Went for another fun run this morning!!! I’m getting a bit more used to it, and settling on 4 miles online (rather than 5-6) makes it easier to do. So does the beautiful spring warm mornings!!
I was hydrated and dated up within 15 minutes of waking and out the door.
It was not my best run, but not my worst either. 4.0 miles on the dot! I also love the route I’ve been doing. I’m one of those people that prefers to do a mindless familiar route than something unexpected and different – although unexpected is always fun every now and then. But I like not having to think about my route or distance on these morning runs.
Overnight oats were waiting!!
The Night Ingredients
- 1/3 cup raw rolled oats
- 1/3 cup plain yogurt
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Half banana
- Pinch salt
The Morning Ingredients
- 1/4 muffin top
- ~1/3 cup homemade granola
- Sunflower butter <3
LOVED this bowl!!
I also love my cute little half cup of coffee mug more than any other mug I have ever owned!!!!!! I love the size + design. Thanks so much Jill!
And with that, I’m off to bike to work!
Big wheels keep on turnin’

I adore your coffee cup. Pottery is so beautiful and makes such a difference in the level of enjoyment of the meal. Recently, I’m drinking coffee from my Season 25/ Oprah mug!

Love your place mat!! Have you seen this tee from Jcrew Outlet? Its a little expensive for a t-shirt, but I just loved it so much that I ordered one last week.

That is by far my favorite oatmeal bowl of yours — I just love the big handle!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I’m with you on the mindless running route thing! I tend to like to zone out completely so if I’m running a route that I’m familiar with, it helps to make sure I don’t get lost! 🙂
Christine (Merf) says
Diggin your overnight oats. I forgot to make mine last night and am so disappointed.
We’ve decided to come to your bakery either the weekend of the 11th or the 18th. I can’t wait! Going to road trip it with my little boys.
KathEats says
Yay!!! Can’t wait to meet you!
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
I like doing familiar running routes too.
I do one route regularly which is ALL county roads (ie. straight, flat, and miles long) and that can get really boring.
But I Especially like one route that is through nature with lots of trees and shade.
Kristen Waby says
So cute! I love the place-mat!
Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me says
Cute spoon! Weird that I noticed that first….lol
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Cute nakin! Have you seen the bicycle plates at West Elm? They are white with blue hand-drawn bikes on them. Very cute and almost identical to your napkin!
KathEats says
NO!! I NEED THEM!

I like the same ol’ running routes too 🙂 It’s nice to know exactly how far I’ve gone, or have got to go, and to know when the hills are and when they’ll end!
Have a great day 🙂
r8chel says
I can’t tell how small the mug is, but I guess it makes the bowl look bigger than it actually is. 🙂

Do you actually measure out your toppings or do you just guess-estimate?!
Sounds like your off to a good start!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
Overnight oats are a great breakfast on an already steamy (at least here in CLT) morning. 🙂
That half-cup coffee mug is adorable! Though I’d have to fill it about 6 times. hee, hee.

Rebecca says
I love that bowl (and what’s inside it)!!! Pretty dishes make eating so much more fun 🙂
I totally agree about morning runs. Especially with the weather getting warmer, I love being out just as the sun is coming up. And running early always help get my day started on the right “foot”. 😉
Heather says
I typically run the same route – every day. honestly, I notice different things every time I run.
I wish I lived closer to a running path – I have a hard time justifying driving somewhere to run.
Enjoy your day!
Khushboo says
I prefer running familiar routes too. Last time I branched out, I got lost and it took me an hour to find my way back!
Just made some overnight oats for tomorrow. With the exception of adding cinnamon, my batch is bang on the same!
Kelly @foodiefresh says
That mug IS really cute. I like the little place for your thumb on the top of the handle. 🙂

