Boy did I miss the humidity here!! I know some people can’t stand it with a passion, but humidity makes me feel cozy and warm. I spent too many months cold to not get humidity in the summer!
I was on FIRE cleaning, unpacking, laundering, organizing and catching up this morning. I pretty much got everything done (even washing the shower curtain!) so I can have the afternoon for my doctor’s appointment and then writing.
I was so sweaty and tired after my housework that I nixed the walk I had been planning. Anything that breaks a good sweat is a workout to me!
After finally cleaning myself, I dove into a 1:30pm lunch
2 scrambled eggs with cheese and jalapenos on a Whole Foods whole wheat tortilla
This should have had garden greens in it but I was too hungry and lazy to go pick some!
Plus all the best of summer:
Watermelon and cherries
2 ounces pink lemonade + lots of water
Happy afternoon!
Kait - @runkaitrun says
YUM! I love how jalapenos are easy and perfect to spice up a simple dish 🙂 Enjoy your day!
Presley @ Run Pretty says
I consider so many random things workouts now… It’s crazy!
Sana says

samantha @ peach in the city says
sometimes i’m too lazy to go to the fridge for greens
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
Haha I grew up in Houston (the most humid city in the US I’m pretty sure) and I will never ever ever miss humidity!
Johanna B says
I’ll match New Orleans humidity with Houston’s anytime. I grew up there and I HATE humidity.
j3nn says
Taking care of your home is one of the funnest workouts you can get! It yields double rewards.
I’m all about watermelon and cherries these days. Summer fruit rocks!
Hillary says
The egg/jalapeno/cheddar combo is a new favorite of mine!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
YUM! Watermelon and cherries are definitely a summer favorite!

Marissa@ohhhsolovely says
that lunch combo of eggs, cheddar, & jalapeno looks interesting and delicious! will have to try…
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
This post makes me want some watermelon!! I haven’t had one yet this season 🙁
Catalina @ Cake with Love says
I love your lunch, so colurful and it looks so delicious yet simple! I culdn’t get used to the humidity when I moved to NY, I literally couldn’t breath, like there was not enough oxygen for me, now I am better, but I still prefer weather that is dry and hot!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
the Watermelon and cherries look awesome…cherries are still crazy $$ here…Like $6.99 a pound at the regular groc store…Can’t wait til they come down!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i cannot believe what i’m reading. YOU LIKE HUMIDITY? i didn’t think this existed!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
That looks perfect to me especially with the jalapeños! YUM! Have a great afternoon and good luck at your appointment!

