Boy am I sad that weekend is over! Fun in epic proportions!!!!
On Thursday I drove Mazen down to Hillsborough for his very first super fun solo sleepover weekend with Grammie and Pea. He was pumped!!
Grammie has the best toys : ) We went to Radius Pizza for dinner and beers, naturally.
I had this delicious bacon-goat cheese salad with truffle dressing
And we shared a few pies – baked potato, farmer’s market veggie and pepperoni sausage.
I got up early Friday morning and couldn’t wait to get back to Cville to start celebrating my big birthday weekend.
I don’t even know what I did Friday afternoon – probably fluffed all of the pillows on the couch and then laid on it (while working on my computer ; ) )
Friday evening we went to the grand opening party at the new Edge location of ACAC, our gym.
Edge is ACAC’s boutique cycle, yoga and training studio. The yoga will be heated and rockin’, so I can’t wait to try it soon! While it’s part of our gym network, Edge is an extra membership, so I’m not sure if I’ll be joining or not. The space was gorgeous and so nicely decorated!
Chris taught an athletic conditioning class in the HUGE studio space. Loved jumping on the soft turf! That’s Matt doing a cartwheel there! See some more photos from the event on the Edge FB page!
Afterwards they had a nice reception with appetizers, cupcakes, wine and beer.
I joined a handful of friends next door at Rocksalt for a light dinner. Matt and I shared the Lamb and Clams
Plus the Baked Oysters with kale. Delicious! And a side of creamy grits!
Friday night we went out on the town with friends. Had to take advantage of our empty house!
Saturday morning Matt brought me breakfast in bed – egg, toast, mango, coffee.
We did a few chores before I dressed up for a soccer game at noon. The game was fun – best way to spend the afternoon.
Post game salad topped with goat cheese leftover sweet potato fries from Friday’s lunch at Citizen! Kombucha on the side.
We spent the rest of the day clearing our living room in preparation for a big party! And doing a little bubbly drinking with friends : )
Here’s the text from the invite Matt created for the party:
Because the club is, in fact, unable to handle her, for Kath’s 33rd birthday we rented the Silent Disco equipment from Old Met Hall! If you’re not familiar, you get on the dance floor wearing special headphones that have three different channels you can tune into. Your headphones change color based on which one you’re listening to, so at any time you can see that Kath is listening to One Direction and Celine Dion while the rest of us are on the 90’s or pop stations. We hope at the end of the night you Can’t Feel Your Face, fulfilled your Wildest Dreams, and nobody can Drag You Down!!
All I can say is that was the best party ever!! We had SO much fun, and everyone loved the silent disco concept!
My friend Lauren owns a Mary Kay business and did my make up for the event. She brought over her whole collection and she did a wonderful job!! I looked glamorous without being overdone. Erin did my hair too – I felt like a bride!!
To set up for the party, we filled 100 helium balloons and hung glow sticks from ribbon. It looked so cool!! All Matt’s idea! We also ordered these cool lights from Amazon, and they added so much.
And then we danced all night to the best songs ever!! The concept of silent disco just blows my mind. It’s hilarious to take off your headphones and hear everyone singing. Our 3 channels were all so good – it was hard to choose between them at times! (You just connect 3 receivers to tablets, phones or computers and we used Spotify to make our playlists).
Our house was packed – we think we had at least 50 people at one time.
There weren’t many photos from the night because I tucked my phone away, but we snagged a few!
Fun times!
The aftermath the next morning was not pretty – I think there was a layer of sludge on the floor. But cleaning wasn’t actually that bad since we contained the party to the wood floor part of the house. I had my cleaning guy Tony come over to share his expertise, and that was a lifesaver.
Plus it was fun to wear the headphones and keep dancing while we cleaned!!
Matt picked up bagels for brunch from Bodos. Smoked salmon for me!
And then I played in back to back soccer games and nearly died of exhaustion. 3 games in one weekend plus all the dancing on my feet wore me out! I can barely walk this morning.
Sunday night Matt and I normally would have salads with eggs on top, but since Mazen had one more night with Grammie and Pea, we went out downtown for dinner. Destination: Zocalo for that pepper!
We shared mussels for an appetizer – these were exceptional!
And I had the stuffed relleno pepper, as always. DELICIOUS!
For a birthday treat, we went by Splendora’s and got the sampler of six different flavors. Salted Caramel was the best!
We had such a fun adult weekend, but we can’t wait for our little sunshine to come home today! Grammie and Pea are driving him up so we can all celebrate my birthday together.

Happy Belated Birthday, Kath!!! Seriously coolest party ever – you have lucky friends 🙂 Enjoy your reunion with Mazen today!

First off HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
That idea of a silent party is so awesome. That way your really not disturbing the neighbors. You post the best pictures of food. Makes me want a salad, which I need to eat more of. Maybe a salad with some diced apples to finish up using my Carter Mountain apples. I’m still sad I missed you on my yearly visit. Next time. Almost out of my C’ville crunch, the best bread ever!
And oh yeah where did Grammie and Pea get the ginormous Duck? I need one.

I don’t know if you ever go down to Raleigh or Durham, but if you do, you must try Lilly’s Pizza! It is my favorite pizza place- they have one called the Buddha, that I think you would find incredible. Also, salads with tofu on it that is amazing!
Happy Birthday!!

Happiest of birthdays!!! Just wondering – have you ever thought about getting a Snapchat account? It looks like a lot of bloggers are starting to use it – could be a fun way to microblog as you go about your healthy days!!!!

I do need to investigate this!!
Sarah says
Oh yay!!! Please sign up for Snapchat, Kath! I follow so many of my favourite bloggers on there and it is so much fun, getting a tiny peak into what they are up to. I’d love to see little videos as you cook up your meals, it would be a great way to pass on some healthy cooking tips.
