I have a little over a month until I turn 34. My 30s are nearly halfway over!
A year ago I’m not sure I could have pictured where I’d be today. When I imagined turning 34, the word divorce wasn’t something I would have ever predicted. But I don’t look at it with a negative connotation either. Life is always full of twists and turns, and instead of viewing the end of a relationship as returning to the start, or a U-turn, I see it more as a fork in the road.
When I think about the future, I have to think about what decisions will be best for me and for Mazen. The time we spend together, the trips we take, the friends we make, the activities we do. I have to ask: “What is most important to me?”
Head over to Haven’s blog to see the bucket list I created for the second half of my thirties!

I really liked this post. The list was well thought out and seemed achievable. I wish I had taken more time away from my children when they were young. I can’t think of a time in 20 some years that I was ever apart from them except one night for a surgery. They would have benefited.

I created a list called 34 Things in My 34th Year. It was so much fun to try and pack in different types of activities – things I had never tried, things I did when I was a kid, etc. I need to create a new list for my 42nd year. Happy (early) birthday!

Hi Kath–Off topic random question for you…..recently I have noticed the Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate popping up on several healthy living blogs, what’s your take?
KathEats says
I really don’t know much about it, but this probably goes into the category of “not harmful but not necessary for good health” for me.

Hi!
I just looked back at the Facebook note I created way back then. It
brought back so many awesome memories! A few favorites:
Ziplining
Swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove
Going to a new Farmer’s Market with friends, each with $10 in hand. We had
a “Make the best lunch with $10” contest when we were done.
Went to a Jazz Stroll at a local garden – you pack a picnic and listen to
music all night.
Urban Dare Road Race with friends
Went to the arcade to play childhood favorites like Skee-ball and
Whack-a-Mole
It was really, really fun. I’m going to create a 2017 list and it is going
to be glorious!
Have fun!
Laurie

I have no kids and am twice your age, but l feel that all rlationships can benefit from some time apart. My hisband and l take separate trips and trips together. This allows each of us to do things/visit places that we enjoy and the other not-so-much. You have some lovely travel goals and l hope you can make them happen.
Your other goals seem well thought out as well. I am particularly glad to hear you are addressing your financial future. Because we did this when we wer about your age, we are now enjoying our retirement without ubdue stress about money.
I love that you and Matt are able to get along especially about Mazen’s upbringing.
I am so on board with your planning so that fresh healthy meals happen. This is an area that l need to get better at – and the reason l first started reading your blog. I love that hou address your goals/resolutions at your birthday rather rhan at New Year’s.

Kath i love having you for a friend. I know we have never me but i do consider a friend.
You know i am a Christian and leave most of my life in God’s hands and i don’t think everything is black and white, and I am no judge when relationships end. I have lots of friends who are divorced and unless you are THE person in that situation, you never know what really is happening and what is best. I love you to pieces and i am proud of you for loving Mazen so well and taking care of yourself and for keeping what appears to be a good friendship with matt. I think mazen will someday thank you for being friends with his daddy, as I know there is probably a lot of love there, even if as long time friends and parents together. You are a young one for sure! LOTS of life left to live and fill and enjoy and nurture and share. I am a big believer in everything happens for a reason every person in our world, even for a season, can teach us something. So I just want you to know you are loved from Indiana and keep being the most loving momma and friend to Matt and daughter and sister and aunt!! and blogger and many other wonderful things. You are a talented fabulous girl.
XOXO

Two years ago I had the opportunity to travel to Paris for four days by myself and it was by far the best travel experience I’ve ever had. Consider traveling somewhere on your own and then meeting up with someone if you’d like. You learn so much about yourself and get some quality me-time in the process.

I just love this. Your outlook on life is amazing. When I was going through a divorce, the best advice I received was to keep moving forward. I apply that now to every area of my life. I am a long time reader and you continue to motivate and inspire me. Thank you for doing what you do.
