‘Twas a perfect day to take a drive into the country….
..and down to the city…to pick up Meghann! So happy she is here to help me celebrate
I took along these snacks for the 3-hour round-trip ride, but only ended up eating the apple because I was too busy talking on the way back! [It was one of the best apples of my life!! Honeycrisp, I believe]
But thankfully we had a snack waiting for us upon our return – Matt Cracks!
Snagged a few to tide us until dinner
We made a quick turnaround to downtown – via BIKE! Using my old bike and Karen’s helmet. Glad Meghann was agreeable to put the pedal to the metal! We took a quick stroll down the Mall and ended up at our favorite casual dining spot: Mono Loco.
First up: A Spice-A-Rita! LOVE these!!!!!!!! Meghann did too. We shared one.
Matt had lots of fun playing with Baby Finn, who joined us for the evening with his Strong Mama and Dad.
Our service was very slow tonight, but we were gifted a free plate of chips (the FLOUR ones were amazing!)
As well as some shooters!! We think these were some kind of papaya tequilla mix.
I took a sip, but passed them on to Eric, who seemed more than happy to absorb them all
For dinner I branched from my usual Day At The Beach burrito bowl and got the Gibson, which was cod, truffled mushrooms and roasted tomatoes. Sadly I forgot to ask for the crema sauce on the side and it game swimming in thick, rich sauce. It was hard to pick out the good stuff. But I ate about half anyways, and it did taste good.
The night did not end there…
Oh my heavens…
Pumpkin Spice and everything nice!!
That would be pumpkin spice latte yogurt with a twist of cake batter, a coconut marshamallow, ginger snaps and a pumpkin! SO GOOD! I shared half with Matt, who was happy to lick up the leftovers – too much came out of the spigot! I’m only in it for the toppings anyways
Love these candy pumpkins!
But we all know who the real pumpkin of the night was!
Wish me luck – 10K in the AM!
The Peanut Butter Addict says

Those little pumpkins are so freakin cute. I have yet to eat one this season 🙁
Good luck at your 10K tomorrow Kath!
Meg says
Best of luck, Kath! 😀
Meghann and you are gorgeous ladies! Glad ya’ll enjoyed your day!! That froyo looks TO DIE FOR 😀
Sara says
Would it really be the end of the world for you to eat a cream sauce?
AMH says
my thoughts exactly.
Kori says
If the sauce is too rich, not because of calories or fat but simply taste, then she has the prerogative to not eat much of it. Why the heck would you spend time reading her blog only to comment in a negative manner. If this blog does not suit you, then move on and leave Kath alone. Go eat all of the cream sauce you want, but I’m not sure you’ll be running a 10K then, will you?
Becky says
I agree that people need to lay off her. She ate pizza, what, two days ago, and got flack for that because it was “unhealthy.” It seems like she just can’t win.
skinnyrunner says
i want that froyo!!! looks so good. best part of the meal hands down.
good luck running tomorrow!
Clare @ Fitting It All In says

Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat says
Ha, I’m an ice cream toppings girl too. The boyfriend always laughs when I get ice cream, because he knows he’ll be the one actually eating the ice cream part!
AMH says
Would it really be the end of the world for you to eat an apple AND a granola bar?
Amy says
Jeez, should we eat when we’re not hungry?
jessica says
If you read the post you would see Kath said she was too busy talking to eat the granola bar. What’s it to you anyway?
Kaci says
AMH,
I don’t see anywhere where Kath mentioned NOT being able to eat both nor do I see any mention of the world ending. Why don’t you go eat a cookie and leave Kath alone.
AMH says
why mention it at all? that’s my point. cookie eaten! thanks for the suggestion.
Maddie E says
OMG were you at Yogurtini? It looks a lot like it! And if you were, I can relate to how amazing that yogurt was. Had it in Kansas City last weekend. Oh my heaven. I’m envious.

Last night my husband and I stayed in Charlottesville on our way to DC (we’re moving there). We went down to the mall to have a nice walk and some dinner. As we were strolling I saw someone I recognized, but I couldn’t place her b/c I don’t know anyone in Charlottesville (in real life anyway). I did a double take, and it was YOU, with Matt, and another young woman (Meghann I’m guessing)!
I turned to my husband and said “I just the woman who writes a food blog I read” and he asked if we should follow you so we’d find a good place to eat :). Obviously we didn’t, and I’m glad you had such a delish dinner at Mono Loco. We ended up getting soup at Revolutionary Soup since the evening seemed to call for it.
Happy birthday weekend!
Kath says
Haha – how fun!! Rev Soup is delish too!

Hi, Kath! I’ve been reading your blog for a week now, and I’m enjoying it. Today I did a double-take, though – I thought I was still at Fitnessista’s blog (Meghann visit, Larabar-and-apple snack), haha. I guess great minds do think alike. 😉
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says

This probably isn’t the place for this question, but I’m not sure where to put it.
I have been reading your blog for awhile and really enjoy it.
Are there any blogs focusing on a healthy eating and lifestyle you could recommend that are authored by women who are mothers? I enjoy your blog and the blogs of your friends and thanks for all you do to promote healthy living.
