Mmm, doughy oats. Just finished my OOIAJ, thanks to you introducing them to me. They have grown on me, as I wasn’t a fan at first. But, yum!
Love the glass!

Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I love adding some oats to my smoothies — I first read about it in New Rules of Lifting for Women and I thought it sounded insane — but it adds really great texture!
Those chalk glasses are super cute!
Baking 'n' Books says
Does it make it thicker? Never been a smoothie fan because I prefer thick stuff…and just eating the food 😉 But if it was more like a thick shake or something it’d be more appealing.
Colleen (What's Baking in the Barbershop) says

Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
You could probably make that glass with a bit of chalkboard paint.
Jennifer White says
I am dying to make blended oats! They look amazing.
Do you blend them while they are hot or after they’ve cooled? If you blend them while hot do you serve them hot as well?
I have roommates and have a hard time making blended items in the morning. I am going to try to start making them at night, so do you think I could make these oats at night? Keep them chilled in the fridge and serve them chilled? Or possibly just throw them in the microwave for a few seconds?
Thanks!
KathEats says
Keyword being “RAW oats” 🙂

Love the photo of that cat – too cute!
I also love adding raw oats to my smoothies, which I started doing last summer. I’m always amazed by how filling it is to add them in, and nut butter too. Have a great Monday.
L.G. says
Does blending change the nutritional value of food at all (with smoothies or oats)? (Does the body have to do “less work” because its already been broken down some?)
KathEats says
It only changes the glycemic index – or how fast it enters the blood. It doesn’t change the nutritional value
Natalia - a side of simple says
I’m having some doughy oats right now! So tasty. I always feel like I’m eating a cookie batter for breakfast!

Hi Kath,
I was down visiting my sister yesterday and she mentioned that she was going to ask me to go to Great Harvest Alexandria to pick her up some of her favorite bread. I was happy to tell her she would soon have a much closer option in Charlottesville and turned her on to your business site. She was asking for the Spinach Feta bread, I notice it isn’t on your list of favorites. I had thought maybe it was Popeye (it made sense) but then looked that up to find out it was another Spinach bread. Any chance you will be making the Spinach Feta? Also her twins are Rosemary and Olivia and we think you should be able to come up with a great Rosemary Olive bread. Looks like things are going well with the bakery. Good luck to you and Matt.
Jasmine
KathEats says
They are slightly different – Popeye has herbs and red pepper and Spinach Feta is just spinach and feta. We don’t have SF on our opening menu, but we will probably do it as a special sometime. And I LOVE the names Rosemary and Olivia!! Rosemary Olive would be a great bread!

I should know by the end of the week. I’d love to hear Ellyn Satter talk on Sunday morning.

I made a smoothie like this but mine was very “chalky” I put it in the Vitamix and blended away a bit more, but still very chalky, not smooth at all. Any specifics on how you blend yours?!!!

Hmmm I really have no idea. You didn’t put any protein powders in it, did you?

Oh blended oats! i’ve heard of blended cooked oats but never blended uncooked. mm
