Do you swear it’s not really Saturday? Because it really feels like one. I can’t wrap my brain around Friday!
I had plans to walk into town today for Body Pump and work and ride home with Matt later tonight after we went out. Before I left, I planned out my whole day based on our events: workout clothes, shower, bakery clothes, nicer clothes for Friday night events, different shoes. I packed it all in a backpack and was about to set out until I realized Matt’s car was in the driveway! That meant he had biked (for the first time since we opened). This meant I needed to bike too (otherwise I wouldn’t have a ride home tonight!)
Our house is a good 2-3 miles from all the cool stuff in town. It’s not a huge deal on a daily basis, BUT my gosh it would be so nice to be closer. The gym, downtown, the bakery and the neighborhood where we want to buy a house someday are all on the other side of down – and miles of super duper hills separate them. I don’t mind the commute when I’m just going to the bakery and back in shorts, but adding another stop or two complicates things. And it means I always have to wear biking tennis shoes.
Logistics are a big part of daily planning!
I ended up having to re-pack my bag with bike-friendly clothes and shoes, which meant I had to change my outfits to shorts and not dresses! Logistics totally revamped.
Blabbering on today! Body Pump left my upper body exhausted. I showered at the gym and headed to the bakery.
As I was leaving, the words “Faith Levine” caught my eye!! Look who is teaching a DANCE class at my gym and guess who signed up on the spot!! I’m excited to get back into dance (did you know I danced for 12 years!? I’m not very good, but the foundation is there).
I got to the bakery to find lots of granola in the making!
Raw gooey granola is quite delicious!
I also found our shipment of new shirts!! Unfortunately the women’s small (oh gosh, should I be saying the size!?) the size I got was waaaaay too big!!!! It was like a giant box, and definitely not a women’s cut.
But it sure fit Matt well!
We also got t-shirts, which fit perfectly!
After I bagged some bread, I ate lunch
A big tupperware of greens plus olive oil and honey, cucumber, green pepper and hummus.
And strawberries plus a hard-boiled egg I made this morning. I need to make them more – so easy!
Check out Matt’s killer tuna grilled cheese on Popeye!
Not two hours later my stomach was growling again. I’m so sorry bread, I did not mean to ignore you!!!
A slice of High Five! (which has 5 grams of protein + fiber per slice!) with some Cinnamon Vanilla Almond Butter made a perfect snack.
Back to Saturday Friday musings!
Nikki says
OMG – Your hubby wears a small? I can’t believe he is showcasing his size. 😉 JK!
Love the t-shirts you got in!
Have a great Friday .. and weekend!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I thought it was Saturday when I woke up this morning… until I realized it wasn’t and I still had to go to work! Boo!
Lauren @ Lawfully Wedded Wife says
HAHA I laughed out loud when I read the size of the shirt crossed out…so ridiculous that you should even have to think twice about writing that…but ANYWAYS…phew, that’s a lot of biking! I didn’t eat any carbs with my lunch today and the same thing happened to me, I’m running to go get some bread right now because I’m so hungry!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I love that shirt you’re wearing! are you guys going to sell them at the bakery or are they just for employees to wear?
Kristina says
I so wish I could find the cinnamon vanilla almond butter! My local GH has the vanilla but not the cinnamon vanilla…so sad 🙁 Although, the Toffee PB more than makes up for it…yummer.
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
I thought it was Saturday most of today as well! But at least it means the entire weekend is ahead. 😉
That’s crazy about the polos… the small looks huge! Glad Matt could get good use out of it though.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Don’t you hate it when you order something and are all excited about it…only to have it not fit! That’s gotta be the worst!
But I love the ‘It’s Nice to Be Kneaded’. Oh that is so cute and I dont even work there and I kinda want to own that shirt!
Logistics. Just be glad you’re not doing it with a baby. haha! That’s when life REALLY gets crazy.
Have a great weekend, Kath 🙂
Kelley says
HAHA I loved the crossed out size. Too funny. That granola looks delicious!
Sydney says
I know you can’t divulge the actual recipe for the Great Harvest bread, but can you at least list the ingredients of the Popeye Matt had his sandwich on? It looks delicious! Also, is that a Great Harvest bread that I might be able to get out here in Montana, or one of your own creations?
