Mystery guest revealed – AnneP is hard core! She is mid-way through a long road trip from Tampa to DC and stopped in for a leg-stretching run and lunch in KERFville.
I took her to the greenway and we literally pounded out 5 miles at a fast pace. We both typically run right around a 9-minute mile, so we challenged each other to break 9 minutes. Our Garmins said we averaged about 8:53, so rock on. I am egg-zausted and my legs are so tired and I was huffing and puffing just to shave off that extra 10 seconds or so. And it was HOT. When I pulled in the last few yards, I was doing a 7:00 mile. Need an Epsom Salt bath.
Interesting that our Garmins were slightly off from each other – Anne’s hit 5 miles 0.3 miles before mine (hence the extra 10 seconds).
What better way to recharged than an EarthFare salad!
We debated fancy lunch places, but all we really wanted were big salad bar salads.
And Honest Tea, which I am now a big fan of!
Thought of the day –
I think EarthFare knew we were coming because all of my favorites were out: The.Best.Salmon, sweet potato salad, BBQ tofu, baked tofu, butternut squash salad, kale salad, pesto pasta salad. Plus lots of veggies and little bites of things
So stuffed right now! (Dressing on the side that I barely used)

#HLS
I still have so many Summit recap posts I want to read, and there were so many of you who I wanted to get to know more – and even more who I didn’t even get a chance to meet! The whole point of the Summit was to create a platform for bloggers and readers to get together in one city and play. As I mentioned in the opening remarks on Saturday, writing to you all each day is no big deal for me, but being there in person was very intimidating! I’m actually pretty shy in social settings, especially big groups, so I apologize if I didn’t get to meet you in person. All the more reason to get started on HLS 2010

Are all the funky characters gone? Helon told me about an auto format setting in Word that WLW also had and I changed it (turning off smart "") and it seems to have worked….

Off to the farmer’s market with my hub! Can’t wait to sit down and relax tonight.
Eve says
I’m impressed that you ran 5 miles in the heat! And beat your normal pace! It’s so hot here in NYC today!
Love the big salad 🙂

Yes! I want to come to HLS 2010 🙂

I haven’t had a hugh jass salad in a minute, I need to put that on my to-do list.
Kristin @ Iowa Girl Eats says
Awww what a fun visitor! I’m excited to see the return of EF salads – you’ve always got SUCH a great mix going on in those!!
Pearl says
Hi Kath, just wanted to let you know that I am still seeing some funny characters in random places in the blog. Not a big deal though!
brandi says
what a fun meet up! everytime I see one of these salads, I am sad that we don’t have an EarthFare or anything like it!
have fun at the market!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Kath – I’ve been thinking about a career in nutrition for a while, but I’m not sure what I would do. I would not want to work in a hospital/clinical setting or work 9-5 hours. I want a variety of tasks and don’t necessarily want to do a lot of consulting. I am very interested in food / healthy lifestyles / fitness, and would really like to make a career out of it, but I’m not sure how. Any advice or suggestions?
Ali says
looks like fun…I really need to try Honest Tea!

Hi Kath,
I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time now, and I decided to start one of my own. I have no blogging experience, and I know it’s not that great, but I wondered if you might take a look at it and let me know what you think and if you have any tips to make it better?
Thanks!
Traci says
Nice job with the 5 miles today! I’m off to do mine at 6:15 tonight. Here in Boston its a hot one today… 90’s and VERY humid! Should be fun. And your comment on you being shy/quiet in social settings suprised me. You seem to be very outgoing, have an awesome personality and be confident!
Michele | aka Raw Juice Girl says
You both look so refreshed and pretty with your big, gorgeous salads!
And I LOVE your Juicy video, Kath! You looked SO professional and smart!!! 😀

love the tea bottle cap quote! how true.
awesome run 😉
Sara says
The HLS was great. You are simply glowing at lunch — must’ve been from sweating out all those toxins during your invigorating run. Salad looks very tasty, too. And, yep – all the weird symbols are gone.
Leianna says
Fun to run with someone and have an amazing salad bar lunch! And I still need to try that Honest Tea because yours looks really good!
Angela (Oh She Glows) says
Yessss summit 2010! I hope it happens.
You don’t strike me as shy! I am quite shy too…but many people would never guess it. Blogs are such an easy way to seem super outgoing, eh?
gina g says

Brenda says
I still see the funny characters as well.
Deva@Vorilee says
I no longer see the funny characters -I hadn’t noticed until you asked!:-)
Angharad says
That salad looks uh-may-zing!! Sometimes that really is all you crave after a big old run – I know I do!
Heather says
Yup! Funky characters gone!!! Excellent.
Melissa says
I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the HLS. I wasn’t able to get tickets this year, but hope I can next year! The live stream was the next best thing. Thank you for thinking of those of us at home.
Those salads look yummy!

Those salads look sooooo delicious. And I wasn’t able to make HLS, but I did watch some of the streaming and you seemed great speaking in public! 🙂

Great job on the HLS. I watched some of it online. Very cool!
On an unrelated note, I made savory oatmeal with an egg on top tonight. Best thing ever!
Enjoy your evening.

britt says
that salad looks a-mazing! and way to go on the run. always helps to have a running partner that pushes you harder.
linda says
I also love to drink Honest Tea and appreciate how well the bottles are designed with the quote on the cap and differnt artwork on the “T”. I believe President Obama is a big fan of one of the berry flavors as it was reported as his choice of drink on the campaign trail.
Kath says
So glad the characters are gone for lots of you – but sorry about those who still see them 🙁 My guess is they will still be gone with time, as they did for lots of people.
Traci ,
I’m OK with public speaking (sans the hand shaking!) but I don’t like mingle events. They make me feel awkward and nervous!
Kath
Paige@ RunningAroundNormal says
Nice run! You guys did awesome 🙂 Your blog looks completely fine to me! I need to find me some of this Honest Tea. I keep hearing about it. Love the quote on the cap, too.
Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now says
That salad is making my mouth water. All the little salads sounds so good.
Steph says

Anna says
Hi Kath!
First of all, what a big zuc! I love the way Matt prepared it, it looks so yummy.
P.S. I still see the funky characters but it might just be my computer. They don’t hinder my reading so they don’t really bother me.
Joelle (The Pancake Girl) says
Congrats on shaving time off your pace!! That’s awesome!
Tay says
That’s weird about the Garmin thing! .3 miles is a pretty substantial difference! What a fabulous looking salad!! I really really really want an Earthfare out here!
Jen says
Doesn’t it feel great to be back home?? Those boats looked terrific.
PS – Still see weird characters 🙁
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
