I slept so well last night. I don’t think we’d ever buy a king size bed. We love our four-poster and the sheets are mighty expensive. However, whenever we sleep royally while traveling, I always sleep so well!
Matt got up to have a farewell breakfast with Andrew while I dozed for another 45 minutes or so, dreaming that I was locked in a hospital room illegally!?
He returned with breakfast in bed. Although, I hate breakfast in bed! Something about getting the sheets all twisted grosses me out. So I got up to dine at our little couch + coffee table living room
I had more of that fabulous Whole Grain Goodness with a smashed banana and Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter. I love eating this with a fork! And smashed banana is the BEST. It gets all soft and gooey and you can get some in each bite – no slices falling off!
On the side, honeydew and a hard-boiled eggin
And a little brown water. Must seek better coffee when we hit the road!
I have a running date when we arrive in Charlotte, so once we pack up we’re off.
Jessica @ How Sweet says
I don’t like breakfast in bed either. I think it is gross and = lots of crumbs!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
My parents have a king-sized bed, and I love sleeping in it when they’re away…so HUGE and roomy!! Have a safe trip home!!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
I am so glad you wrote you hate breakfast in bed – I thought I was the only one! It’s awkward, uncomfortable, stuff spills, crumbs get in the sheets…a nightmare.
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Freya, I think you summed it up nicely, and I’m right there with you. Breakfast in bed sounds nice and romantic, but in the end . . . not so much, for all the reasons you mention!
liza says
agreed! maybe if I was rich and had an automatic table that would come out of somewhere 🙂

Just read your wedding recap. My best friend got married at the same chapel. That view is breath taking and I loved the small & quaint chapel.
Holly @ couchpotatoathlete says
I love breakfast in bed — but we only have it on the days I change our sheets — I hate CRUMBS in bed!
Have a safe drive home 🙂
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I’m not a fan of breakfast in bed either. We don’t have a king size bed… but I LOVE it when we travel and our hotel has a nice one with fluffy pillows 🙂
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Haha….I’m eating breakfast right now as I read this post! 🙂
Hannah says
Aw, I thought that was an enormous lychee at first, not an egg. Now I’m all disappointed. Boo. 😛
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I cannot stand breakfast in bed either! I’m more of an eating at the table kind of girl!!
When the Husband and I were able to sleep in a king sized bed on our honeymoon, we loved it! I’m not a “cuddler” when I sleep and absolutely hate being touched when I’m trying to fall asleep, so it was PERFECTTT!!!
Jil says
Love the mashed banana and nutbutter – such a good idea.
Amanda says
That is what I call a monster slice!
rebecca lustig says
i love my parents king sized bed– we used to have family movie nights all bundled up. and never had to worry about crowding one’s space!
have a safe trip back
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
We sleep just fine in our queen, but I agree, when we travel and sleep in a king, it’s kinda nice! 😉
Tina says
I’m not a huge breakfast in bed kind of person either. I am a messy eater though so eating in bed usually means I have laundry to do at the end. LOL
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Tony got up before me this morning. I slept 9 beautiful hours! Your breakfast looks tasty and I am with you, I don’t really like breakfast in bed either. I like getting up! Have a safe trip to Charlotte and enjoy your run!
Aubrey S. says
That toast looks muy yummy. Have a safe trip home and a good run.
Cara Craves... says
King sized beds overwhelm me!
I stay in the exact same spot the whole night, so to me, they are a waste of space…
unless they were so big that I would not hear my husband’s snoring, then I might appreciate them!
grocery goddess jen says
I couldn’t even fit a king sized bed in my bedroom if I wanted to! A queen is big enough for my bf and me, but we definitely enjoy king sized mattresses on vaca, too.
Camille says
I’m not a fan of breakfast in bed either. My favorite breakfast is all cozy at my desk 🙂

Lauren at KeepItSweet says
i actually love breakfast in bed, always makes me feel like i am on a little vacation!