By the way, congratulations on the bakery! 🙂
KathEats says
It’s Spinach, Red Pepper + Asiago! Ask your local Montana GH to see if they will make it. They have access to the recipe
Donna says
I want one! It looks so good.
Meredith says
Haha, I totally thought it was Saturday when I woke up this morning! I’ve been ready to leave work for the past hour… I can’t wait for Friday/weekend festivities! I’m actually going near your neck of the woods (to Fry’s Spring Station) after work to celebrate a co-worker’s promotion 🙂 Oh… it seems that people are already wandering around the office with beer… don’t mind me as I go grab one! 😀
Have a great weekend!
P.S. Your size comment = too funny 😉
KathEats says
🙂 Enjoy the pizza!
Maryea @ Happy Healthy Mama says
Arent you glad you still have an extra weekend day?! Enjoy it! 🙂
Hillary says
I danced for 14 years and would LOVE to get back into it—I just have no clue where to go/what level I’d be considered at this point. Can’t wait to see how much fun you have!
cathy says
dance class sounds FUN! i am not that gifted but would love to take adult classes!
LOVE the tshirts. and staff shirts never seem to fit (ours at the running store where i work tend to be boxy, too).
thanks for “blabbering” with us – that was fun!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Love the drawing. Love the new shirts (minus the “small” polo). Love the game plan. I’m like you, I have to prep for my day before it even happens. If not, I won’t make it to the gym or get my to dos done. It’s always good to have a “go with the flow” attitude though!
Cait's Plate says
Hahah – love your paint drawing, that’s amazing.
I LOVE those 2nd two shirts – those are such perfect sayings.
Matt’s sandwich has me drooling – good thing pizza is on tap for dinner tonight because now I’m craving something CHEESY!
The Teenage Taste says
Isn’t it funny how shirt sizes vary so much from brand to brand?! It’s weird, in some brands I’m an extra small and in others I’m a medium!
Kelsey says
It’s not Saturday? Totally feels like it should be… And I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU TOLD YOUR SIZE! Hahaha, I’ve gotten a few small polos like that and they never fit! I wonder what box they’re using to size it off of… I would much rather wear the t-shirt however, they’re adorable!
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
The biking can take a little extra planning, depending on weather conditions and such, but it’s totally worth it. I imagine biking home with Matt after your evening out on the town will be particularly nice!
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
I love those shirts…. Definitely giveaway material 😉
Laura says
Hahaha! The crossed out size comment is fabulous. The t-shirts are super-cute too! 🙂
I am amazed by your ability to keep everything straight! I’d probably end up forgetting something on a daily basis if I had long, active days like that!
Wendy says
Polos never seem to fit me right, either, except the ones from the school district where I teach. They are women’s cut and made of nice tech material, like golf shirts.
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
I love the slogans on the t-shirts…so cute!
lani says
I loove the t-shirts! Look so cute on you. Totally gotta get one. Happy friday to you.
Lisa Fine says
Love the t shirts, and I hear you with the men’s sizes for the polo shirts. I have such a hard time at workplaces and when going to races on deciding what size to get, because men’s shirts are cut so big. Oh well.
The dance class sounds like a lot of fun…glad to hear you get to take it with your friend.
Christine says
The tuna on popeye looks so yummy!
Emily @ One Sweet Vegan says
I love the colors of those T-shirts.
Kori & Kaci says
We love your planning and all the reasoning behind it. 😉 We’re big planners too, but you do a better job of modifying if need be. Also your drawing was cute. Your eats, as always, look delicious, and the t-shirts are adorable! Are they just for GH employees or are the t-shirts for sale to the public? Have a great [Saturday] Friday!! 🙂
KathEats says
Just for employees…not. We’re going to do online shopping sometime soon
Lindsay says
I was going to ask the same question. I want to buy those t-shirts. They are so cute and I love the messages on them! 😀
rumfunandsun says
I just realized the reason I am overweight….I eat like a man! His sandwich looks yummy!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i wish my hubby liked wearing polo shirts. i like the way they look on dudes.
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
I thought today was Sat for abit… happens alot now that I am off school. I reallyreally love the “nice to be kneaded” shirt 🙂
Molly @ RDexposed says
UGH!! I hate “small” women sized shirts. Put a belt on and call it a dress.
