Me via G-chat: "Going to make breakfast now…..we have sun!!”
Mom: “Oh good. You will like it! We got ours back two days ago.”
Like it, I do!
Big bowl of whipped banana oatmeal with cottage cheese, cinnamon and vanilla topped with almond butter, coconut and chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Quite the happy breakfast today!
I made a half cup of oats instead of 1/3 today because I was feeling extra hungry. Loved every bite!
Served with hot tea. Why is it that rain goes with warmth and sun goes with cold? Can’t wait until everyday is sunny + warm.

Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
yay for the sunshine!! it’s been sunny here all week, and i’m just loving it. i would be happy if it never went away. 🙂 isn’t it crazy how much of a difference 1/2 cup of oats vs 1/3 cup of oats makes? i do the same thing when i’m feeling extra hungry and it always seems like there’s SO much more oats that i would expect.

Sun makes everyday better and brighter (literally!).

Yay for the sunshine! I do love me some rain but it’s definitely nice after a few days for the sun to pop back and say hello. 🙂

I wish it was sunny in the UK. It’s been raining pretty much every day for the last 3 weeks. I’m starting to think summer is never going to happen here! Enjoy the sun 🙂

When you make 1/3 cup oats, how much liquid do you add? I’ve always just done what the box says–1/2 cup oats and 1 cup water/milk.
KathEats says
2/3 water, 1/3 milk for soupier, equal parts for thicker

I know – it’s the same here. It finally stopped raining but it is chilllly. I’ll take it for now though…I’m sure I’ll be wishing for these days in the dead heat of summer!

People always think living in LA you take sunshine n warmth for granted. I’m here to affirm it never ever gets old.

Looks like a celebatory breakfast! Yeah for sun…we had a bit of both yesterday…looks like the sun is trying to sneak past the clouds as I write but the air still has a bit of a nip in it today. It could still be a coat day.

How does your rain chain hold up during heavy rain storms? Thinking about adding one to my house and am curious how it handles heavy rain storms versus traditional gutter down spouts. Thanks, long time reader first time commenter

So far, so good

Love the happy choc covered sunflower seeds! The reason that rain goes with warmth and sun goes with cold is because the cloud cover actually holds the warmth in kind of like a blanket, and a clear sky allows it to escape! Its still raining in the northeast, but that’s ok for me today because I need to stay in and study! Looks like more sun’s coming to us tomorrow 🙂

When I first saw your post, I immediately began singing “A Whole New World” from Disney’s Aladdin! I also had a question about using a rice cooker for oats; what are the advantages to making them this way? Is it faster or less time consuming? Thank you and enjoy your sunny day!
KathEats says
It just means there’s less hands on in the morning. And it’s easy to take out one portion and leave another portion for a sleeping partner. But the clean up and prep time are about the same.
Amanda @flecksofgreen says
Oh, okay. Thank you–I just might have to get one!
