Man, this lunch is not sitting well – if at all! Maybe I have a stomach leak? Sadly I am out of food and already ate my snacky apple!
I started with a Spinach Salad, drizzled in a little EVOO and topped with some leftover grilled veggies from yesterday.
Then moved on to a PB&J on Great Harvest Cinnamon Raisin bread. I think this is my problem. PB&J never fills me up. I have to treat it as a side dish and not a main course.
It sure tasted good though! (Hi Kelsey!)
And I ended with a Peach Chobani. Wish I’d packed some mix-ins for this!
Here are my snacks for Clinical tonight – but I just ate the apple!!! I waited 20 minutes but decided I was still hungry. I might trade the You Bar, which is kind of small, for a heaftier LaraBar.
I think I need to chug some H2O…or eat my apple core
I’ve got school work to do, then class, then class. Then the husband is making soup for my late, late dinner. Hope I can survive!
Candice says
Mmmm, cinnamon raisin! I say it’s totally worth it, even if it didn’t fill you up 😉 Or pack 2 Chobanis? Yogurt always fills me up.
Diana says
Water always makes me soooo full! Good idea!
lizzie says
Looks like you might have needed a bit more protein to fill you up. Maybe some cheese, hard bolied egg or meat to go on your salad.
Jenn says
Those Great Harvest breads always look so good. Is it a brand you can find everywhere? I’ve never seen them in my area before.
Moran says
Any PB combination I try never fills me up either 🙁
But I love it too much!!
theoddbod says
ahhh spinach, the number one food in the world…next to ice cream of course.
VeggieGirl says
DAMN that PBJ looks delish – maybe add extra PB for more satiety (and “holy yumness”?? 😉 ).
haya (living and learning) says
just don’t start gnawing on your arm!
Kristie says
Oh no, the days when the packed lunch is never enough. I hate those. Now I make sure to bring extra snacks just in case. It’s tough though because if I know I have the food, often I just want to eat it regardless if my hunger really necessitates it. But I guess I’d rather have too much and just deal with that than not bring enough and risk suffering grumbly tummy all throughout classes!
caitlin (see bride run) says
i hate that bottomless pit feeling!
i just wrote a post about the new “jessica simpson is fat” thing and i’d love to hear your thoughts (and your readers’)!

Rose says
Hope you make it through! I hate lunches like those – where you are just simply not satisfied. I say chug some water – and if you down the apple core.. be careful 😉
Caroline says
Your spinach looks incredibly green in your salad today.
I always pack extra snacks if I bring my lunches because I never know if it’ll fill me up. It’s strange psycologically how if I know I have extra food on hand, I never actually get hungry enough to eat it; but If i didn’t pack any extra food, I am always hungry!
Sally says
I always eat my apples whole – I just discard the seeds and the stem.
Missy (Missy Maintains) says
PB & J never fills me up either! I have to have at least 2 before I feel full at all. Yours does look delicious on that bread I must say!
Amelia says
Hmm I guess I never thought about it before but I’m the same way with PB&J. It’s one of my favorite sandwiches, but it really doesn’t fill you up enough.
Michelle says
Hang in there girl and drink lots of water..look fwd to your breakfast in the morning. That’s what helps me make it!
AlliJag says
I’m totally with you! PB&J never fills me up – it’s always delicious, but I’m hungry within in hour!
brandi says
I hate when I think I’ve packed enough but I’m still starving!
Hope you don’t get too hungry before you get to eat dinner!
leadingladylis says
when my husband and I first started dating we took a roadtrip to California (12 hour drive) and I packed all kinds of healthy snacks for us including apples. I gave him one and looked back a few minutes later to see him kind of gnawing on the stem and I was like, “Where’s the core?” he goes, “Oh…I ate it.” as though that were perfectly natural! Isn’t that weird! But yeah, so he always eats the core and sometimes he even eats the stem! I married a goat!
I tried Chobani for the first time and I LOVED it! I got a blueberry and I loved the texture and how it was not too sweet. Thanks for introducing them to me, Kath!
Love, Lis
Sharon says
Hope all goes well!
Jasmine (Sweet and Fit) says
hope you are able to tame your hunger =) have a great night and enjoy your late night soup
Maggie says
I hate it when I’m a bottomless pit and I didn’t bring enough. Hope you make it!
zestycook says
Hang in there Kath – You can make it!
Meg says
PB&J on GH cinnamon raisin! YUM!
Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) says
You’ll make it – I hate those bottomless pit days. Drink plenty of water. Maybe you’re just thirsty? Sometimes that works…other times, I just have to attack the almond butter jar with a spoon. 🙂
Betsy in Pittsburgh says
That bread looks soooo good, but I’d probably need 3 of those little sammies to fill up!
Biz says
Maybe add some nuts to the mix for added protein?
I know protein keeps me full, that’s why I love my egg sammies in the morning!
Mariposa says
i have to agree with the other posters.. maybe some more protein besides the peanut butter would have done! but the sandwich does look delish!
Sarah (Tales of Expansion) says
I know what you’re saying! As much as I try to tell myself that a pb sandwich should be enough calorically/protein-wise/fat-wise, it never does the trick all by itself.
FYI, I’m hosting the BSI this week for dates!!! Let me know if you have any exciting new ideas 🙂
Lara says
I would be starving too, not enough protein in there!
The Duo Dishes says
We’d suggest protein for the salad maybe…tofu or turkey? But the sammie’s bread looks good! You can see the big hunk ‘o raisins.
Shelby says
Wow I really need that cinnamon raisin bread ASAP! I bet it was amazing with PB&J!
Def. drink some more water, that should fill you up.
Kath says
Guys,
Are you forgetting that the Chobani was full of protein!?
Kath
Monique says
I feel the same way today! I need to have a good RUN and then maybe i will feel better! Feel better Kath
Kate says
I’m the exact same way! Any kind of pb toast for breakkie or peanut butter sandwich for lunch is just setting me up for snacking all day long. At least it looks amazing!
Joie de vivre says
Your bread looks yummy!
Kate says
Hi Kath! I have been following your blog for awhile and it’s great. Its the first one i check over my bowl of oats every morning.
i remembered you saying you spent your honeymoon in Sonoma Wine country and I am planning my own trip there in April..advice? old blog entries I can look over…couldn’t find them myself.
Thanks! feel free to pass along any advice about my blog too!
Oh She Glows says
I hate when I’m at work and nothing left to eat!!! that is the worst feeling. Hopefully your brain just took a bit longer for the food to register…lol. Sometimes all I need is about 15 mins and then I forget I was ever panicing about not having enough!