Katherine says
Matt’s sandwich looks outrageous! YUM! And I love the “It’s Nice To Be Kneaded” shirt.
Kamaile says
Love the t-shirts, wish we had Great Harvest in Dallas, TX! Enjoy your Saturday night! 🙂
Maria @ Beautiful Busy Bee says
How do you keep those weird green rings from forming on your hard boiled eggs? That almond butter looks delicious!!! 🙂
Pat says
Plunge them into cold water as soon as they are done…
KathEats says
Yup! A cold water bath
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
This week is all screwed up for us too. We had a funeral yesterday for Tony’s uncle and since we were surrounded by family and no work was done at all, the week feels completely off. I hope you enjoy the rest of your “almost Saturday”!
Liz says
Any secrets for peeling hard boiled eggs? I like making them too but they are always so hard to peel it totally negates the fact that they are so easy to make! I would love some pointers!
Marina says
Try taking the egg out of hot boiling water with a spoon and holding it under cold running tap water for about 10 seconds.
KathEats says
Also a cold water bath! You want the eggs to suck away from the shells and hot –> cold is how you do it
Megan (Running Foodie) says
It’s also easier to peel hard boiled eggs when the eggs you use are a little “old.”
Christine (The Raw Project) says
Wow, crazy day and logistics! Very cool on the dance class and the granola looks great.
Ugh, sorry about the shirts! I can’t stand unstructured shirts on me, they look too baggy.
Katherina @ Zephyr Runs says
Men and women are cut differently and ought to receive different cuts of clothing 😛 Maybe tailor it for those fancy occasions you want to wear a polo instead of a t-shirt? It’d be so easy.
I feel ya on living close but not close enough.. I’m 2-3 miles away from everything awesome, too, except my obstacle is living in Orlando where in the Summer it’s 100* daily. Blech!
The Healthy Engineer says
Hahha better not start a commotion with size numbers and just start calling it size A and size B!
Sometimes things get blown way out of proportion.
Kristin says
Loved the drawing! Too funny 🙂 🙂 🙂
Susan (Oliepants) says
I’ve been a fish nutcase lately so Matt’s sandwich is making me drool!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
I love the “Slice of the Good Life” shirt. Very cute and catchy tag line!
Sorry you had to totally re-pack your bag! I wish I lived 2-3 miles form work. I have 17. So biking is never an option!
Baking 'n' Books says
Oh that must be frustrating. I find packing bags takes me forever – and I still forget stuff!
Couldn’t you have driven the car then though??
I hear ya on the location thing. It’s a catch-22.
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
Ahhh love the new shirts!! I always miss the fun on my off days. AKA baking granola!!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Oh those new t-shirts have great phrases on them!!!
jenna k says
haha! man kath, i’d have been so offended to read your shirt size. 😉 i adore your sense of humor!
love love love those tee shirts!!!
Shelby says
Hello Kath! I Hope your weekend is of to a great start. I know you are not giving away your cville granola recipe but whenever I try to make granola it never clumps together it just becomes hard and not well, clustery. Are there any tips you can give me? Thanks!!!!
KathEats says
So sorry Shelby, but I can’t disclose!
Karen says
Loved this post, esp. your drawing, the forbidden size reference, etc. So, so funny. Adorable t-shirt messages too. 2 – 3 miles seems quite close to me, but I live in a large city/suburb. As always though, everything is relative. Faith’s dance class sounds fun! Have a nice evening, Kath!
polly says
you are so cute!!! Love the shirts. I am a goof ball but I always wear my shirts like the pic of you with thumbs down. 😛 I will be ordering one of those cute kneaded T’s when you open your online orders! I always get size L but I swim in them, but I love swimmin’. 😛
Love ya, K and M!! Go bread! XO
Amelia says
Oh my dear, people need to get over the whole “size” issue. Who freakin’ cares? Who’s blog is this anyway??? Everyone’s body/ metabolism/ lifestyle / genetics/ etc. is different. Geesh! Ok, I digress.
