We celebrated Birch turning three and Halloween back to back. Here’s the recap!
Birchday + Halloween
Happy Birchday!
Three is the age where they start to really “get” birthdays. Birch was so excited for his birthday this year, and it made all the celebrating extra fun!
Rainy Gifts
We had a super soggy weekend with downpours on his birthday Friday the 29th. He went to preschool in the morning and came home to open gifts from family.
Mom and dad got him a Tonies Box (this starter set) plus a counting songs character. My niece Emerson loves her box, and Birch played with it over the summer and loved it. The characters sing songs and tell stories. It’s great for quiet time.
We gifted him a lot of Lovevery sets from the 3 year old play kit – including this great modular house – and the famous wooden block set.
The biggest hit though was this excavator. It’s all he talked about getting prior to his bday!
Family Time
We had Thomas’s family over for dinner to join the party. My parents hadn’t seen them since the pandemic began!
Jr. Treasure Hunt
Mazen orchestrated a treasure hunt (with help from mom) for Birch and his cousin.
These two love to play dress up!
Chili Time
Thomas made his famous bacon + beef chili with Fritos on top!
Happy Birchday To You!
Caked Up Cville returned for an encore with funfetti cupcakes!
And when it was time to sing…!
Saturday
Hours of play time with Grammie!
Leftover chili
Three Times Five
In the afternoon we had a joint party with the 5 kiddos who have been friends since birth.
Then:
And now:
(Out of order though!)
Naturally it was a Halloween costume party!
And within 30 minutes of the start it started raining 🙁
We had been watching the weather all week and the forecast looked dry all day. Due to covid we had planned to stay spread out outside, but we made the last-minute choice to move to our porch, at least to keep in the fresh air. It was a bit tight, but we made it work!
Hunting For More Treasures
When the rain did clear up a bit, we went back to the patio for a soggy treasure hunt! Mom bought little trinkets for each child like she did for Mazen’s party at this age.
Food Truck Dinner
We walked down the street where our neighbors were hosting the Farmacy Food Truck and picked up tacos and quesadillas for dinner.
Halloween!!
Moving on to the next holiday : )
We had perfect Halloween weather (warm and dry) and SO many people were out this year! We had a blast with the boys, and they were both so into it.
Costumes for all!
I tossed on my witch clothes plus a hat I borrowed from Nona and hot pink lips, naturally. Mazen was a Water Moccasin, Birch a pirate (if you can’t tell) and T pulled out his famous Beetlejuice costume that got the most compliments of us all!
We put our own candy bowls out with a sign (as a lot of people did for both covid and trick or treating) and hit the road! Sign by Mazen!
Birch was a little scared at some of the houses and Mazen would come back and hold his hand. Mazen also helped him say “Trick or Treat,” “Thank you,” and “Happy Halloween.” He was nailing it by the end!
Flashback to Halloween 2018!!
When we brought our little pumpkin home from the hospital <3

Happy birthday Birch!

Happy birthday to the pirate!! Thomas’ chili sounds so interesting. The weather has finally cooled down here and this weekend would be a perfect time to recreate it. Would he be willing to share his “famous” recipe?

I’ll see!
Kath Younger says
he says it’s Pinch of Yum’s recipe!

Thank you from an allergy mom for having a nut-free candy bowl separate from the chocolate/peanut candy!! I wish all were as thoughtful!
