When Matt worked at his Great Harvest, I was so very envious of the sandwiches he would come home to tell me about. Lots of smashed grilled cheeses and homemade pizzas made with GH dough.
Like his Rueben-esque giant sandwich from today:
Today I got to get a little creative with the sandwiches!
I made a mini bun out of Popeye bread (spinach, herbs, peppers). Maybe the first time I have ever shaped bread to eat myself!
Topped with some red pepper hummus, muenster cheese and lots of veggies
Heated in the 42 pan oven to a crisp!
I had a moment:
A memorable lunch
We just left work and are now relaxing here until we muster up the energy to do something fun. We’re headed back at 5:30 to close and do some business work over dinner.
Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says

The picture of you on the milk crate reminds me of my parents’ restaurant. I ate a lot of sandwiches sitting on milk crates growing up. 🙂

Classic lunch break shots, I love it. Man I could use a sunny lunch hour- it’s sort of “cumulus” around these parts today 🙂

We missed you again today! We saw Matt working hard but it was quite busy when we stopped by and we didn’t want to seem like groupies in the middle of all the business men ordering sandwiches. 🙂 I also had a toddler who was about a hot second away from a meltdown because I wouldn’t let her have the tinfoil shamrocks on the display case- good times! We did pick up some delicious soda bread and our weekly slice of challah for the road. Love that place! (And love seeing all the inner workings from your blog!) Have a safe trip!
KathEats says
awwww I wish you had asked for me! I was in the office doing paperwork stuff!

How do you like the busy-ness and pace of the bakery work?? Do you feel it’s going to change a lot of your blogging and computer work (lifestyle) with your own?!
KathEats says
I don’t really like fast paced, which is why it’s Matt forte! I’m going to be more behind the scenes – stepping in where needed – rather than master of command
Baking 'n' Books says
Neat. Will you be hiring to others to work for you?!
KathEats says
Yup
