Ahoy there!
I just returned from a 6.4 mile run around the island. Maybe tomorrow I’ll tackle 7! Actually I’m going to take a day off of running tomorrow 1) because it’s probably going to rain in the morning and 2) because I think there was sand in my toes that caused some pretty ugly blisters this morning. #beachproblems ; )
Our rain left puddles that Mazen and Pea loved bursting through with the golf cart!
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Bald Head Blues, a high-end clothing line started here on the island. You can also find their brand in select retail stores in the south.
I love their tagline: “Clothing for Coasting!”
And the little goft cart logo that dons so many of the items!
The maker of these incredibly cute wooden sunglasses is a friend of the owner of BHB. I really wanted these blue and white aviators, but I knew the price was a little steep for my sunglass-crushing ways. They are by Tommy Owens!
In honor of the anniversary, they held a free BBQ with a whole pig pickin’, baked beans, slaw, hushpuppies and kegs of beer. Bald Head has wonderful community, and I love that this was open to the public. We met some of my parents’ friends there, and it was some of the best BBQ I’ve had.
Afterwards M and I took mom and dad to the ferry because they had a wedding to attend on the mainland. We went to get ice cream for an afternoon treat!
After that we went to the beach for a few hours. I forgot my phone and lost all sense of time and connection. It was actually quite freeing! I missed out on some cute photos of M though, and we saw a huge pod of dolphins – including a baby!!
We picked G+P up at the 5:30 ferry and headed to dinner at the Shoal’s Club where we had my sister’s wedding two years ago!
We enjoyed this Cline Zin with dinner (a stop on our wine country trip!)
And for dinner I had grouper with coconut risotto underneath. Epic!
There he goes…
I had a few bites of cake mom and dad brought home for dessert and was in bed and asleep by 10pm!
This morning we are eating light because we’re going to brunch in a bit at the Club. M had pears and an almond butter roll. I snagged a bite of his roll lid for a pre-run snack.
It was a lovely morning, and BHI is simply the best place to run! Getting miles in is so much easier without stoplights and traffic.
I went to the island coffeeshop for a decaf cappucino afterwards!
Have a great rest of your weekend!

A family of dolphins? With a little baby dolphin? and NO PICTURES?? Well how conveeeenient! I’m having a hard time believing this story, Kath. LOL! That is so awesome! And those glasses are hot. One day I’m going to invest in some quality shades. Might be worth it as a treat. They probably wouldn’t break as easily anyway.
