a mental note to do that sometime.
All the different kinds of breads that you talk about from Great Harvest Bread Company sound so good! I have only ever had one kind of Great Harvest Bread while in college, which was their cornbread.
