I’ve been up since 6 and am just now eating breakfast. If that doesn’t tell you how hectic things have been than nothing will!
I was actually going to go to 6AM Body Pump today, but last night I decided rest was more important. I’ll lift some pans today at the bakery
I showered and found a giant bee in my room. I had to pull the old “top with jar then slide cardboard underneath” trick, but he was a big, wild one and my adrenaline got a kick start on the day.
Had to use a sock in case he stung me through the paper!!
Then he didn’t want to fly away! Poor little guy was so scared!
I ate a date [for biking energy] and decided to eat breakfast once I got there – ha – no time for that!
Matt had a giant catering order for me to do when I walked in the door, and then we had lovely customers to serve!
I was able to snack on a giant Cville Cluster Granola to tide me over
Until-
Bakery In A Jar!

Our High Five dough didn’t turn out, so we had to scrap that bread Two more snafus – not good!
But….Happy Day!
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says

I’m loving that jar – especially that it contains the bakery goodies!!! 🙂 Way to be creative and not forget about breakfast during your busy day.
Lisa Fine says
You’ve been open for a week – congrats!
I love the photos of all the baked goods in your possession. And I’m jealous that you have access to so many delicious foods all the time. I’m enjoying living vacariously through you in this business venture.
By the way, I got to a ticket to Healthy Living Summit, so I’ll see you in August!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
Yikes! We used to get wasps in our house when I was a kid and my parents would do the same thing. I would probably scream and leave my house until it was gone, haha!
Khushboo says
Right that’s it. I’m moving to C-Ville and applying to your GH! Free bread AND empty nut butter jars, how can I not!!!
Natalia - a side of simple says
Looks like you’re starting Friday off at full speed!! I’m sure you mentioned this but is there a day a week or any specific time that you have off completely from the bakery or when the bakery is closed?
KathEats says
Sundays!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
You’re an amazing bee catcher! Hope your day improves! 🙂
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
I feel so left out not working today. Um, that’s weird! Let me know if you need a walk buddy in the afternoon.
I hope the rest of the day goes well!
Coral says
those brownies look KILLER! are they fudgy, cakey, or somewhat in between?
KathEats says
Definitely more on the fudgy side 🙂
lynn @ the actor's diet says
you MUST be busy – it was very weird waking up on the west coast and not having a KERF morning post in my reader!
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
What a busy day already!! But busy is good 🙂
Barbara says
OMG. I’ll take one of everything pictured…except for the bug.
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Yum, bakery in a jar! I hate having to deal with wasps, especially after just getting randomly stung outside recently!

Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
Bummer about the High Five bread. Has it been successful before?
KathEats says
Oh yeah, today was a fluke
Jennifer says
Eek!!!! I don’t think I would have had the nerve to capture the bee. I would have left the room and closed the door. (haha) I’m glad you didn’t get stung.
All of those muffins and brownies look sooooo delicious! It must be hard looking at those all day long. 🙂
Mom says
I have discovered that travel mugs are excellent for bug rescue. Lot of distance between you and the bug, since the mugs are usually pretty tall and a nice fitting lid to temporarily secure the bug in the mug until release outdoors seconds later.
Emily @ One Sweet Vegan says
Wow, an 8:00 (west coast) post–you ARE busy! 🙂
Laura Jane @ Recovering Chocoholic says
Sounds like you’re busy. I love the pictures of the baked goods – I really want to eat one of those brownies! I definitely do the jar trick for bugs. It is scary!
Lindsey says
I can’t wait to find a Great Harvest when I visit the States this summer! Too bad I won’t be in your area! All your goodies look so good!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
You guys should sell “Bakery in a Jar” using your empty jars!! I’d definitely buy it – everything is all mixed up already and perfect for grabbing on the go!

Monika @ Powered By Paprika says
Sounds like a busy morning!
What kind of muffins are those? They look delish 🙂

Anastasia says
Everything looks so wonderful! The muffins look especially delicious! :]
Lauren says
AHHHH I am terrified of bees, they’re pretty much the thing I’m most afraid of. I just run away like a wimp and call someone else to take care of it when I see one, haha! That jar looks and sounds delicious, good idea!
jill says
What happened to the dough??
KathEats says
They got behind schedule and it was too hard to knead
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Oh I love eating food in jars to get all the gooey yummyness of the sides 🙂
Better luck with the next loaf!

What times do the bakery open and close during the day?
I love that second shot of those blueberry muffins…(?) – it is so clear and REAL. Like I’m staring at them in real life 😉

I’m digging the pics – total bread-porn. 🙂 AND the oats in a sample jar! I am close to an empty jar and am unnaturally excited about it. Haha!
jenna k says
i think wasps are so much scarier than bees! bees are fuzzy and pretty, but wasps are just so creepy-looking. hopefully it was just a dirt-dobber… pretty sure they don’t sting! 🙂
Janie says
Kath-
Your giant catering order was for my work! My co-worker just sent an email about how delicious the treats were. I’m about to go try some:)

Hannah (tickledtofu) says
So many delicious baked goods! You must be in heaven!

Did make make all those scrumptious pastries? Oh man, that’s such a amazing gift to be able to do that 🙂 That’d be intense trouble for me, as i’d eat ALL the pastries 🙂
Have a lovely day!

Well I didn’t – but our crew did!
Katie says
Happy Friday and you can send those baked goods to me, that was my order ; ) ha!

Maybe, if you haven’t tossed it yet, can make croutons with the flopped High 5? It’s my favorite!
KathEats says
I told Matt this – great suggestion!

YUM dates and muffins haha. I always eat dates before I bike or whatever, fav thing to do is make a “sandwich” out of two pecan halfs and squish the date in between *bliss* 🙂 love all the pics too!

Those brownies look AWESOME! I wish there was a Great Harvest closer to me!! 🙁
Grace @ Healthy Dreaming says
Those baked goods look delicious! YUM!
Cassie @ Back to Her Roots says
EEK! Wasps are so much scarier than bees! And their stings hurt about a million times worse (although not nearly as bad as horse flies or hornets).
And all of your posts are SO making me wish there was a Great Harvest nearby.
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
I wish I could ride my bike to great harvest and they could make me breakfast like that haha! Excellent bfast 🙂
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
That breakfast sounds like it was WELL worth the wait! holy YUM!
Melissa says
Coveting your bakery in a jar! I hate when I don’t have time to eat and then I realize I am ravenous! Good job not devouring those brownies . . . I suppose the customers waiting for their catering order kept you in line. 😉
Brenda says
Yum! Wish I was on the receiving end of those catering goodies!

Wow, everything looks so delish! Thanks for sharing!
Hannah says
Oh, to live a life of nut butter sampling! Go Kath!
Marissa says
Hah, that’s a nice perk to having a bakery–an endless supply of almost-empty nut butter jars! It takes me probably close to a month to go through a peanut butter jar, so those are a rare treat for me!
Paulina (One Smile Ahead) says
Bakery in a jar is such a great idea! 😀 All the baked goods look amazing. I would love to try the Cville Cluster Granola. Anyway we can get some online? :]