I don’t like huge beds. I prefer to snuggle with my boy during the night, although everything hurts the morning after 😀 He just squeezes to tightly.
And breakfast in bed… well, from time to time, it’s a nice thing 🙂
Cathy B. @ Bright Bakes says
seriously, I know of few things better than a grainy piece of bread with Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter and a mashed banana. Only one more thing makes it totally perfect. A sprinkling of CHIAS!!!
Love,
Cathy B. @ brightbakes

Lol. I hate hotel “brown water.” Cheap skates.

toast looks good,.

One of my all time favorite breakfasts is toast and a soft boiled egg on the side. It reminds me of when I lived in Germany last summer.. although I favor my toast with Nutella over Sunflower Butter. Have fun in Charlotte!
Beth @ DiningAndDishing says
Mashed banana is exactly what I ate this morning too! Once I tried it mashed, I’ll never go back to slices again :).
Dorry says
Glad you slept well – we LOVE king-sized beds when traveling and Billy is adamant about buying one asap. Also, LOVE your KERF language, ex. “eggin” – reminds me of my sisters and our take on certain words. 🙂

I can’t stand breakfast in bed either! Always turns out messy for me, and my bed gets full of crumbs. Your toast looks so yummy 🙂
Claire (Low Impact Fashionista) says
Must try smashed banana on toast with PB, that looks amazingly delicious! And thanks for reminding me that honeydew exists, I love it! But have completely forgotten to get any at the grocery store lately…
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
breakfast in bed is overrated. it’s the thought that counts though!
your wedding pix were gorgeous, too, by the way. they’re lucky to have such a great photographer!
Jamie @ Food in Real Life says
Yeah, I’m not huge on breakfast in bed either..but my husband is kind of a nut about crumbs, so maybe it would be more fun if that wasn’t the case. I also HATE TWISTED SHEETS! LOL
Natalia - a side of simple says
So glad I’m not alone in my dislike for breakfast in bed! It actually skeeves me out. It feels so out of place and I can’t enjoy it at all! Coming from a breakfast buff like you, this makes me happy 🙂

OMG. Long-time reader, first-time commenter: I totally had nightmares about being illegally detained in a hospital too! I had a couple of them: in the first, they had hidden my shoes, so I couldn’t leave and was frantically searching for them. In the second, a woman was harassing me as I tried and tried to lock and unlock hospital room doors.
I will have to look and see what you had to eat last night – maybe there is some connection?! I made the sloppy joe’s from this month’s Clean Eating, but I veganized them by using soy crumble instead of bison. Hm….
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I know what you mean!! I used to be fine with eating in bed..but uggh not anymore :/ It definitely needs a solid surface
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I never eat in bed because my mom always used to tell me I’d attract bugs into my bed if I did. 😛 That was enough to scare me out of ever doing it!
Heidi - apples under my bed says
Yum! Breakfast looks delicious. Love a side of hard-boiled egg 🙂 I don’t mind breakfast in bed – sprawling out with newspapers. But I always get crumbs in my sheets, which irritate me when I get into bed later that night!

Mmm, eating toast with a fork makes it feel like a mock french toast. I think I will try this for breakfast this week!
laine @ beets, butter and mountaintops says
I bring my own little coffee maker, coffee, cream & sugar when I travel. It’s so worth it!
Anna says
When I was growing up, my family had a tradition on Mother’s day and Father’s day to make breakfast in bed but we had a nice little lap table that not only was a great way to carry the food, but also fit nicely over the lap when sitting on the bed. I do dislike crumbs in my bed. Speaking of crumbs, I need to clean up the granola that fell out of my backpack onto my bed earlier this evening 🙂
Sara @ myfancytuna.blogspot.com says
LOL I hate eating in bed, too! I get crumbs everywhere and then you can feel them when you go to sleep that night…ICK. Also, I love smashing a banana on toast – it’s like banana jam!
Amber K says
I hate breakfast in bed too! My husband and I couldn’t live without a king though. He’s 6’8” and hogs the bed. 😉
