If there was an Olympic event for mind racing, I think mine would have medaled last night. I was up around 2:30 just thinking and thinking and thinking of all kinds of exciting things. It’s not really conscious – I just can’t make it stop! Mostly positive vibes – I’m not feeling that anxious about what’s to come. Just excited! Like the night before a huge fun event.
I finally realized I was pretty hungry, so I went in the kitchen for some toast with almond butter. This “stick to your ribs” snack seems to quickly take away my hunger in the night.
After an hour of reading, I was drowsy again and luckily fell back asleep, but that didn’t keep me from waking up excited again at 6:30. Wish I could have slept longer!
Overnight oats were a’waitin’
Basic recipe plus half a banana and some frozen berries that thawed overnight. Cville Cluster crumbs and sunbutter topped it off.
To be honest, this just didn’t taste that great to me today. I think I’m just going to be a ball of emotions with a nervous stomach until things get going!
Headed for a hot shower next!

Have to tell you, that clock looks a little bit like a clock that could be in a delivery room so I got excited ….but the cute plate in the corner told me otherwise! Have a good day!
KathEats says
I thought it might – sorry!! Haha I can’t escape the teasing and I don’t mean to! I had to throw out about 3 other titles today too : )
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
hahaha I thought the same thing! I feel like we’re all just waiting anxiously with you 😛

You are too cute! I am so excited for you! This is definitely an emotional roller coaster time! I remember every thought I had while awaiting these last few days before they made their big arrivals! It’s all part of the experience and adds to the excitement! Have a great day Kath!
Veronica says
You’re totally in early labor aren’t you? This post just had an air of “expectancy” to it. 😉
And the hot shower comment at the end…. *eyebrow raise*
KathEats says
Haha I wish. Hot shower didn’t cause any contractions… Maybe a little oxytocin..
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Have a relaxing day today!!! Enjoy the low humidity!
Kristen says
Don’t worry about the title-teasing- even though it kinda drives me crazy (in a good way), it makes the reading experience so much more exciting. It’s been like watching a movie where you are sitting on the edge of your seat before something exciting happens… But you get to keep us there for weeks!
Sounds like you are out of your small funk though. Yay!
Allyson says
I hope today is the day for you! I’ve had two friends give birth this week and now they are the happiest people in the world 🙂 That will be you very soon!!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
I’d be the same way, Kath. I always have a hard time sleeping the night before a big event or just excitement ahead. Hopefully you’ll be able to squeeze in a little nap today! Your overnight oats looks DELICIOUS!
Steph says
Try to get some SLEEP! Easier said than done, I know. Still – labor is a marathon, and going in exhausted is a good way to end up agreeing to an epidural so that you can “rest.” This is just as important a part of getting ready for labor as pelvic rolls and not slumping on the couch. (Never mind the fact that you’ll have plenty of time to be up all night when the little guy comes!) Have a great day!
Lindsey @ Pas de Deux says
Wow, Kath, I can’t even imagine how anxious and excited you must be feeling, just waiting to meet your little man! Hope you have fun things on the agenda to distract yourself today 🙂
Becca says
Morning,
Just a questions to ask…but you totally don’t have to answer it if you are too busy or in labor ;)…but what are your favorite nut butters and how do you decide to which to use when? I noticed you used almond butter last night yet sunflower this AM. Do you just pick a butter each morning based on cravings or are certain butters preferred for certain ‘bases’).
Thanks a bunch, Momma-to-be!
KathEats says
too hard to pick a fav! Sunflower is at top of the list for sure, followed by Naturally Nutty, Wild squirrel, Barney Butter, regular peanut butter, maranatha almond butter. I like to rotate them all depending on craving (sweet vs salty), and prefer the drippier kinds.
coco says
i woke up last night at 2:30 AM too! I snacked on almond milk with rice cakes… need to get almond butter for these night wake ups!
So excited for you!
Ginger says
Just out of curiosity, are there more health benefits to almond or sunflower butter vs. peanut?
KathEats says
I think they are all pretty comparable
denise says
Have you tried the Andrew Johnson DEEP SLEEP app? I wish I had it whilst pregnant 19 years ago, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything now. Everyone I tell about it becomes grateful pretty quickly.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Haha I think I’d get a medal in that too, I haven’t slept the last two nights because my mind is all over the place!
Rachel says
It totally thought that was a hospital clock lol!

Hi Kath! A couple years ago, one of my good friends suggested that I follow you because of your yummy recipes. Well, life got busy and I couldn’t keep up with your blog but now I’m back and now you’re about to have a child! So exciting! Anyway, my husband and I are TTC and reading your blog has really been great. As I’m typing, I’m cramping on my right side and I keep asking myself, could I be pregnant? But darn it, I have to wait another week before I can test! I can’t tell you how many sites I’ve looked at questioning my symptoms. “Am I ovulating, am I pregnant, maybe, yes, no, what?!?!” Your blog is by far the best I’ve seen and so REAL. Thank you SO much and thank you for taking the time to read my jibber jabber. =)
KathEats says
Good luck!!
Katryn says
It took me a few times of eating overnight oats to ‘acquire the taste’ but now I am a total convert…they are such a great breakfast to bring to work and totally versatile. You opened a whole new world to me! 😉
Leslie says
That spoon is so pretty that I just had to comment and tell you. 🙂

Andrea (@FrSeed2Stomach) says
That bowl of oats looks deeeelish! Bummer that it didn’t hit the spot! BTW, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed a huge spike in traffic the past couple weeks, but I can’t help checking in a few times a day (more than usual) to see if there’s any baby news. I can only imagine that the rest of us are, too! Also, I have a feeling that as soon as those contractions start, your mind suddenly focus on one thing and one thing only… not that I would know!
Amanda @flecksofgreen says
Well I’m not surprised your mind is racing–there has got to be so much going on in there! It’s so great that they are positive thoughts too…it’s important to be positive 🙂
Annette @FitnessPerks says
Sunbutter!!! MUST get some soon!
Jenica says
I was up late thinking too last night. But I think you have a whole lot of reason to be excitedly awake!

This is exactly how I go about my night when I cannot sleep! What book are you reading?

Hi Kath,
My little one (6 months old now) was 2 weeks late and I remember like it was yesterday all the nervous excited anticipating butterflies I had- fluttering away in my head and heart as I imagined what it would be like to meet my little girl. The waiting is hard- really hard. But the minute he arrives you won’t be able to imagine the world without him.
Lauren says
Oh heavens I need to get myself more C-Vhille Cluster soon! You always make me crave it. 🙂
Cait's Plate says
I’m so so excited for you Kath! You’re going to be such a good Mom and I love that you’re so excited!
