Mazen and I took a trip up to Towson to visit my grandmother for a few days. Mom and Larbs met us there, so it was a fun four-generational reunion!
On Thursday we went over for cocktail hour and sipped wine in Downton Abbey glasses while discussing Edith and Mary’s latest decisions.
Mazen LOVES Gram’s dollhouse and the new Peppa Pig figurines my mom got for him : )
We went down to the dining room for dinner. I had a salad to start…Greek style with lots of pickled veggies, olives and a Greek dressing.
Followed by an enchilada, fried chicken, sides and bread. Loved that stuffed tomato!
And for dessert…you don’t want to know!!
Friday morning we ventured out in nearly 0 degree weather to get coffee and oatmeal from Starbucks.
We visited with Gram all morning. She passed on a few of her drawing skills to M!
For lunch we picked up some prepared salads and salmon at Fresh Market and served them over greens.
While Mazen and Mom had quiet time in the hotel, Larbs and I went shopping at The Best Mall Ever. I found a nice pair of black boots on sale and loved browsing Pottery Barn and Crate + Barrel.
Dinner our second night was more salad bar – walnuts, blue cheese, spiced apples and olives.
And the buffet of the night featured pork with a rum sauce, fried flounder, mashed potatoes and zucchini.
With a huge snow storm on the way, we actually drove home after dinner and were so thankful to sleep in our own beds. The drive wasn’t that great so late at night, but it was much preferred to driving in the blizzard that arrived the next morning.
Snow adventures and a visit from Grammie tomorrow!

That dessert looks amazing…looks like a wonderful family get-together!

Your meals never fail to look amazing! And I’d LOVE to know what dessert was 😉
KathEats says
Two words: marshmallow sauce.
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola says
Glad you got to spend some time with your grandmother and still got home safely before the snow came. My grandmother lives in your area and I missed out my visit with her because of the weather. Maybe some other weekend!
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
I agree- I would much rather drive at night than in a snow storm!

Mazen is SO handsome!

Thank you : )
Mabel @ Ma Bella Vita says
All the food looks delicious. Looks like you had the perfect time with family. And your baby is adorable! 🙂

Thanks!
Linda @ the Fitty says
Do you find that you do better with a tight schedule or a loose one where you’re inside the house free to do anything you chose all day?
KathEats says
What do you mean by “do better?” How productive I am? I absolutely hate feeling stressed/pressured by a schedule, so I prefer to DIY one from a wide open day. I am most productive on Sundays!

Your Gram has a beautiful smile!
Looks like a great weekend adventure.

Gram’s dollhouse looks amazing! Maybe I missed something, but do you have more information about it? Where it came from? Has it been in the family for a long time? Is it at your mother’s house? What’s the story?
Mom says
It’s a replica made by my mom’s grandfather of his summer home in Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania. It has three levels. You take off the roof and then the next level. I loved playing with it as a child.

I adore your blog. The picture of ,Mazen and your Grandma’s hands are a beautiful picture- beauty and memories. Building sweet memories.
Alissa says
Looks like a perfect visit with family! Do you know where your mom’s sweater is from?
Mom says
My sweater is Crown and Ivy, Belks’s brand. My childhood nickname was Buzz (and that’s what Matt calls me), so I thought it appropriate. Mazen says, “Grammy has a bug on her sweater.”

I LOVE dollhouses! My husband and I own a small dollhouse business. We make our own dollhouses, miniature furniture and accessories, and sell them wholesale. Your grandmother’s dollhouse looks AMAZING! Thank you for sharing the pictures, I truly enjoyed them!

What a great time! I said it before, but your son is just gorgeous.
I am a kinda new follower to your site so you have probably discussed this before and I missed it but I noticed you guys drink wine often haha. Do you drink everyday? If so, do you feel better because of it? I have heard a glass everyday is healthy.
KathEats says
Not everyday. ..but maybe half? I certainly wouldn’t advocate starting to drink daily for health reasons but I dont think drinking a small glass a day is an unhealthy practice.
Angela Teal says
I hear ya. Thanks for the response!

Love those glasses! I finally feel bad for Edith. Mary is a little tart, in my opinion.
Mazen is a handsome little fella!
