Blue Apron is back on the menu! Whenever I start getting recipe fatigue I look to Blue Apron to keep dinner interesting. And with date nights at home and indoor restaurant dining at a minimum, getting both food and an experience delivered to your door is the perfect stay-at-home solution. I am SO excited to bring Blue Apron back on the menu!
When Thomas and I were first dating, we used to cook Blue Apron meals together all the time. We had a subscription and would split up the recipe tasks to cook a new-to-us recipe together.
(This was my favorite ever Blue Apron showcase post: Blue Apron in the Garden)
Recipe fatigue has crept back in
Since having Birch, admittedly our cooking energy has been running on low power mode. Add a little quarantine to the mix, and we’ve been feeling pretty stale about fresh ideas for the kitchen. You’ve seen it – we have taco night and homemade pizza every.single.week.
Jazzing up the menu with new recipes
Blue Apron reached out and asked if we needed a solution for recipe fatigue and I said YES as loud as I could. I truly think Blue Apron‘s recipes are impressive, delicious, and off-the-beaten path. We even make them over and over again (the chipotle meatloaf and panko salmon are our very favorite recipes!) I love that they keep all their past recipes in a Cookbook page so you can reference your favorites again and again.
Special Promo: $60 off!
I asked if you guys could have a special deal as well and I have a $60 off promo to share with you: get $60 off your first 3 boxes.
If you’ve tried Blue Apron before you do need a new account to get the promotion. It’s a great deal on food, especially if you’ve been doing grocery delivery and take out food for months. There is a lot of flexibility in the plan you choose, and you can change your servings, cancel, pause, or skip a week at any time.
Get two meals on your doorstep for just $27!
For the 2 person plan x 2 meals that’s normally $47 a week, get that for just $27 for the first 3 shipments. Plus you get to choose between 23 different recipes each week so you know you’ll get something you’re craving. I often focus on seafood, especially since they aim to include sustainable seafood as recommended by Seafood Watch, and recipe styles that I wouldn’t normally make at home.
My parents are going to try it for the first time! If mom can do it, you can too
So what was on the Blue Apron Menu this time?
Honey-Lime Tilapia with Sesame Seeds and Bok Choy Rice
This meal was the perfect showcase of flavors – sesame oil and sesame seeds (perfectly portioned in packets), a packet of Southern spices (garlic powder, ground mustard, smoked paprika and cayenne pepper), and honey + fresh lime.
Calabrian Shrimp + Spaghetti Squash with Capers, Kale, and Breadcrumbs
We LOVED this meal – the panko breadcrumbs toasted with dried oregano and olive oil made the whole recipe – I loved the crunchy topping!
The shrimp smelled so good cooking with the Calabrian Chile Paste.
I also loved the capers, and the kale and spaghetti squash packed in the fiber and nutrition.
Spicy Chicken Stir-Fry with Carrots + Green Beans was a hit as well – both kids enjoyed!
I hope you all will give Blue Apron a try if you haven’t or a re-try if you have. Skip that extra grocery store run, and checks one more “What’s for dinner?” off your list. Even as a once or twice a month treat, it’s always a fun experience.
Thanks to Blue Apron for sponsoring this post.

We are in Canada so can’t get Blue Apron, but I just started using a similar service, it’s like the best gift when the food box arrives mid week and it saved us from ordering Friday night pizza two week starts in a row! It’s hard to order food when there’s a full meal waiting in your fridge:)

YES!!!! You crushed me!! I had to get a ride in early because we are on a birthday surprise trip 🙂 I wish they had a chat feature on the board so I could have said hi too!

Do you think a four person order would feed five if one is in preschool? Also do you find the meals usually appealing to relatively adventurous kiddos also?
Kath Younger says
Yes and yes – for sure. The four person servings are very generous – we always have leftovers. Occasionally the meals have a spice/garnish/sauce that I leave off to make the meal seem more simple. And/or I will deconstruct for Mazen so it looks “normal” and not a mix, but they are very adaptable and there are also a lot of kid friendly options each week.
