This BlogHer feels so different than the others – because there is LIGHT! The main atrium where our meals are is light and bright and I even think the air conditioning MAY be slightly warmer than usual too! I’ve only had to put on my sweater twice when in the session rooms : )
I spent the morning at the Expo, which is my favorite part of the weekend, and where you get tons of freebies!! It’s total brand overload – PR peeps and company heads just dying to tell you why their brand is fabulous – but since I come prepared for that, I just roll with it and enjoy myself.
BlogPup! Cutest face ever!
At the Expo there was everything from Lowes home building to chocolate to TIDE to vibrators and menstruation products!
[Vagina model demonstrating the Softcup!]
[I need a bigger, crisper, better camera phone!]
Highlights: A rest on a Tempurpedic bed and a bite of Lindt sea salt chocolate!
Lunch was quite good – because I was bombarded with veggies + desserts – my favs!
On the menu was salad, rolls, chicken, steal something, pasta, rice pilaf, grilled veggies and desserts.
Rather standard conference fare, but I loved the "build your own" salad at the Vegan table!
I piled my plate with veggies and accented with some pasta, a small piece of chicken (obviously not the best source, but I wanted a little protein), a roll and a vegan peach cobbler.
Midway through lunch – a flash mob appeared!! It was exciting and impressive! I love flash mobs.
I enjoyed lunch with the crazy + fabulous Healthy Apple, Amie Valpone [who is in the process of launching a major online magazine on gluten-free eats called Easy Eats!] plus a collection of foodies: Tess of Healthy Blender Recipes, Erika of Toque Magazine, Jayne of Married to a Military Meat-Eating Man, and Jennifer of 84th and 3rd (and more!)
There is so much cool stuff going on online – makes me want to live in The Matrix!!
I’m in a session now on photography – then, who knows!?
Erika @ The Teenage Taste says
BlogHer sounds like a fabulous time! I cannot believe how many products and brands are set up to show off their products. I would have been in freebie heaven! 😛
Have a great time, Kath! 😀
Sarah @ Sarah's Modern Bites says
Kath, BlogHer looks like so much fun! I’m glad you’re having such a great time thus far! I feel like I would be so overwhelmed with all the people I would want to meet, the products, events, etc. etc. How do you manage all that at these big events while still posting AND having fun while fitting it all in? I hope to go someday! 🙂
KathEats says
It’s because laptops are permitted everywhere!
Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life says
Ohhh that looks amazing and like so much fun! Those peac cobblers look delicious! Glad you are having a good time and glad there is actually light for a BLOGGER conference for once haha!
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
I’ve always wanted to see a flashmob- how cool! 🙂
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Flash mobs are so cool! That’s one of my goals in life – to have a flash mob break out in front of me. 🙂
How was the vegan cobbler?
Morgan @ moments of mmm says
BlogHer looks like a fabulous time! Vendor events are the greatest..so mannny freebies.
Kristi @ Sweet Cheeks says
I want to see a flash mob in person so bad!!! That would be amazing!
Christine (The Raw Project) says

Sana says
I really want to see a flash mob! So fun!
Shayla @ The Good Life says
Wow how fun! Looks like you’re having a wonderful time! And I would love to see a flash mob in person sometime, that’s pretty awesome they had that there! 🙂
Molly @ RDexposed says
So the flash mob was all on the same phone network service? Or was there one guy 5 minutes early dancing before getting a delayed start time memo?
Kristie says
One of the food options was “steal something”? Steak maybe? 🙂
Rachel says
Looks like a great time and I LOVE your shoes! So cute.
Kristen, Sweetly says
Adorable flash mobs would definitely make a catered food lunch much more enjoyable. And a photography class! Perfect!! I’m trying to find one in South Jersey, but pickins are a little slim…
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Whoa, I want to be in a flashmob! 🙂 So fun.
I would totally dominate that salad buffet (vegan placE). And that cobbler looks to.die.for! HAVE fun!!!
Jenn says
I definitely started reading this post thinking you were at the Healthy Living Summit (no idea why..it’s been a long day!) and was SO confused by the exhibition vendors 🙂 Haha.
Hillary says
Flashmobs, chocolate, and vibrators? Good lord, you’ve had a busy day! ; )
Enjoy!

Just ONE Lindt sea salt?! I could eat 88 of those 🙂

Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
How does the woman illustrating the vagina model not burst out laughing at her job!?
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
I wish I was at the photography session! The #1 reason I *almost* bought a ticket to Blogher would have been for the photography session(s) but since I got home from an intensive photography trip just on Wednesday, I figured I didnt really “need” anything come Friday 🙂
“I’ve only had to put on my sweater twice when in the session rooms : )”–
Isn’t it AWFUL when you go into malls, groc store, meeting rooms, you name it and it’s the middle of summer and it’s sooo cold you need to bundle up? I hate that! San Diego is better as a whole than most cities. I found when I lived in the South, they REALLY cranked up that A/C !
Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well. says
Oh please please share what you learn about photography!!! I’m always so interested in learning more about it 🙂
KathEats says
It was more of a slideshow than technical. Have you seen Edible Ashley’s photography how-tos?
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Looks like an amazing time!! wow lunch sure looked good haha 🙂
Tasleen says
“On the menu was salad, rolls, chicken, steal something, pasta, rice pilaf, grilled veggies and desserts.”
It all sounds great, but what on earth is “steal something”?
KathEats says
I have absolutely no idea why I wrote that!!!!!
Baking N Books says
Crazy! But why is the salads only on the “vegan” table. Uh, meat-eaters also eat plants?
I am so happy for Amie with the mag! If she’s looking for contributors – let her know 🙂
KathEats says
There were salads for the non-vegan buffets too…
Baking N Books says
Oh I know that of course!! It was just a ‘joke’?…sorry – should have put the 🙂 after.
But nothing I say is ever right it seems.
lynn @ the actor's diet says
ha! love the flash mob!
Marie@feedingfive says
I am always so impressed with your well rounded food choices. Cobbler is my favorite dessert ever. I usually have it on my bday instead of cake. My sister joked that I should be on your payroll because I tell everyone I know about your blog. I just feel you have an approach that is viable for all. My sis just has to take the exam and is then an RD. She loves your blog as well.
Anna says
Your lunch looks great!! In your opinion what is the best protein source?
KathEats says
Do you mean in general? A complete protein – I like milk, yogurt, eggs, cheese and red meat (for the extra iron boost)
Jen says
this is kind of funny to me. in the post kath meant “not the best source” meaning she didn’t know where the chicken came from. the reader thought it meant that CHICKEN wasn’t a good source of protein. ha.
KathEats says
AHHH! That makes sense! Chicken is an excellent source of protein!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I love the dancing!! Looks like a ton of fun!
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
I heart your flats!
Lauren says
Vibrators?? LoL that had me laughing.
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Looks like so much fun!!! Wish I could be there. 😀 Love the food spread; the thinly sliced carrots are awesome!
I know what you mean about needing a better camera phone. I find myself wishing I had an iPhone-sized DSLR, lol.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
LOVE the flash mob!!!!
Cait's Plate says
GAH! SO jealous of the session on photography you got to go to – I’m taking a 3 day course on food photography in October and it absolutely cannot come fast enough. And that Flash Mob is amazing. Reminds me of the Modern Family one with Mitchell (do you watch that show? It’s hysterical – I highly recommend it if you don’t).
Also? I always put Cait’s Plate on mobile displays!! 🙂
Glad you’re enjoying yourself!
katie @KatieDid says
