Just breakfasts and dinners today! I have no idea where the lunches are. In my stomach!?
Monday night’s dinner was a version of shrimp and grits. I made a big pot of cheesy grits in my rice cooker and then cooked bacon, peppers, tomatoes, and shrimp in a skillet on the side in barbecue sauce. A few greens went on top for additional color and crunch.
I’m on a sunny-side-up egg kick (as of this week – haha!). I had two eggs with warm pear and a honey whole wheat roll.
Dinner last night was panko salmon (made the Blue Apron way with Dijon mustard as the only binder) with lots of roasted broccoli. Matt tossed the broccoli in a salad-like dressing before roasting and it had so much flavor! We squeezed lemon on it all, and we opened a bottle of La Crema to go with.
And this morning Mazen and I made smoothies together (berries / milk / banana / peanut butter) and had buttered rolls with jam on the side.
Did you watch the Bachelorette? I used to think it was the cheesiest show, and I sort of still do, but I am now a fan. The preview for this season was INSANE! I can’t wait to see how it plays out, although I can say with a little experience that the preview is often the best part of the whole season.
Tonight is the Survivor finale!!! Due to some scheduling conflicts, I’m going to be working tonight and then watching the finale with my two friends tomorrow morning during preschool. We’re having a Survivor brunch party! I’ll be turning my phone off at 9:30 tonight and not checking any email or social media until almost noon tomorrow, so I’ll see you then!

Great minds think alike(or is great tastebuds?) I’ve been on a sunnyside egg kick as well! Love them!

Hi Kath! I had brinner last night, and often have some form of breakfast foods (eggs) for lunch as well. Why not? Eggs are always a good choice. I don’t actually watch either of those reality shows and don’t feel like I’m missing out. Sadly, I’m much more into the Bravo “reality” hahah! Happy Wednesday to you!
Cassie says
lol I don’t watch a lot of television at all! I could really be missing out!

I used to think the Bachelor/Bachelorette was the cheesiest show ever too, and way too dramatic! But now I’m hooked! I think it is a “great study of human nature” (my educated excuse…haha). I’m so happy Kaitlyn is the Bachelorette!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
I love brinners! You always have the best food pics! That jam roll looks awesome!
Linda @ TheFitty says
By that logic, is lunch and dinner DUNCH?

I’ve been completely obsessed with roasted broccoli lately… toss it with a generous splash of olive oil and plenty of garlic powder and pepper (with just a little bit of salt). Yum! Gotta try it in a salad dressing next 🙂

Kath have you watched Naked and Afraid? I’m a Survivor lover also, and I think this show is almost (but not quite) as entertaining!
KathEats says
I haven’t but I’ve heard of it!
Jennifer says
will you by chance be working at the Beck concert!?
KathEats says
No, Hillary is working tonight. Wish I could go to Beck!

All of those “brinners” look so tasty! I am so sad that I missed the Bachelorette premiere. I used to watch that show with my sister-in-law every week, but now that we don’t live close to each other, I just can’t seem to get into it.

Crispy bottomed sunny side up eggs..my fav! 🙂
Fancy says
Thank you so much for not giving away any Bachelorette spoilers for those of us who DVR. I’ve had SO many spoilers ruined in the past from different shows on various blogs…thank you so much for not giving even little details away! Can’t WAIT to watch 🙂
KathEats says
Enjoy!
Kate says
I think Fancy is pulling your chain. You told us the bachelorette is Kaitlyn in the comments and sadly I have it DVRed but now I know!!! Gah. Is it still worth a watch?
KathEats says
I didn’t say a thing in the post…so no she’s not pulling my leg. It’s definitely still worth watching.
Michele says
Looks like another Kath gave it away. Anyway, I watched it last night. I think it will be the trashiest season ever from what I saw last night…so yeah, I’ll probably be watching! I really don’t care for the person who is the Bachelorette this time though. I don’t mind spoilers, in fact, I already know how it ends! One of the first things I do each season is look up spoilers. Maybe I’m just weird, lol!
Tracy @ dirtyeating.com says
I’m Bachelorette addicted – my sister and I live in different cities and make a phone date every week to watch it together. I was sort of upset about the premise this year – I like that Bachelorette takes the power dynamics on the Bachelor and gives it to the women, and they took that away a bit this time. But I’m still really excited for the season!
Melissa says
Ahh, I absolutely LOVE the Bachelorette! I agree, it can be slightly cheesy at times, but I am just drawn to it overall. It always gives me something to talk about and sometimes what happens is just so outrageous, I can’t help but watch!
Christine says
I watched The Bachelorette because they always suck me in with the commercials! I feel bad for the other girl….she met all these great guys only to be told that she cannot date them.
I can’t believe the previews for the season…I know I’m going to yell “Don’t Do It!” when the risque episode airs. Curious to know which guy it is with too!
Dani @ DaniCaliforniaCooks says
Love your “his and her” smoothies with Mazen 🙂