The t-shirts are super cute. Yellow is a fantastic color on you! 🙂
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
Love the T’s! IT-shirts are much more fun to wear at work than a polo anyway. 😉
Angela (Oh She Glows) says
I want ‘it’s nice to be kneaded’ oh man, thats so me! Love it
Flourchild says
I wish my daughter had the employee shirts at Great Harvest…they wear whatever..hmmmm:) I did two classes of Body pump last week and I swear my arms are going to fall off!
lauri (redheadrecipes.com) says
We r moving closer into town, about 4.5 miles from where I work. I was hoping to be able to bike to work, but a good bit of the ride is on a suuuuper busy road 🙁
But we will be in biking distance to a few restauarnts/stores 😀
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
That is TOO funny that your day doesn’t feel like a Friday, because I was commenting on this fact all day. It must be something in the air. 😉
JessicaEn says
If the shirts are cotton they may very well shrink 🙂
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
Yes, hard boiled eggs are SO easy. Sometimes I forget, too!
Michaela says
I love me some carbs for lunch! Real ones, not only the ones I get from eating salad 😉
Is it just me wondering whether the t-shirt “It´s nice to be kneaded” is intended to be kinda, well, misleading? Not only because of the slogan itself, but also because of its position on the t-shirt 😉
Catherine@happinessafterheartache says
I need to make hard boiled eggs more often too – they are actually something I can cook! I always forget about them. I was not thinking it was Saturday….but that’s because I had a half-day today! YAY! School’s Out For Summer!
Lara @ TresLaLa says
You’ve never mentioned the Popeye bread before (that I recall) — I wondered if it was only local here… Had turkey, avocado & spinach on Popeye for lunch today! 🙂
Sarah and Will says
Love the bike trek adventure, and that you had a change of shoes in toe. I am a big fan of the bike basket myself. I bike to the hospital rain or snow, and know about the need for a wardrobe change. Can’t wait to hang out with you more!
Robyn @ Blueberries and Oats says
haha I love the picture you drew. ^_^
I am definitely going out and buying some Great Harvest Bread tomorrow at the farmer’s market!
faith says
:)!!!!!! (you know, about you signing up for class and all)
so sorry we didn’t connect this evening at the pavillion, any interest in a 10:30a yoga workshop in Batesville? I’ll drive…
KathEats says
🙂
Tomorrow? I have to work 🙁
Jackie @ That Deep Breath says
Matt’s sandwich looks sooooo good. I’m a sucker for melty cheese!
marpari says
I appreciate you so much!! I look forward to reading your blogs 2-3x daily. I am getting healthy, eating kale, doing bikram yoga, enjoying your success and thanking you for your role modeling for me.
KathEats says
Thank you!
Emily says
kath your face is on the front of the huffington post! (open sky ad)
Eileen says
I would absolutely love a dance class like that. Maybe I’ll drop a note in our gym’s suggestion box.
Elisabeth says
OMG! You said your size…oh no! JK 🙂 Anyhow, those t-shirts are super cute. I hate the way polos with logos like that are usually a generic unisex cut – way too boxy!
Angel7 says
I like the T-shirts!
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
Khushboo says
Those t-shirts are too cute!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
I had the opposite issue this morning – I woke up with a start and thought oh my God I’m late for work! So sweet when I realised it was Saturday 🙂
Hard boiled eggs are so convenient – I boil a batch on Sunday and they last me all week. Great for topping salads or just to have on their own.
Kati says
I just noticed that you go to acac… I live in richmond and my aunt works at the one there. LOVE that place!
Gloria says
I can’t believe how much time you have in a day you can devote to exercise!
Lindsay says
Yay for dance class! And to having to figure out crazy commutes! I live only 3 miles away from the main part of base here in Korea, and I thought biking it would be a breeze…
um. Not. so . much. More a breeze to fly into traffic and fear for my life! But hopefully I’ll master it soon! Until then I have a whole day of outfits in my back pack for the days activities!
Meagan says
Do you ever get sick of bread?
KathEats says
nope!
Hannah says
I never knew you had a flying bike, like E.T! 😉
Nan says
As to the polo shirts…remember that a real polo shirt is designed for playing polo, not for emphasizing the sexiness of its wearer or playing to current trends. Where are these shirts made? If they’re made in the USA, that would explain why the company still takes functional authenticity and classic, timeless style into account. Local and real are good concepts when it comes to clothes as well as food!
