Morning. I didn’t sleep very well last night 🙁 My brain was racing all night about all there is to do, and then storms and a tornado watch kept me up around 4-5.
But I realize the storms were much worse in other parts of the country. I hope April is almost finished.
I slept in late and had a phone call before I could get to breakfast, so it was late coming!
Cinnamon Banana Dough Boy Smoothie!
Read abou the Dough Boy Smoothie here!]
Put in blender last night:
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup Banana Mango drinkable yogurt
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Pinch salt
- 2 sprinkles cinnamon
- 1/3 cup raw rolled oats
This morning:
Blend away!
This version was more liquidy than doughy – I’d cut back just a bit on the milk next time.
Toppings: Crumbled FANNEtastic Oat Puff Ball + coconut butter + a few small PB crumbles
With Numi Moroccan Mint
Forgot to post these bakery shots last night!!!

I’ve got 5 back-to-back phone interviews to do this morning. I’m nervous!!
Have a great one!
Ann @ Day by Day says
I was up a lot of the night Tuesday night with the weather too. I can’t believe how much damage was done, especially in Alabama. 5 phone interviews makes for a very busy morning! I hope they go very well!
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Man, crazy weather everywhere this week!!! It definitely makes for poor sleep, that’s for sure!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
The bakery is looking great! The “bread” is really cool. 🙂
Lauren says
Good luck with the interviews! These storms are really terrible, so many people are dying, it’s tragic…
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Sorry about the sleep. I had the same problem. I was terrified all night last night! Good luck on the interviews! I know you’ll do great!
Lisa Fine says
Hearing about all of those storms is so scary.
I tried a dough smoothie, but I think mine needed more liquid. Something about it was too thick, so I’m going to keep adjusting the proportions.
The interviews will be great – just think, they’ll be much more nervous than you, and for a good reason. You get to make the decisions. 🙂 Good luck!
Dee says
oh yikes! tornado warnings would have kept me up all night too.
CJ Weaber says
The bakery looks like it’s really coming together!! I have never commented before but I am
A long time reader and I am always very inspired by your posts. I actually had my first great harvest experience this weekend as I enjoyed a morning glory muffin and my husband devoured nearly half a loaf of Easter bread! Hopefully we can visit your store sometime this summer! Good luck finishing everything up!
KathEats says
Thanks for your comment! glad you got to try GH 🙂
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I love the bakery shots. How exciting!
I tend to sleep really well when it storms. Sure I wake up a million times, but when I am asleep it seems to be really deep sleep.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Our weather has been crazy here too – apparently there may have been a tornado that touched down right outside of where I live but I was in my office all day (no windows) so I was completely oblivious to the fact that it was storming! Breakfast looks amazing this morning. I haven’t tried the dough boy smoothie yet but banana and cinnamon are 2 of my all time favourite ingredients!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
Ooh I heard about the storms on the radio this morning – it sounds like they were pretty bad 🙁
It seems like the bakery colours match your blog colours! Was that on purpose? They’re beautiful colours either way – very welcoming 🙂
Melissa says
Don’t be nervous! You will be fantastic!
Cinnamon and banana make my heart happy. Unfortunately, I am nursing a sore throat, so it’s a cup of broth for breakfast today. Not exactly breakfast-y, but it’s the only thing that sounded good! 🙁
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
I think parts of Clt were hit with the storm last night, but it passed us over down on the SE side of town. I really hope this windy weather is finishing up, too. We are looking to put our new gazebo up this weekend (the last one was destroyed by wind about 6 wks ago!). I don’t want the new one to meet the same fate, but I’m tired of living without it!
Breakfast looks great… mine is rather bland this morning for some reason. (Oatmeal with fresh local strawberries. Should be good… but it definitely needs something!).

Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
The bakery is looking amazing!
of course that dough boy smoothie doesn’t look too bad either 🙂
Lauren at Keep It Sweet says
Wow, the bakery is looking great!
Christine @ Merf In Progress says
With the wind and the storms outside right now, I think a cup of mint tea would hit the spot.
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
It so neat to see the bakery coming together!! I can’t wait til it’s finished!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
That breakfast looks so good!!! Making me seriously consider “second breakfast”! lol
stacey (the home-cooked vegan) says
My boyfriend woke me up at 3 am so we could round up the animals and head next door to his work place for safety! It was crazy weather!! We didn’t get it as bad as Alabama and some other parts of the U.S. thank goodness…
Let’s hope May is a calmer month! 🙂 have fun interviewing!
kaila @ healthyhelper! says
OMG what an amazing combo! Cinnamon and banana are great together! Especially in creamy smoothies! I made my first dough boy smoothie the other day….so this will have to be the second variety I try!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says

Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
Bakery is really coming along! Lovin’ the color scheme.
Lucy @ The Sweet Touch says
Kath, the pictures look great! Just remember, it might still be another month or two but it won’t be long before you can look back on all of this and be soooo happy you pushed through to reach your goals. You two are doing a great job!
Katie says
Is there a trick to getting out of the photo slide show? Have tried everything and usually end up just closing my browser all together, which is completely annoying. It happens on both firefox and IE.
Jessica says
Katie-
just click the full sized picture again and it goes away.
KathEats says
In Chrome there’s a button for “return to photos” from the slideshow. But clicking the photo should work ?
Katie says
Tried everything but that! 🙂 Thanks!
SquatLikeALady says
Ouch! The weather has really been absolutely nuts. Here’s hoping it clears up soon and everybody gets some well-deserved rest!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Yay for tons of pictures of the place! I love seeing the progress!

Allison K. says
I know I posted about interviewing people earlier this week but…I get nervous when I interview people via the phone as well! I’ve done 9 interviews in the past two days. I am no longer nervous when I interview someone in person (I’ve been interviewing and hiring seasonal staff for 5 years now) but I still get nervous when I interview someone over the phone!
The first year that I hired people, I did all of my interviews via the phone, and one of the gals I ended up hiring, totally dropped the f-bomb in her interview! I wasn’t sure if I had heard her correctly, as we were both on cell phones, and the connection was pretty bad. I took a chance, and hired her, she ended up being great. 1/2 way through our season I asked her if I had heard her correctly. She said she HAD said the F-word, and was so embarrassed and mortified, she hoped I hadn’t noticed.
KathEats says
Ha- glad she worked out great!
Nicole says
I bet you’ll end up enjoying the interviews–it’s really about figuring out if the person can do the job and has a good personality!
Khushboo says
Looks like you made up for yesterday’s absent banana 😀
Andie says
Hope the day flies for you and that you can get in a restorative and lovely walk. Call your mom 🙂
lynn @ the actor's diet says
there is soooo much numi tea on the set of the movie i’m working on right now – i am drinking that mint flavor literally 4x a day!
Silvia @ skinny jeans food says
Wow, the bakery is coming together fast! looks like you will be ready to bake some test bread for your own consumption soon!
Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me says
Can you believe these storms!?! Very scary! I can’t believe the death toll and the destruction. And it’s so early in the season. We have months and months of storms ahead of us.
Chelsea says
I am so excited for the bakery coming together!! I hope the storms don’t blow you guys away, I know they are going to bad today! My family in Williamsburg said things have been bad since last night!
Alaina says
I always wake up before a storm. Never during; it’s always the moment before the first boom of thunder. I can never sleep through them.
Glad to see the bakery is coming along so well!
Hope says
The weather is so terrible everywhere. I feel so horrible about people who have been affected by this storm.
That smoothie looks so good! I need to get a blender. I keep telling myself this! These smoothies look way too good to pass up! The bakery is looking great! 🙂 Good luck with the phone interviews!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Sorry about your crummy sleep! We’ve been getting crazy weather here too. As I was driving back from the gym this morning I saw two huge pine trees that had been knocked over during our storms!
Namaste Gurl says
Mmmm, looks delicious– I tried the strawberry dough boy version and it was out of this world yummy! 🙂
I had Ashley’s strawberry buckwheat bake this morning- but I wrecked it by adding hemp protein powder 🙁
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
Yeah, we got hit hard. I spent most of yesterday in a closest under the stairs. And now we’re without power for 4-5 days. I want a smoothie! Think I could blend it by hand??? 😉
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
There is crazy weather everywhere! I keep hearing about tornadoes 🙁 I hope everyone stays safe!

That b-fast looks quite yummy! I’ve never tried the overnight oat soaking, but I’ll have to give it a try soon. It would cut down on my morning breakfast routine:) Good luck with the back-to-back interviews.
