Breakfast held me over wonderfully and around 1:00 I started getting excited for lunch. I knew I wanted a hummus sandwich and I knew bread was on the way. So I waited for Matt to arrive with a fresh loaf of my favorite flavor: Flax Oat Bran.
A sandwich it was!
Slathered in Ina Garten’s hummus with some havarti dill cheese, mustard, green peppers and green leaf lettuce.
Served with the last of the tailgate veggies dipped in a bit more hummus
A side of crunchy organic red grapes
And a cuppa Tazo Green tea
Look what finally bit the dust today. At this point, I cannot recommend Eye-Fi cards! I’m hoping it is still under warranty and I can get a replacement, but mine chipped today. Likely from too much inserting and removing from the USB holder, which I shouldn’t have had to use if the card actually WORKED! SO glad that this didn’t chip inside my brand new Rebel!
I got my two required projects done this morning and am moving on to more long-term stuff. GUF.
Soccer in T-3 hours!

Your hummus sandwich looks so yummy…ohhh that bread! Have a fun afternoon…can’t wait to hear about soccer 🙂
Kat (Kat's Daily Plate) says
OOOh, sucks about the chip. I would recommend one, but I really don’t know much about that stuff…
I wish my boyfriend was a baker and that we had freshly baked, healthy bread when we wanted it! 🙂 Looks awesome.

I can really tell the difference in your pictures today. The quality is amazing.
Have fun at soccer. I’m playing tennis this fall again after a 6 year hiatus – I played Varsity in high school. Totally brings you back, right?
Mara @ What's For Dinner?: says
Bummer about your Eye-Fi! Mine has been fantastic with absolutely no problems… maybe you just have a fluke one?
christie, honoring health says
Wow, your photos seem to be getting better and better with each post and they were already great before!

Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
YUM, bread is the best!!!! I bet that bread tastes SO good with Barney Butter + fruit spread.
I use the USB adapter for my Eye0Fi card, too because it doesn’t upload the images on its own most of the time (even when it’s right next to my PC). And yeah, having to do that isn’t much more convenient than use a USB cable. 😕

I love fresh bread! I haven’t had too many problems with my Eye-Fi card – maybe your’s had a defect or something. I hope they will send you another one! Good luck at Soccer tonight.

all of the great harvest bread looks so good! I wish we had one here.
great sandwich! I had a hummus-ful lunch too 🙂
Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) says
Freshly baked bread is one of life’s greatest gifts. I love my carbs – it’s a good thing I’m a runner 🙂
Your sandwich looks yummy, perhaps I’ll have to make my own veggie-hummus-cheese creation for dinner!
Dawn says
As much as I love hummus I don’t know if I’ve ever actually put it in a sandwich–I should try it sometime! lol Sounds amazing!
Phae says
The sandwich looks fab! I’m curious, when the bread is sliced at the bakery, are they 2 oz pieces, or is the slicer not set to the standard serving size? I usually slice my bread at home, but sometimes it’s a bit of trial and error, lol. Have fun at scoccer!
Hallie (Healthy Twists) says
Mmm I love a good grainy bread. Maybe it’s just I like all bread because I’ll take a good sourdough or french bread as well…but if I’m going with whole wheat, the grainy and heartier, the better! I find breads like that slow down my eating too…takes so long to chew each bite haha!
Faith says
Havarti dill is the best! Your sammy really looks incredible. Have fun at soccer!
Lauren says
I’ve been following your blog for a little while now and don’t think I’ve ever commented! Few things: your pics look great- I totally want a fun, new camera! 🙂 Also, I have always loved Great Harvest (I live in suburbs of Chicago)-we would go with my mom growing up to pick up some loaves and I would get a sample of the fresh bread w/ the amazing butter or a cookie. Everyone was so nice and now the smell in there is totally nostalgic. You’ve inspired me to go back and pick up some yummy loaves for my hubby and I. Lastly, I cannot wait to try pumpkin oatmeal!

Boo to the eye fi card-I hope you can get it replaced!

Good luck with soccer! I started playing in an adult kickball league last year and it’s great. It’s near my house and everyone’s young and very friendly. It’s a good way to socialize and get some exercise. Have fun!

You’re so lucky to have someone to bring you that nice bread!! Sandwich looks delish :O)
Caroline says
Bummer about the eye fi card. I bought one about a month ago after seeing it on here and have to say that so far so good. Initially when i purchased it I had to send it back (right after installing) because they had recalled the kind I got. So they shipped me a brand new one and it has worked well. Maybe you got a bad one, I would definitely try and get it replaced! Hope you have fun at Soccer, my boyfriend Darin is starting a soccer league tonight (after not playing since high school) and I think it’s going to be an every tuesday thing as well! I am with you about the dinner thing though, it stinks not being able to eat together!
Steph says
Have fun at soccer…I’m excited to hear about it! I played club soccer my whole life and I played college soccer for a few years too. I miss it a lot and would love to find a pick up game near me too!

Have fun at soccer! That sounds like a blast, and a great way to meet new people.
That bread sounds delicious, I’m starting to break out the bread machine for the winter months and might have to recreate that at home. Yum!
Hailey says
I just got a Canon Rebel last night and was just looking at Eye-fi’s this morning (remembering that you had got one a while back). Too bad that it broke!! and that it doesn’t work all the time. I was really hoping to get one soon, but now maybe I should re-think. Let us know what happens. Hopfully they will replace it in a giffy!
maria says
You are so lucky to have a husband who will bake (and bring) you fresh bread. Yum, yum!!! 🙂
Good luck at soccer. I really wish I could find something similar around here, but I don’t think there is anything. And J doesn’t like passing the ball back and forth for more than two minutes, which is no workout at all!

That’s it – I have to marry a baker. Your bread always looks unbelievable!
Alicia says
hooray for sandwiches.
Any other similar chips you have your eye on? I’d like one but am scared of the eyefi now.
Jenna says
I think I need my own bread boy, or turn Mike into one 🙂
The past few weeks the grapes here have been the best they have been in a LONG time. Big, crispy and juicy. I could eat a whole bag if I wasn’t careful!
Kath says
Phae,
It depends on the loaf size, but most slices are 1.5-2 oz based on my experience weighing a few. That’s 100-150 calories per slice, so it does vary end piece to middle and loaf size/shape.
Lauren,
Thanks and welcome!
Alicia,
I am getting a new Eye-Fi so let’s hope this one works. I may have had a fluke. You can get any SD card if you don’t need the wireless – they are not too expensive.
