I need to go memorize a semester’s worth of basic nutrition before 9:30. And drive to Winthrop!
I got good sleep last night, although I could’ve used more than 8 hours to catch up. Maybe I can make that up tonight?
I wanted the BEST bowl of oatmeal possible this morning and I started by adding all the best ingredients:
- 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup 1%, 1/3 cup plus a splash H20
- 2 tbsp grainberries
- 2 tbsp raisins
- 1/2 med banana
- Salt + vanilla
- A Jimmi Granola Plank
- Spoonful PB
Crunchy, chewy, creamy, sweet + salty all at once! I think it’s hitting all that variety that makes these bowls so satisfying.
With hot tea and milk, and a vitamin.
I’m dining at EarthFare for lunch today! When I signed up for the late-night Micro lab, I made a deal with myself that I could have lunch out on Thursdays since I wouldn’t have time to make a lunch. I’m sure I’ll be going to EarthFare more than the dining hall though 🙂
The plan is to workout at 4pm when I get home, then I have a fun dinner planned!
xoxo guys!

What are grainberries?
Rose says
Love how you called it a Jimmi plank 🙂
Yes – I am curious about grainberries too.
And how long do grainberries/ wheat berries last? I didn’t know last time I cooked them and probably threw them out too early.

Once again, a GREAT lookin’ and sounding oatmeal. Your days sound so incredibly organized. All of the luxuries you enjoy before having kids…

Good to hear your day is off to a better start! That bowl looks delicioius–you might be urging me into eating more oatmeal come fall weather.
Hope you don’t mind me answering, but grain berries are the spelt/wheat/rye berries that Kath cooks to keep on hand. They’re truly whole grain!

Good luck on your exam and enjoy the Earth Fare lunch. I miss that place.

If I ever make it to Charlotte, we are going to EarthFare!
Christie says
I think it is great you decided to be able to go to Earthfar for lunch.. I do the same thing on certain school days because sometimes it is so stressful trying to pack food for 9am-9pm and since there is a whole gfoods right down the road from my school I allow myself lunch/dinner there 1x a week!

You are so right about those oats– thanks to you I’ve found that adding just a shake of salt does make a huge difference. Hope the best oats were just the start of a great day.

Re: Grainberries,
Kate is right! I’ve made so many kinds now (wheat, spelt, rye) that I forget which kind they are. So the husband called them “grainberries” one morning since he didn’t know what was in the fridge and it seemed like a useful name since they all pretty much taste the same.
Caroline ,
You can buy them at the Honest Foods website, and they have free shipping. (www.honest-foods.com) I think Whole Foods sells them in select stores too.
Rose ,
All the grainberries last at least a week. I’ve never had them go bad.
Tina,
Fo’ shizzle!
