We love charcuterie boards for happy hour, so why not serve one full of your favorite morning foods, too? This charcuterie board for breakfast is great for kids, brunch, and whenever you need a little somethin’ special in the morning.
Charcuterie Board For Breakfast
I love the creativity that comes from assembling charcuterie boards! The other cheese boards I’ve shared have been some of my favorite posts over the past few years: Thanksgiving board, Christmas board, and even a Kids charcuterie board. I also love breakfast buffets. Consider this a breakfast charcuterie board a mash up of the two.
This breakfast board is perfect for hosting breakfast or brunch parties or when you just want to make the morning meal a little bit extra for your family. Mix up the ingredients with their favorites. Best of all, you don’t have to make everything from scratch. Feel free to use frozen ingredients to save you lots of time. If you do a little bit of the cooking in advance, this board is so quick and easy to assemble at breakfast time. But of course, homemade pancakes and waffles for a hosted brunch would be a nice touch.
I recommend an assortment of protein-rich foods (like eggs, breakfast sausages, mini quiches, or Greek yogurt) plus all the yummy baked goods (waffles, pancakes, croissants), and of course tons of fresh fruit. You can also add some meats and cheeses, nuts, or other charcuterie board favorites that are seen on breakfast buffets (avocado and smoked salmon come to mind!).

These Cinnamon Raisin Baked Oatmeal Muffins would be great.
How To Assemble A Charcuterie Board For Breakfast
Just like building a cheese and meat board, you want to start with the anchor items and fill in with smaller pieces.
Step 1: Prep dishes
Prepare a clean cutting board and gather smaller bowls for liquidy toppings. Get some small spoons or spreaders for anything that needs cutting. Have separate plates for guests to use, and a pair of tongs for serving.
Step 2: Anchor the board with bowls
Anchor the board with small bowls of peanut butter, maple syrup and granola. Add the empty yogurt bowl, which you’ll fill with yogurt last. Optional: softened butter and whipped cream!!
Step 3: Arrange room temp items
Spread cold fruit or any other room temp items around the board. Group like with like and save a few fruits for last. You’ll want to keep the wettest fruits (like oranges/grapefruit) away from the baked goods.
Step 4: Warm baked ingredients
Cook or toast any of the frozen ingredients. You’ll want to do this step last so the baked goods are as warm as possible, but set the expectation that this board is served room temp and guests can warm their plate if needed.
Step 5: Fill in any gaps
After adding your warmed pieces around the board, fill in any gaps with extra fruit or smaller ingredients, like some spiced nuts!
Step 6: Add the yogurt
If you’re serving anything that should be chilled, like yogurt or cottage cheese, add that last! Pour right into the bowl you reserved and top with garnishes.
Breakfast Charcuterie Board Ideas
Cut Fruit in Pretty Shapes
Here’s how to make kiwi flowers. Fan your strawberries. You can use cookie cutters on watermelon or cantaloupe to make shapes. Fruit skewers would be a fun addition too!
Match the season
In the summer, bright berries will be the star. Or watermelon! You might stick to a yogurt, fruit, and granola theme in the summer, or make a pitcher of green smoothie and set all the toppings on the board. Chia pudding would be a fun addition to a summery board! In the winter, citrus is the star, along with a warm quiche or croissants. Maybe even some donuts with red and green sprinkles for Christmas morning!
Consider Dietary Preferences
If you’ll have any vegans, vegetarians, or gluten-free guests in attendance, keep them in mind. Pay close attention that the meat doesn’t overlap with the fruit. You can plan a a dairy-free yogurt choice or make the whole board gluten-free if needed.
Sweet Board vs. Savory Board
Another option is to have two dueling boards: sweet and savory! Which breakfast type rules?! Guests could even vote! One board has quiche, eggs (scrambled eggs might be hard to do cold, but fried eggs, omelets, or hard-boiled work!), breakfast meats, even little salads. The sweet board has waffles, crepes, donuts, muffins. Mmmm!!!
Serve with brunch drinks!
For a brunch charcuterie board, don’t forget the mimosas!! Plus hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate for the kids, or bloody marys for the bold.

These boards always look so pretty and delicious but I can’t get past the thought of everything having been touched to be placed on the board and then eating it. It looks so fun though so that’s my own hang up and I’m the one missing out 🙂

Well hopefully the person who makes it has washed their hands!! : )

Agree Erika! I also am a little wary of all the temperature differences – warm meat next to berries, or (even worse) room temperature meat next to room-temperature waffles…. Love the idea but the execution seems like it might fall flat (or gross). I wouldn’t want my guests to have to fill their plate with food that should be warm, warm it up, then come back for room temp or cold stuff. Too much trouble!
Kath Younger says
Just do two boards side by side! A warm and a chilled.

This is gorg! I’ve done something similar for a baby shower brunch and it was a huge hit!
