First grade or fifteen? Happy back to school!
First grade seems so much older than kindergarten to me. And it was so nice not having to worry about the bus!
Let’s look back on all the first days!
Back To School Shopping
I took Mazen back to school shopping on Sunday, and we got everything on the list plus a new backpack.
Last Bits Of Summer
Before our beach trip, Mazen and I biked down to Fridays After Five to meet up with some friends.
He’s so easy and fun one-on-one like that!
We got pizza for him and Tilman’s salad for me, and he played with friends while I had a beer and talked to Sarah!
Big Brother Is Entertaining
It was fun to have him home to help play with Birch these last few days too!
Mazen and I taught B how to eat pancakes!
I also taught him how to eat little peas and cantaloupe. He’s not sure about either one. Gobbled down the sweet potatoes and bread though!
Oatmeal with Cottage Cheese + Sunflower Butter
I’ve been craving oatmeal, and I picked up some cottage cheese to cook in. Doesn’t this seem like a blast from the past?! Sunflower butter still going strong.
Gratisfied Empower Bars
Another blast from the past – Kath Eats All The Bars! My friend Sara created these Empower Bars and has brought them mainstream after her clients loved them. They are AWESOME. Almost like a brownie meets a quick bread in texture. Best of all, they are not too sweet with only 2 grams of sugar per bar, so they make a great snack to keep blood sugar steady. They’re also grain free and paleo/keto friendly. Obviously made with real food. Buy them online here.

I always love comparing first day of school pics. I’m dropping my oldest off at college tomorrow. I’m dying inside! He’s super excited and I’m excited for him but it’s also scary for me. Plus, it makes me feel old!

Oh man – college is going to crush me so much more than kindergarten!

Mazen is growing up fast! Here my son starts first grade in 2 weeks. My son just turned 6!
I enjoy the school year routine. But I’m hoping the summer weather continues… Haha!

Mazen looks so handsome! Hope he has a great year! School started for us on August 14 in Barboursville, VA

Wow…he looks so grown up! I loved looking at all the past first day pictures. So cute! 🙂 That one picture of him sitting and looking serious makes him look seven (teen).
They do grow up so fast. Mine are 17, 15, and 14. It feels like I just blinked and they grew up. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy this time. 🙂

My kids go back on Tuesday – Young Fives and First Grade. New schools for both of them, and they are brand new buildings that no one except staff has been allowed into yet. The first day will be chaos, I’m sure! I’m also starting a new part time job the same day at my daughter’s school. So many changes, and it will be so weird having both kids in school all day. Part of me is ready, but part of me isn’t!

Lots all at once! I’m sure you will all do great 🙂

Thanks!

My baby is the same age as Birch so no school for us this year, but the kids have all been back in school here in Nashville since the second week of August! It’s waaay too early, if you ask me!

Mazen looks so much older now than his Kindergarten pic! He’s really grown up a lot this year.
One of my kids started Monday this week and 2 more start next Monday. It’s going to be quiet around here next week!

I always think he is your mini-me but he really looks like Matt in the latest photos! So fun to see him grow into a little man in that time lapse 🙂 Time sure flies..

My first grader won’t go til Sept. 3 🙂 Hoping there’s less anxiety and it’s more smooth this year. So far, he hasn’t seemed as nervous or worried. Yay! He’s excited to find out which friends will be in his class, etc. 🙂 Mazen looks SO grown up!!!! They grow TOO fast!

K –> 1st was a much easier transition! He was a little nervous and I told him all the things that would be the same as last year.

As a former first grade teacher, 1st is my favorite grade!
My now 7th and 10th graders went back August 12th. We will go until the end of May, so it’s a long year…

Mazen for sure had a growth spurt over the summer! I remember that 2yr old pic well!
