Been a great day here – nice weather (although it’s getting cloudy!), a nice workout and a very productive afternoon.
A run was on my agenda today, but instead I ended up walking 2 miles to the butcher and back, then dropping off my meat, running 2.5 miles, then showering and walking a mile to the bakery. Workout combined with errands and pleasure walking was great fun!
Matt and I had a power lunch to discuss our plans for the afternoon. Before that, I got to meet a blog reader who brought me 2 bottles of beer!! Our employees joke that anyone who walks in with a camera or a bottle of beer turns out to be blog reader. ‘Tis true! [Thanks Kim!]
I had Lemony Hummus on Cville Crunch with cheddar
And he had the new Chicken Salad Sandwich with Spiced Pecans on Sourdough! [Sadly the chicken is not local…I tried really hard to find some but lucked out on that one..]
Post-lunch foods [refuse to call such delicious things dessert!] were Pumpkin Oh
And a bit of cookie a while later. Quality control!
We are mid-way through a lobby reorganization. Debuting some new items and making space for the holiday season
!!
Two OpenSky items that I have loved turned into bakery items – Dr. Pete’s Praline Glaze and Lesley Elizabeth dipping oils! Both are fabulous in flavor and equally versatile.
Fun dinner planned tonight!!

I want of those mugs, they’re so cute! And the pumpkin cake with I’m assuming iced cream cheese filling looks to die for!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Looking good! I really like those GH mugs!! 🙂
Sweet and Savvy says
Rainbow oatmeal cookie? That sounds divine. May I ask what makes it a “rainbow” oatmeal? 🙂
KathEats says
M&Ms!

Have you sold a lot of gifts cards for the holidays thus far?
What do you prefer, the Naturally Nutty brand, Barney Butter brand, or Sunbutter brand?
Very cool mugs!

Not too many yet, but we hope to!
Sunbutter!!

Lunch looks yummy per usual! I love lemon hummus!
Your bakery is so cute! 🙂
Cait's Plate says
It’s definitely quality control – gotta make sure the goods are good 😉
Glad you had such a productive morning and a nice lunch with Matt!
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
Yeah for holiday items! Love the mugs. And lemon hummus is my absolute favorite! The sandwiches look great. 😉
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
I love your lemony hummus! Might have to stop by for lunch sometime soon 🙂 Today I made you black bean coconut dip and used it as a salad topper – SO GOOD! Love the tropical flavor!
Mindy Lord says
I had almost the exact same sandwich for lunch today. Sadly, though, my slices of bread were Trader Joe’s multigrain! Ever since I started reading your blog I have always wanted to go to a GH in my area. I found one about 15 miles away, and my boyfriend and I are going in about 2 weeks (he just doesn’t know it yet) The Pumpkin Oh makes me want to go NOW though.
Kori says
Everything looks wonderful! Are you selling the mugs only in stores or are you considering shipping them as well? Would love one if that is the case!! 🙂
KathEats says
Only in the store for now – shipping is so complicated!
Kori says
Totally understandable. Thank you for the very quick response! Have a wonderful rest of the day!!
Elisabeth says
Love the mugs, too! Maybe sometime you’ll be able to ship them thru Opensky 😉
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
Love the mugs! I have a thing for pottery. 😀

This sounds like a fantastic day! I love all the new items you guys are selling! I should check if the local Great Harvest here sells nut butter!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
can’t wait to see the holiday goods. you’re so lucky you get to decorate the store and go overboard (if you want to)
Ashleigh says
That Praline Glaze looks so yummy. What is your favorite thing to use it with/on?
KathEats says
Oh gosh, everything! From sandwiches to beans to meats to veggies.
Abby [email protected] says
Wow! Everything looks amazing and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for dinner tonight!
Jenn says
I love your mugs. I wished I lived nearby to get one. Do you ship to Canada?
Johanna B says
Your photos reminded me that I need to pick-up a spatula today. Thanks.
Anna @ On Anna's Plate says
So cool that so many of your open sky brands are now at the bakery too…they must love you there 🙂
Marie@feedingfive says
Funny I too do quality control on anything yummy my kids have. I have never been able to find naturally nutty at any stores near me, give my Great Harvest the heads up and recommend they sell it. (Temecula) Also their granola looks good, but yours looks downright delicious. I never buy granola because I make it so often but I would buy yours.
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Matt’s sandwich looks SO GOOD! Yours does too, but his… DROOL! 🙂
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Cute mugs! Love the little tour 🙂
Lindsay @ bikingbeforebed says
Those mugs always make me smile! My family gets Great Harvest rolls for Thanksgiving every year. I remember having to put in our order so early! With all of your behind the scenes pics, now I understand why.

maybe you can help me since you seem to be in the know about opensky. i haven’t ordered anything from them for awhile and i went to the site today and it’s changed completely! i can’t figure out how to search for an item, i have to just follow someone? but people seem to only have a few items for sale. it’s really confusing me. for example i wanted to look at more hail merry products but i can’t find them by anyone but you but they are in a bundle which i don’t want. if you have an advice let me know.
KathEats says
Hey Bitt,
They have changed things around a bit, and some of the items that were once on sale are no longer available. You still have to follow someone to see/have access to their sales. Here’s the landing page where you can explore and follow people:
https://opensky.com/sales
There are lots of celebrities who have joined in!
Here’s my page where you can see my sales, along with today’s Hail Merry:
https://opensky.com/katheats
You’ll also get news via email when the sales start.

I would like to buy the wooden spoons.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Every time you mention the Dr. Pete’s Praline Glaze, I want it.
And those mugs you have on display, the ones that look like handmade pottery with the two-tone glazes…so pretty!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says

Ellie@fitforthesoul says
all the GH items are really adorable~~love the rustic look to them 🙂
Julie says
Your store is a stark contrast to my nearest one. The one here is rustic, with dark woods. I love both looks!
Kristin says
I want your chicken salad sandwich! I’m guessing it was as tasty as it looks. Also, the oatmeal rainbow cookie looks so colorful. It seems you found some great foods at the store today!
Hope says
Your store looks awesome! I’m loving those mugs! Super cute 🙂
Teal says
Kath,
Had you “lucked out on that one,” you would have been successful in your attempt to find local chicken.
I think what you meant to say was you “were out of luck on that one.”
A READER says
…Teal is correct.
KathEats says
You know…when I was typing that it felt wrong. But I just ignored it! I use this phrase correctly in speech all the time, but sometimes when writing I forget English!
Khushboo says
That oatmeal rainbow cookie looks SO yum…I read a comment that it’s with M&M’s (yum) but if you really want to spruce it up, try it with candy-coated sunflower seeds instead…although I’m not sure how cost-effective that would be!
KathEats says
Great suggestion!
Katie says
I like your “quality control” comment. Just let me know if you ever need any help. 😉
Peach says
your comment about the chicken is just too Portlandia 😉 have you seen the skit?
KathEats says
I have – love it!
