^^ Look who stopped by our house for a glass of ‘nog with mommy on Christmas!
Did you know when your parents live at different houses Santa comes twice?! Our lucky little boy got SO many presents this year from everyone who loves him – he has more grandparents than I can count!
He spent Christmas Eve with Matt and did round 1 of gifts and a special homemade biscuit breakfast over there and then came to our house at 9 and did more presents! (I cannot wait to play Operation with him this week!)
The theme of this Christmas in our house was Hot Wheels (Thomas-inspired), and the boys have a huge track set up in the basement.
I got the world’s fluffiest robe!
Mid-morning we went out to T’s family and had brunch (eggs, bacon, breads!) and exchanged gifts.
I’m a lucky girl! I got this awesome planter and our first Sonos speaker!
John made his famous stuffed Christmas pizza:
We headed home mid-afternoon to prepare for Christmas dinner, which we hosted for T’s parents.
He made BBQ chicken in the Big Green Egg. I made a big mac and cheese casserole. We both contributed to a salad, though!
I am sure there were 1,000 sugarplums dancing around in this head that night. He slept in his new over-the-bed tent surrounded by new animal friends 🙂
You know what I’m looking forward to? January! It used to be my least favorite month of the year, but these days I love the minimalism that comes with the idea of a clean slate. I am feeling more inspired than ever to minimize and organize. Home Neat Home, here we come!

I also cannot wait to clean and organize my home – I went to the container store today for some inspiration and I took January 2nd off so I can organize and clean while everyone is out of the house!
And I need to find a stuffed pizza recipe, that looks delish!

Looks like mazen is a messy present Ripper! Whenever I go into the presents I try to keep the wrapping as perfect as possible so I can possibly reuse it, haha!

You went to Thomas’s parents house for brunch and then they came over to dinner? I wasn’t sure if I just read that wrong. Merry Christmas!
KathEats says
Yep that is correct

OMG! I had an over the bed tent as a kid and LOVED it. I had no idea this was still a thing 🙂 Looks like you had a wonderful holiday (which you deserve). <3
Happy New Year!
Amanda says
Sounds like a fun, festive holiday! Do you have a recipe for the Mac and cheese casserole?
KathEats says
It’s actually Matt’s recipe that he shared with me over text. I believe it was 3 tbsp butter + 3 tbsp flour as a roux, then 3 cups milk, simmered until thickened (took me quite a bit). Then 1.5 pounds of shredded cheese. Then that was poured over half a pound of cooked spiral mac into a casserole dish. I put 1 cup of bread crumps mixed with a few tbsp of melted butter on top. The whole thing was baked at 375 for 40 minutes.

I love that circular marble tray! Do you remember where you got it?
