We had a fun visit to EarthFare tonight for dinner to meet a few of my Duke readers who were in town for a concert. I met Becca back in January in Hillsborough, and Kath (another!) and Leslie joined her this time 🙂
EarthFare seems to be the request destination of out-of-towners!
Since I don’t eat dinner here often, I opted to choose from the Grill rather than the salad bar.
Since it was early, we weren’t that hungry and Matt and I decided to split a sandwich: Local Trout, grilled with roasted peppers, goat cheese and pesto aioli (on the side) on a whole wheat bun.
With NC sweet potato fries!! I had about 1/3 of these.
The oozing goat cheese was awesome!! And the fish sandwich was nice and light. Would definitely get this again!
Beer Nerd. I had a sip 😉
I got some veggies from the salad bar to go with my sandwich. Greens, squash, sprouts, carrots, green beans, a slice of pineapple, sunflower seeds, almonds and a dab of honey mustard.
And I chugged this all night
After we sent the concert-goers on their way, Kate, Nate, Kelsey, Matt + I headed to a wine bar for some drinks. We chose Dolcetto, a relatively new place in SouthPark.
I ordered a Chardonnay flight. LOVED 2 of the 3. The Miner and Landmark were awesome – oaked, buttery + bold. The Jordan was a bit crisp and boring.
Ladies –
Gents –
I hate to give bad reviews, but we had very sub-par service and debated going to a different bar for a second round. But by the time our check finally came, our buzz had worn off! Kanz and I had yet to watch last night’s Office, so we invited the crew over to watch.
I set out some snacks – which centered around these awesome Cinnamon Corn Chips by Food Should Taste Good. LOVED them!!
Plus Sarah’s biscotti and a few of my aunt’s magic cookies!!
I had a cookie and about 5 biscotti and 10 chips? Dinner was smallish and long ago – I was actually hungry!!
The gents opened a new beer: Brooklyn Brewery’s Local 2, a Belgium-style brown ale that Matt and I picked out at Total Wine last week upon spotting our favorite ingredients on the label. It did not disappoint!! I had 2 big gulps and more of my sparkling water!
What a fun spring evening!!
Tomorrow’s plan: farmer’s market, workout, lunch, Davidson!

That is the best looking trout sandwich I’ve seen! Lake fish doesn’t appear on the restaurant menus in my area very often. Actually, I’ve never seen it my local grocers either. What does trout taste like?
