We spent the night in the Hotel Viking here in Newport. Historic, classic, really comfortable. And we got a good deal on the rate (sharing a room helps too ; ) ) It’s more cozy!
It’s also off of KAY street – my initials!! I felt very welcome.
We all slept in this morning and enjoyed talking from our beds for a while before we decided to check out the hotel’s fitness center rather than our group power walk because it’s raining (hard). It was really nice! One of the nicest I’ve been in in a while. Larbs, Matt A. and I did a mixture of ellipticalling, treadmilling and weight lifting while my Matt went out looking for coffee.
I asked Larbs if she’d pack me an indoor workout outfit since I only brought running pants. When I put it on I realized it was all MY clothes!! My 2001 senior high school grad shirt and a pair of shorts marked with my Davidson laundry #1203 to prove they were mine. That sneak!
A few Frog Hollow peaches (which I had forgotten about!) tided me over to breakfast
Matt went out searching for some light breakfast treats to bring back for us. The group voted to put our effort into a nicer lunch rather than a big breakfast and light lunch. I suppose lunch is a more fun meal.
Matt came back with coffee
And a dessert-y peach muffin. I wasn’t in the mood for sweets, so I just had a taste
And plan to chow down on one of my packed bars for breakfast instead.
We’re going to tour one of the Newport Mansions and then will seek out that lunch!

Haha, I apparently, left my sister’s place with a workout shirt and realized it when I did my laundry from our trip. I have yet to tell her about it. OOPPPS! Have a great day with your family! I am guessing that is a given though!
Stacy @ Every Little Thing says
I prefer big lunches too, rather than breakfast. I am not a huge breakfast person but I make myself eat it for the sake of my metabolism. Have you ever had those organic Bumblebee Bars? I just bought one and am excited to try it!
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
I love working out in the morning! 🙂
Have a great day! 🙂
Vanessa says
That’s funny about your workout clothes! I love Newport!! It’s so pretty with all of the mansions. I never took a tour of one, I hear they are amazing. I went to Newport once in the spring/summertime and went sailing! Enjoy the day!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
Hehehe that is funny about the clothes. One reason I always wanted a sister!
Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) says
Enjoy your time away!
Know what’s ironic…we are on a trip right now and had about 20 hours worth of airplane rides to do with my not quite 4 yr old…and I brought those EXACT SAME BARS with me. Fruitions, Laras, and Vega. Small world! The strawberry fruitions are some of her faves. She’s a little snackbar connoisseur 🙂
Simply Life says
Sounds like a fun morning!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I always carry bars with me on vacation. We rarely ever go out to breakfast but love to have a big lunch, so coupled with a piece of fruit they’re the perfect thing! Hope you have a wonderful day!

My initials are ELM, so I LOVE it when I find Elm Streets… Which actually happens often!
Gabriella @ Embracement says
The Newport Mansions are so nice! Especially around this time of year they’re all decorated for the Holidays, enjoy it 🙂
Lindsay McAlester says
My sister is away at college and left a lot of clothes at my mom’s house. So, I snuck over there one day and stole a few items. Hehehe! I am a blabber mouth and told her, but still funny!
Natalia - a side of simple says
The Viking is classic! Great choice 🙂 Can’t wait to see which mansion you hit up. Hope it’s decked out for Christmas or else I’m going to feel like a fool for talking it up! Happy lunching!
Amy at TheSceneFromMe says
The outside of that hotel is decorated beautifully! Enjoy your day~
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
Haha I don’t have a younger sister so I don’t know what it’s like to have my clothes in someone else’s possession but I’ve witnessed many fights between my friends and their sisters. So entertaining to me.
holly @ couchpotatoathlete says
My sisters have lots of my old clothes too — it is strange sometimes to see them wear my shirts — they look so much better on someone else 🙁
I would definitely go with the PB cookie larabar…
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
hahaha how funny all the clothes brought for you were yours!!
Aimee says
Looks like such a gorgeous place to visit! And I love your workout outfit! 😉 What fun!

Mmmmm peachy muffin looks fabulous!!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Normally I much prefer breakfast, but I like to do the smaller breakfast + bigger lunch when on vacation too. Breakfast options are so limited when eating out!
Michelle (The Runner's Plate) says
Ha! Ha! The good, old high school senior t-shirts with everyone’s name on!
Cathy B. @ Bright Bakes says
can’t wait to see where you land for lunch!

ooh that hotel looks like fun!
That’s awesome that your sister had your clothes already. Love it! Such a sister thing to do.
Camille says
Hahaha, gotta love sisters stealing your clothes.
My sister called me last week and told me that she saw my picture on Facebook and she really liked my shoes. When I referred back to the picture, I saw that I was wearing the shoes I had stolen from her before moving cross country. Muahaha! Now my goal is to hide them well enough that she can’t find them when she comes to visit me next week 🙂
Stephanie @ The Travelling Tastebuds says
Newport looks really beautiful 🙂 I’d love to visit the New England region of the US one day!!!

Ahhh you lucky Davidson kiddo! I was so jealous of my boyfriend who went there that he never had to do laundry at college. Such a nice perk!
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
i cannot wait to see photos of the mansion! what a fun trip!
Amanda says
Sharing clothes – or “borrowing” what used to be yours – is what sisters are for!
Jess @ atasteofconfidence says
Haha so funny that they are all your clothes!
Melissa @ I Never Imagined says
How funny that she has your clothes! I can sympathize with her… I take Toby’s clothes all the time, but he never takes mine (for obvious reasons)
Sarah says
I have some friends who graduated from Davidson and the laundry thing always cracked me up. I wanted someone to do my laundry in college!

Oh, I miss larabars! I wish I could have that for breakfast when I’m at hotel in two days’ time…
