Oh dear.
2010 is not off to a very good start 🙁
Who was that monster from last night and what did she do with KERF!?
I woke up around 8, edited the blog (!!), and drifted in and out of snoozes until we met for breakfast at 9:30. I wasn’t sure if breakfast would make me feel better or worse, but I was sure craving fruit. [I would have killed for a Chocolate Amazing Meal green monster.]
I piled about a cup of greek yogurt with fresh fruit from the buffet along with some granola.
Sipped on some coffee and then rejected it in exchange for OJ
I rarely drink OJ (because I’d rather just eat an orange) but boy was this delicious.
After breakfast Justin proclaimed he wanted to go on a walk to get his blood flowing. I was imagining an hour-long adventure but turns out he only wanted it to be "7-12 minutes." LOL. We walked for about 25 minutes or so to the harbor and back. I feel much better! Exercise is always the best medicine.
Thankfully we have no agenda for the day so there is a movie planned, a simple sandwich lunch, hopefully a run with Katie (a blog reader who is also on the island) if I’m feeling better enough, and dinner tonight at the Club. Tomorrow we head back home!
I think one overlooked benefit to vacations is that they make you appreciate your normal life so much more. I can’t wait to get back to my house and routine after this 9-day trip.
Marissa says
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m not a big fan of school and all the stress it puts on me but I’m looking forward to getting back to a real schedule that requires me to be productive!
Frogs and Men@ Paris Food Blog says
i liked that monster! happy new year & enjoy your granola!
Kristen says
Happy New Year! Enjoy your last day. I love coming home after vacay!
Morgan @ Life After Bagels says
I always get home sick when I’m away from home for too long.
Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen says
I guess a good benefit of not feeling awesome is you’re craving fruit…right? 🙂 Hope you feel better, and have a great rest of the day on the island! It’s so nice to take a break from life, but sometimes it feels just as good to get back to routine, too 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Sorry the New Year didn’t start off on the right foot, but hang in there! Breakfast looks fabulous and sounds like a fun day ahead!
Ameena says
I totally agree…vacations always make you appreciate home. Have a great New Year’s Day!
Mama Pea says
I hope you don’t mind…Pea Daddy and I were having a little laugh this morning about your post last night & what this morning’s would say 🙂 I kind of had this one pegged. Take care today!!!
Kath says
Wish I could have joined you in a laugh!
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Orange juice always sounds good to me when I’m feeling “less than stellar,” aka hungover as hell.
Hope your day gets better! Happy 2010!
Kath says
Hungover as hell is correct!
Marisa (Loser for Life) says
Glad you feel better after your walk!
Sounds like you have a nice day planned!
skinnyrunner says
happy new years and hope 2010 starts better for you!
Amy says
Yes, i learned a long time ago that having a hangover is a terrible way to bring in the New Year. I hope you are feeling better soon 🙂
Becca says
I think you should refrain from blogging when drunk. We can wait til you sober up. Really, we can. I felt the same reading the “drogging” during the Summit in Boston. Healthy food blogs don’t have to be perfect, but I don’t have to read drunk reports—while you’re still drunk.
Frogs and Men@ Paris Food Blog says
oh for pete’s sake! there are worse (and less amusing) things one can do than write a tipsy blog post. i, for my part, enjoyed it. anyway, this is a food blog…it’s good to see people enjoying food & drink.
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
I thought your blog last night was cute. 🙂 It happens to the best of us. 🙂
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I would much prefer an orange to the juice too.
Sorry you are so grumpy. Hopefully the last relaxing day of vacation will help.
Chelsea says
Your post had me cracking up last night 🙂
Kelly says
I agree…vacations are fun but there is nothing like being at “home sweet home”
Sarah says
Sounds like a great vacation and send off to 2009 (last post). Happy 2010!
Cait (Cait's Plate) says
Aw, it’s okay. Sometimes it’s nice to have a day off of conscious eating! But I totally agree about vacations. I always get excited towards the end to go back to my normal routine!! 🙂
Save travels home!
Jenna says
What happened to kerf this morning kath?!
I totally agree with you on the whole vacation thing, it’s nice to get away but by the end of the vaca I am so ready to be back home to my routine!!
Stephanie says
Ahhh, one of the only nights I missed your evening post, and it sounds like a good one 😉
Jordan @ Salt Sweat Sugar says
I was grumpy last night, too. Must be a NYE thing. Hahhaa.
Penny says
So sorry you woke up not feeling well. You’ll be back to your regular self in no time.
Anne Marie@New Weigh of Life says
I hope your day is better today.
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
Drinking alcohol (or anything salty) makes me crave fruit, too! Probably because it’s so refreshing and loaded with potassium to help balance us again. I have a bit of a food hangover. Ugh, too much cheese! 🙁 I want: lighter foods + exercise ASAP!

Nicole says
Happy New Year, it’s funny, as much as I appreciate a long vacation I do miss my daily routine and at home conveniences.
Kerry says
I totally agree on vacations, they are awesome, but eventually I just want to be home.
By the way, I just got hooked on Gossip Girl, making my way through the first season. I know I am quite late to the party, but the show is fun!
Ellen says
Oh man! So you already deleted the drunk blog? Darn it. 🙂
Kath says
No i just corrected the typos! It wasn’t as bad as it sounds.
Haleigh says
It’s always nice to get back into a routine after a long vacation. Happy new year!

Hope you feel better. My OJ tasted really good, too!
Katy @ These Beautiful Feet says
Well, that breakfast should have you feeling better in no time. It sounds delicious!! I think greek yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit are for sure going on my grocery list. Sorry you haven’t been feeling great today. :-\ at least you have something of an appetite!

Your 2010 will be great!
Sounds like you might be a bit hungover. Get some rest and water that always seems to help me:)

Nothing like a nice, healthy breakfast to counter act a night of junk food and booze.
Laine says
I thought it was a fun cute post! This isn’t Sister Mary Katherine’s Food Blog for heaven’s sake.
Jenny says

Madelin @ What is for breakfast? says
Oh my gosh I hear you! I have just got home from a month long holiday in Hawaii and Sydney and I am so relieved to have my kitchen and bed bad and be able to make a normal, simple health meal. Plus see my cat ;).

Hope that the grumpiness subsided, and that your new year’s day was great!