Well said!!
I get my best thinking done on the same ole, same ole routes. I can truly zone out and detach and check out which helps me think extra well 🙂
I love your mugs and bowls. Always the best!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I have the same 4 mile route that I always do but I’ve done it at least a hundred times. I like to shake it up!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
simple, lovely, classic KERF breakfast 🙂
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
I am in love with the idea of eating breakfast *after* my morning run. That sounds so ritualistic and lovely. Tomorrow I’ll try the “dating up” method and see how it goes. 😀
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
I don’t like to think about my run routes either. We stick to greenways mostly for this reason. Also, I’m afraid of cars… not in general. Just when running.
Laura says
Are you still accepting drop in visitors to the Bakery before 6/3? Am going to be in town this weekend and would like to show it to my Mom from Ohio!
KathEats says
Yeah! I don’t know if we’ll be here over the weekend though – when are you planning to come by?
Laura says
Probably on Monday.
KathEats says
Oh cool – we’ll be here all day!
Katie says

Megan says
Love that placemat thing! And that is one gorgeous breakfast bowl!
Eileen says
Totally with you on the mindless routes. I have a 3-mile and a 4-mile loop that I could do in my sleep, and most days, they’re what I truly prefer to do.
Now, for a place where I’m *not* quite with you. I tried overnight oats for the first time this morning and didn’t like them at all. 🙁 I think it was the yogurt; I may have liked them better with milk. But for summertime, I think I’m more inclined to make two or three days’ worth of oatmeal at a time, and have the leftover portions just slightly warmed up. Oh well … I never mind a kitchen experiment!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
Eileen – I didn’t like overnight oats the first time I made them (first few times, actually). But I love them now. Personally, I like the yogurt aspect of them; and for the record, the chia seeds make ALL the difference in the world. It’s a consistency thing, for me. And a little nut butter in the bottom of the bowl, doesn’t hurt either. 😉

The other day I experimented with adding granola to overnight oats — YUM! What an awesome idea.

Tori (Fresh Fruition) says
Yum yum yum! Those oats look so good.
I’m pretty slow-going in the mornings, so I totally know how you feel with not wanting to think so much!
Sarah says
Nice job on the run. I like doing the mindless runs as well. When I don’t have to calculate my map ahead of time. Then I can let my mind go somewhere else.
Yummy breakfast!!
Anastasia says
The oats look so delicious! Sunflower butter is just amazing. It’s so good! I’m liking the coffee mug too.. very cute!
Michelle says
So envious of your motivation to lace up the sneakers in the morning. If I’m getting up early, it’s usually to take the dog to the park. Otherwise, I feel guilty!
Katie says
I LOVE morning runs! I started my morning with a 4 miler as well. It was amazing!
I tried sunflower butter one time and wasn’t a big fan but I’ve been seeing it all over the blog-o-sphere lately, I feel like I should give it another chance. 🙂

Cutest cup EVER!!! Where can we get one?
KathEats says
Anthropologie
Morgan @ moments of mmm says
I love the mug! My mugs are all fairly large and I never fill them more than 1/2, I think I need a baby one like this!
I also absolutely need some of TJ’s sunflower butter now! The picture was so enticing! HA
Maria says
Love the cute new mug. It definitely is the perfect size.
About a month ago you posted about the bag that you use to cary your SLR and I can’t find the post where you mentioned it. I have been admiring it in your photos ever since. What type of bag is it?
KathEats says
I have a Lowepro bag and Jo Totes bag that I use

I have eaten Overnight Oats every morning for the past month or so. I LOVE THEM.
I use the one were you have 1/2 cup of oatmeal, yogurt, and almond milk. Then the next morning I add some defrosted frozen berry mix and banana…and then a tbsp of whatever peanut butter I am craving (Nutzao, white chocolate dreams, chocolate underground…)
I do like some yogurets better then others. Stonyfield is the best but having trouble finding the plain..been using dannons.
Jenny (Fit Girl Foodie) says
What a cute little mug for your overnight oats. That muffin top topping must be amazing! 🙂
JoNita says
I just love how you combine so many different things. I can never think of combinations to put together or things to buy. It always looks great!
Thank you for sharing. I really admire you.

Just have to say that I finally had chia seeds in my oats today and they were so hearty and fluffy! Add that they were part of OIAJ and it was the best breakfast. 🙂
