Good afternoon friends!! Our day is off to a good start. I had a great workout and we met up with lots of our friends for lunch.
Breakfast was eggs, toast with sunbutter and mango. Mazen said “no thank you” when I asked if he wanted eggs. Then I gave him a bite of mine, and he asked for more. So I made him a whole second set on the stove top and he turned up his nose at them! I don’t know what is up with him and eggs 🙂
We went to the gym where I got in a killer kettlebell workout in Chris’s class! We did tons of shoulder work today that wore me out.
After the gym, a group of my friends met at Great Harvest for lunch. [I cut about 2.5 inches off my hair yesterday!]
We have a weekly lunchtime play date to get the kids together and chat. In the warmer months, we meet at the park and bring a potluck picnic, but since it’s been so cold we have moved the play date inside. Our bakery, Great Harvest, has been a great winter solution because the kids love the play area and the moms love the lunchy menu.
We moms order sandwiches or salads and we set the kiddos up with an indoor picnic. We asked the owners if this was OK first and they said yes ; )
Mini Babybel sent me a selection of their cheeses to share with Mazen’s toddler friends, and I knew they would make the perfect contribution to our playdate picnic. Cheese and bread are two foods that every toddler in our group loves!
We purchased some rolls and hummus from Great Harvest and brought carrots, apples, raisins and Mini Babybel cheese.
It’s very convenient that you don’t need a sharp knife to enjoy this cheese.
The kiddos had a feast!
The cheese was a big hit, and they loved unwrapping it.
Apple cheers!
Say cheese!

The kids are so cute!!! Did you cut your own hair? If so good job!! Love kettlebells, one of my fav classes.
KathEats says
Haha no! I could never get it straight.
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
We are big babybel cheese fans in this house. So easy. Love that they had their own little cheese board 🙂
Kaila@HealthyHelperBlog says
I love the idea of an indoor picnic!! Looks like the kids really enjoyed themselves!
Linda @ the Fitty says
I think there is a french onion one from baybel that I liked the best! It’s orange–taste it and tell me what you think.

She’s anti-onion lol
Taca @ A Side Of Dessert says

This may be THE CUTEST post I have ever seen! Babybels are so perfect for the little ones- but I love ’em too!
Brenda says
I have seen the mini babybel in stores but I have never bought it. What does it taste like? Are there different flavor? I think it’s wonderful that the Great Harvest owners allow the moms to meet up at their business 🙂
Emily says
I love babybel style cheese. We had so much of that kind of cheese in Europe. It was relish.
MaryEllen says
I love the banana bread Larabars!!

It never ceases to amaze me how finicky kids are and how often then change their minds about what they eat! My son used to LOVE eggs but he’s been off them for about a year!! Which means his sister is too because she does anything he does! Just the other day they found an old picnic basket on a shelf and I had to explain to them what it was…I was actually thinking of having an indoor picnic with them and they were SO excited!
Kate says
Love this post, too cute!! And a great idea!
Kina says
Is the baby bel cheese organic?
KathEats says
Most are not – I don’t believe they have an organic line
Evelyn says
Most what are not? Most cheeses?
KathEats says
Most of the Babybel cheese are not
Evelyn says
So does that mean some are organic? Thanks!
Claire says
Can you let us know which ones are organic? I love Babybel and would love an organic option!
Wendy says
Actually, none of the baby bel is organic.
KathEats says
Yeah I didn’t think so. Unless there was a line I wasn’t aware of
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
hahah such a cute idea to get together with everyone indoors! I know I go stir crazy during the winter, so I can only imagine how rough it is with a toddler– hanging out with friends probably helps!
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
Yummy breakfast… Where the heck did you find mango this time of the year?!
KathEats says
There are a ton at WF!
Simple Green Moms says
what a fun play date! such great healthy snack/lunch ideas for the kiddos!
Hannah @ eat, drink and save money says
Your marketing worked on me. As soon as I saw the first line that this was sponsored by Babybel, I had to go get one from my fridge to eat while I read. LOL. I love those cheeses. My kiddo is funny about food too and sometimes he refuses cheese which is okay by me since I love to eat his leftover Babybels. I think I buy them more for me than for him!
KathEats says
Haha delicous! I looooooove cheese!
Jeanie says
Love that cheese!
Kori says
Such a cute & fun idea to have an “indoor picnic!” Your hair looks very pretty & fresh! 🙂
Connie says
I love indoor picnics for toddlers, because you can just throw a blanket down on your floor, let them make a mess, then scoop the blanket up and toss it into the washing machine! So much easier than sweeping and washing your floor. 🙂
This might be a weird question but does the Great Harvest head office care if you advertize another product in one of their franchises? Are they somehow affiliated with the makers of Babybel cheese?
KathEats says
That’s exactly what I did with our blanket 🙂
We have all the freedom of a independent small business and they aren’t affiliated with Babybel. They might stop us from selling other breads or doing something totally against the grain but we could sell Babybel if we chose to.
Connie says
That’s really cool. (Against the grain… ha ha!)
KathEats says
Ha!
Jaime says
When I was a kid we would take the wax from the babybels and form them into fake nails and stick them on our fingers and pretend we had our nails done! Haha.
KathEats says
Ha!
Molly Laufer says
OMG ME TOO! I totally forgot about that until I read this comment. Ahh 90’s kids when we did not have tech toys to play with 🙂
Janet says
I like Baybels but for some reason they make my mouth itch. I can not figure out what it is that is in them that causes that. They do taste so good and are easy to transport though.
Jess says
When you have friends for lunch at the bakery, do they buy their food or do you treat them? Sorry to pose an awkward question, but I’m curious!
KathEats says
Most of the time they insist on buying. If I’m having a one on one sometimes I will treat.
Clara says
Apple cheers 😀 too cute!!!!