Sarah (lovINmytummy) says
I say trade the YouBar for a PB Cookie Larabar! Tee Hee
Lori says
PB & J fills me up just okay but PB and banana (even 1/3 of one mashed in) fills me up really good! Banana and PB +++ that combo is super.
Sorry about the dirty question…
Does anyone step on dog poo while running/walking outside? I always have to look down just to make sure….
K says
I looooooove PBJ 🙂 Hope you make it through your busy day!
thepinkpeppercorn says
Hope you make it through the day too!

Hi kath! I’m an american/french reader in Sweden (grew up completely overseas {in Africa and Asia!} and studying at university here), and I love you blog! I’m not a huge blogger, but as a 20 yer old who used to have disordered eating, you really inspire me to be healthy, fit, and happy!
Anyway, just saw this link about some pb products being under recall and even though I don’t eat american peanut butter, I know alot of you do! Check it out, it’s kind of scary
Thanks again kath, and greeting from freezing sweden!
Lena says
oops here is the link! I always do that!

I had the same kind of day yesterday with food. So happy that didn’t carry over into today.
Love the bread you use it looks so delicious and fresh!
Chris says
Hi Kath,
Love reading the blog. What kind of camera do you use? I’m looking for a new digital camera and printer. Love to hear suggestions, thank you 🙂
Kath says
Chris ,
Check the FAQ page 🙂

Elina says
PB&J’s never fill me up either! I don’t know how Cristin eats them all them time! Hope you ended up finding something else to satisfy you! 🙂
Meaghan says
Hey Kath! Did you see Top Chef tonight? Their quickfire challenge was all about oats! Your pumpkin oatmeal soooo would have won! Haha
Krista says
I ALWAYS eat my apple core…seeds too! Yep, really. At least I never have to search for a trashcan for the core. 🙂
Kath says
Meaghan ,
No I wont’ watch Top Chef, but that would have been a good one to see!!! Oats?! What all did they do?
K
Jess says
You’re not adding enough PB 😉
Mike Ferretti says
Kath,
Check this peanut butter company out. www.ilovepeanutbutter.com
The white chocolate peanut butter on white (I use a whole grain white) with slices of fresh strawberries is so good it should be regulated…
Sarah says
Hey Kath! I have the same problem with PB&J, it doesn’t fill me up quite enough, so I usually have to pack some hefty sides to go with it. But it still really is one of the best foods/sandwiches out there 😉