You have me wanting more watermelon. My last one was not good. Glad you are home safe!
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
Sounds like someone is starting to do some nesting!
Watermelon tastes so good right now! It is so refreshing.
Jeri says
I had watermelon for lunch too. Along with my No B, LT sandwich. But I need some help! Since I still haven’t had a soda since Lent (yay me), I am drinking even more sweet tea now. Any suggestions about how to replace that soda/caffine/sweet fix? Anyone? Bueller?
KathEats says
Why not try the juice in water technique that I use?
Jeri says
Thanks. I will try that. I am kind of over crystal light as well. I drink like a gallon and a half of liquid all day. So let me try that. I have been using myfitnesspal.com and the amount of sugar I am consuming is bananas. Thank you again so much.
Macrae says
Try La Croix or Hansen’s. These are both sparkling water drinks and great alternatives.
Stephanie @ Joy in The Journey says
I went to Wyoming one summer, and when I was headed back people were asking me what I missed most about home, and first thing that came to mind..”I miss the humidity!” Needless to say I got some confused looks. Cozy and warm is right on the money. Love my Maryland heat 🙂 Glad you’re home safe!
@FactFinderSteph says
I feel the same way about humidity!! I have never ever heard anyone else say that before! I had to travel to San Fran for work all the time last year and while I LOVE the city I really really missed it in my humid FL!
Jennifer says
I can’t stand the humidity either. I grew up in Florida and most days in the summer you just step outside your door and instantly sweat, even in the shade.
This is the perfect time of year for you. 🙂
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
That is my kind of lunch! It looks delicious! ….Way to be productive, Kath!
Your fruit looks super yummy! …My little one dances for cantaloupe, I just want to eat it all day long!
Annette @FitnessPerks says
Mmmm cheese and eggs. Great combo!
LOVE watermelon too.
donna says
I LOVE humidity and hot weather too! I crave it! But of course, I grew up in South Louisiana, so hot & sticky was the norm. Now that I live in Charlotte, I’m often too cold, even in the summer. (And especially in the winter.) Cold weather, now, that is MISERABLE. I don’t know how anyone can stand it!
My ac stays on 77 during the summer. Anything lower….and I’m shivering!
OliePants says
As I spend most of my time in a really hot city, I can do without humidity. I welcome cold weather with arms wide open. I had eggs for lunch too. 🙂
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Love that the cherries are finally in…my son and I adore them! We both love watermelon too…need to buy some as we are also in a ‘heat wave’ here in Southern Ontario! Loving it!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I really need to get some cherries, they’re just so expensive at whole foods and they don’t have them at Trader Joe’s
Lace @ Real Food Quest says
About how large do you estimate for the watermelon serving? That is one that I always have trouble with.
KathEats says
No idea – a cup or two?
Andrea says
Just curious, but why would you need to measure out a serving of watermelon ?
Laura says
Hmmm…that’s a thought! I’m gonna start viewing cleaning as working out and maybe I’ll get up off my lazy but and do it sometime:) I can make myself “workout” easier than I can make myself mop:)
Laura says
Oops *butt*!!!
LauraMae says
I grew up in Indiana and I just miss the fall weather…definetly not the summer humidity or the freeezing winters! Wash the shower curtain, thank you for the reminder! When I forget to wash them I get grossed out and don’t want to shower and then my husband wonders why I haven’t showered in awhile. =P
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I kind of have a love/hate relationship with the humidity. It’s got to reach a certain temp for me to really hate it. I definitely love the heat, and don’t mind breaking a sweat- I’ve just got to feel “comfortable” (and drink lots of water!)
Courtney says
Most of the places I’ve lived in my life have been humid (Panama, Florida, Texas), and I don’t love it but I can stand it. I don’t really like running in humidity, but I’m pretty used to it at this point. I’d much rather it be hot and humid then cold and dry, because I absolutely hate the cold. I have no tolerance for it.
Julia H. @ Going Gulia says
Even hearing the words “pink lemonade” makes me feel summery…yet I don’t think I’ve had it in years! I should venture out and get some 🙂
Amanda says
Are the jalapenos you use fresh or jarred? Do you find them spicy? Or do you remove the seeds? Not sure if they’d be too much heat for me….!?
KathEats says
Jarred so they’re not too spicy!
Brittnie (A Joy Renewed) says
You sure would love living in Houston! The summers are over 100 degrees and like 100% humidity. Does a number on a girls hair, ha!
Amanda @ flecksofgreen says
I wish I could adopt your humidity philosophy! It makes me feel sticky and swollen…I can’t stand it lol
jenna k says
i was dying for some cherries and watermelon today, but i have like no money right now. i found a $10 bill in my purse and got to the grocery store to find cherries at $2.99/lb! now to find some watermelon…
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
I would enjoy that lunch! I’m starting to love using the pickled jalepenos! Love them!
Karen says
I echo your sentiment re. humidity…bring it on!! It’s way too early in the season to complain re. muggy weather after months of the cold, snowy stuff. I just love open-window tropical-island like living as it puts me in a state of serenity. Despite growing up in the midwest, I thrive – mentally and physically in warm/hot weather.
BTW, I have you to blame/credit for my humpday excitement, Kath. (SYTYCD – new episode tomorrow night…whee!)
KathEats says
I’m excited too!
Kristina says
I’m not sure what kind of jalapenos you buy but I just stumbled across these Thai Basil ones from Gordy’s Pickle Jar and they look pretty tasty. I ordered a jar of the pickle chips for my dad for Father’s Day since he loves pickles. Organically made is Washington, DC so pretty local!
