Howdy from the bread shop, now serving Red White & Blueberry muffins and Peach Blackberry Savannah bars!
And a Decaf iced coffee for owner #1!
All of you who have tolerated my complaints about coffee + caffeine for the past year and recommended decaf, thank you. All I needed was to find a decaf I liked!! And thanks to Shenandoah Joe’s – I have!
I didn’t get hungry for lunch all morning, which is odd because I did NOT nibble on a thing!!! Probably because I kept busy + hydrated : )
Leftover gazpacho filled to the brim with garbanzos. LOVED this combo!!!! Also loved the roasted corn on the inside.
Complete with a crunchy slice of Dakota off the breadboard. I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of Dakota…until I put it in my mouth!!!!!!!!! When given a choice I would rather have High Five!, Nine Grain, Cinnamon Raisin, Popeye. But today I had an inkling for Dakota and forgot how darn good this bread is!!! It’s all about the seedy crunch.
And the balls of millet. Can’t forget those!
We’re staying at work late tonight for our first official employee meeting – but that means we get to crank up the ovens and make some PIZZA!!! Of course on GH dough. Matt just arrived with a trash bag of garden greens for a salad and a keg (and it’s NOT full of beer!)
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
ohhh Pizza 🙂 what a way to do an employee meeting! 🙂
I LOVE the sound of those bars and muffins mm mmm! 🙂
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
Yum, I love adding garbanzos to soup – they go with all flavours and types of soup. I call them chickpeas though!
Baking 'n' Books says
Me too. They are the same thing – right? I’ve never had a big bowl of them like that though! …oh, wait – I have had tubs of hummus – that definitely counts. 🙂
Monika @ Powered by paprika says
That looks like such a tiny, cute, little lunch!
Mary Catherine says
After drooling over your Cville Granola for weeks, I finally hit up the Great Harvest in Austin to see if they make granola… they do! Picked up a bag of their Cashew Granola Crunch which has HUGE clusters of soft goodness. Do you all use the same base recipe? I’m in love. Also picked up a loaf of Honey Whole Wheat – such a treat!
KathEats says
I don’t think it’s the same recipe, but I’m sure their’s is good!
Kelsey says
Millet is by far my favorite seed in any bread or baked good! And to think I used to consider it bird food… 🙂

Pizza on GH dough!? Is there really anything better than that?? I don’t think so 😉

Can you get pizza dough from any GH? I always just buy mine from TJ’s but if GH sells it I would love to buy there.
KathEats says
I think you can by special request
Angie says
Erin– I use GH dough for pizza! Just call whatever GH you are near and make sure if there is a certain bread you want on the schedule you call the day before so they can save it bright and early while they are kneading the dough 🙂 🙂

Leftovers make the best lunches. Easy peasy. Do you think gazpacho would be good warm?
KathEats says
No, it separates in a way that wouldn’t be ideal if it were warm
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Normally, I munch ALL morning. But.. lately, I have been super busy at work.. and don’t even think about nibbling. Goes to show that being bored can be a main cause of my mindless eating!

Johanna B says
Sparkling water…
Karen says
I’m just wild about the unique texture of chickpeas and they are such a verstaile legume to add to salads, to roast and, of course, to create hummus. And, I second your suggestion re. Jenna’s Chana Masala…love that spicy recipe! Those garbanzos look delish in that bowl of gazpacho!
Have a nice evening, Kath!
Olena (The Fit Gourmet) says

I love millet in other things – like Ezekiel tortillas and bread. Kind of odd, but I like to pick out the millet while I eat said tortilla or bread and eat them individually. 😛
lynn @ the actor's diet says
mmmm love the overflowing chickpeas!
Corinne says
Seriously coffe isn’t a bad thing…too much coffee is. I’ve been wondering about your determination to avoid coffee. It actually has a lot of health benefits and antioxidants and of course the mood boosting effects, as long as kept to less than 3 cups per day. It totally fits into a healthy lifestyle. I know I would never be without my morning cup of coffee, no decaf, choffy or any substitite would do and it’s simply not worth it to me. I can send you studies from med journals if you like…
Other than that kudos to you for such a healthy lifestyle. We can all learn from you.
KathEats says
You must have skimmed over my posts about the reason for cutting back on coffee! I actually did a nutrition project citing the research that 2 cups or less is good for you. I love it and don’t think there’s anything wrong with drinking it, as you say.
My reason for cutting back had to do with addiction and headaches as well as sleeping. If I have more than 1 cup I get jittery and can’t sleep and if I have less I get really bad headaches. I was clearly addicted and I didn’t like it! So I cut it out for the month of April and gradually added it back.
Weee says
So why don’t you just drink 1 cup exactly? That way you don’t get jittery + you avoid headaches
KathEats says
Because 1 cup exactly had me addicted!! Geez, half a cup still had me addicted. I’m really sensitive to caffeine.
Kristen @ The Red Velvet Life says
I’ve never made gazpacho, but it sounds so good with garbanzo beans! Might have to try that 🙂
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says

Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I love the Dakota but the honey whole wheat is my absolute favorite!!
Nicole Dyan says
I went to my local Great Harvest today for the first time and ahhh… Cinnamon Chip… it’s going to take a lot of self restraint to not eat it all today! They also had a blue cheese onion sourdough which is also to die for. I spoke with the owner, and met her son who was manning the coffee station. LOVE IT! Can’t wait to go back and try out some other varieties!
Cate says
I love Dakota! It’s my favorite GH bread.
Kaley [Y Mucho Más] says
