It’s a rainy day, but a cozy one here. We’ve been so lucky to have such sunny weather lately, but I know we need the rain and I’m soaking it up while I can 🙂
Breakfast today was AWESOME!! A twist on toast + oatmeal cravings combined.
I cooked whipped banana Scottish oats per the usual proportions (1/3 cup of everything, half a banana) and added a handful of Apple Crunch bread cubes in the last minute or so of cooking. They plumped up into delicious bread pudding bites!! Will definitely be doing this again 🙂
Topped with BISCOFF SPREAD (!) from a little sample container I’ve been saving and a few salty almonds.
Oatmeal is back!
So is a KERF Classic – a Cali bowl promotion!
All of the new GREEN colored Cali bowls are half off for the next two days. Green is my favorite color (cause of my eyeballs) and I love the new shade and how it matches the infamous green Crate + Barrel spoon
All of the different sizes are available 50% off here:
Have a wonderful Monday y’all

Cathy B. @ Bright Bakes says
so I’m not the only oddball! 🙂 I often take a piece of whole wheat toast, give it a swirl of PB and some good jam, then put it in a bowl with a greek yogurt/soymilk mixture over top. Sprinkle the whole works with cinnamon and it tastes like some super moist french toast/bread pudding! Weird but for some reason good!
Cathy B. @brightbakes
Marina says
What a great idea! I love crumbling a muffin or some sweet bread in my oats.
Have a nice Monday 🙂
Peggy says
What a good idea! I love crumbling muffins and banana bread into my oatmeal, but never thought of bread for some reason. I bet it was incredible! Enjoy the rain. 🙂

Rainy and nasty here too! But a good day for some warm and comforting oats 🙂
Clare @ Fitting It All In says
I’ve been totally down on my usual Oatmeal combo lately too. I used to eat it EVERYDAY, but recently it’s been kinda blah to me! Maybe I’m not letting it cook long enough…or maybe I just LOVE overnight oats and PB&Banana toast too much!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I bet that did taste good! Looks like a great way to start a rainy Monday!
Mary (What's Cookin' with Mary) says
It is the polar opposite of rainy here… 100* and sunny. Not complaining too much though, bc winter will be here before I know it. I just wish it was under 90*…
Oats + hot weather = over heated Mary lol. Maybe a siab is in order ??

Hi Kath,
While not searching for it, I found the Biscoff spread in a small bakery here in Quebec, Canada and OMG, this stuff is dangerous. Must hide this from my husband and 5y old… and from me!
Have a wonderful day!
Alyssa says
Sounds like a fantastic combo! I will have to give that a try with some of my GF Pumpkin Chocolate Chip bread 🙂 Great Harvest woot woot!
AppGal says
Hey Kath! Random question for ya…I’ve been looking all over for a decent slow-cooker oatmeal recipe. Have you done oats in the slow-cooker before? If so, can you point me in the right direction? Any help would be awesome!
Kath says
I have not ever used the slow cooker – sorry!
Jasmine @ Eat Move Write says
I love those green bowls!!! I have blue eyes, but I actually prefer green so I don’t blame you for it being your fav color. 🙂
I wish it was cold/rainy here today. It’s supposed to be in the 90s. I hate that. Boo. 🙁
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Yum! Breakfast looks amazing!!!
Chelsea at Striking Balance says
Great idea adding the bread! I was craving oatmeal this morning, but I am out of both oats and bananas AND peanut butter! The horror! A trip to the grocery store later today is in order, obviously.
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
bread cubes sound delicious! cute cali bowls…
Sara says
kath,
fyi: infamous and famous don’t mean the same thing. infamous has a negative connotation, means sort of like notorious, but in a bad way. so you don’t want to interchange the two.
Sara
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
This makes me laugh because it reminds me of my mom making the same mistake, when referring to a student in a work situation. Oops!
Kath says
I actually do know that but I still use the word wrong all the time.
Christena says
I do this all the time also! ha ha. Your “infamous” spoon must have a bad reputation.
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
We’ve actually been wanting to get more bowls for quite awhile now, so I went to the Cali Bowl website. Do they have a non-plastic option, like glass or ceramic? I know these are BPA-free, but I pretty much refuse to serve anything hot in any type of plastic. I like the bowl design and the company’s environmental statement, but I’ll hold out for a non-plastic bowl option.
Kath says
They do actually have a ceramic bowl. I’m hoping to carry that soon.
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
That’s good news. I guess I needed to look closer at their website 🙂
Exmodel says
You are obsessed with the green Kath!
Lauren @ BIOCHEMISTA says
Hi Kath! Hope you are having a wonderful Monday, despite the weather. I was wondering if you’re still planning to run the 10K in Charlottesville this year. I’m always looking for new races and new running buddies 🙂 ) Also, if you ever want to run some in DC let me know!

Jil says
Ohh – that is such a good idea!! I am such a fan of bread pudding…
Julia says
I looked at your oats bowl and said, that looks like biscoff spread. I can’t believe that I, who once hated PB/Nut Butters can tell the difference in spreads with a quick glance.
stacey-healthylife says
What an unusual but great idea with the bread cubes.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
We’re supposed to have a rainy day here tomorrow. I will definitely be starting off my day with a warm bowl of oats!
