With health and immunity at top of mind for most people these days, a probiotic is the one supplement I wholeheartedly believe in.
I eat plenty of yogurt and love kombucha, but I want my GI tract to be in as good shape as possible going into the cold weather seasons.
Routine Probiotics Review
Routine reached out to me about trying their probiotics, and after a peek at their website I knew this would be a good match for me. You can get $10 off your first order with the code KATHEATS : )
Benefits of Routine’s 5 Strains of Probiotics
Improves gut health
One of the most well-studied probiotics, Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 helps increase good bacteria, stimulate digestive hormones, and break down bile salts to help with excretion and toxin elimination—basically, this is the stuff that keeps your GI tract moving and regular
Boosts immunity
Bifidobacterium lactis Bl-04 has been clinically linked to revving up the immune response, reduce the risk of upper respiratory tract infections, and shorten the duration of sickness.
Promotes a balanced metabolism
Bifidobacterium lactis B-420 is instrumental in calorie burn and has been studied and linked to body fat mass decreases. (I had to look up the research on this one – see the summary here.)
Balances vaginal health
Yep, probiotics reach all areas! Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001 and Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14 help keep a healthy vaginal pH, increase beneficial vaginal flora, and create a barrier against yeast infections.
+Ashwagandha for stress and anxiety
This centuries-old adaptogen is one of the most thoroughly studied herbs to support mental health all around – even memory.
What’s In The (Recycled) Box
I’m finding myself wanting to support companies who value sustainability and transparency more and more. (Like Beautycounter and my toilet paper!)
Routine is devoted to minimizing environmental impact through its shipping systems and their transparent quality over quantity approach to ingredients. The capsules are also made with vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO materials.
Here’s what comes in the box:
- Your first order includes a compostable pouch with a one-month supply of probiotics along with a reusable glass storage jar delivered in a recyclable cardboard box.
- Subsequent orders come in a tiny compostable pouch in a compostable mailer so there is no extra, unnecessary packaging.

I recently put my multivitamin on auto-ship and wanted a probiotic to do the same so I could forget about re-ordering. (Just another lifestyle system to automate!)
You can choose a subscription for $29.95 a month or if you want to try it first, a one-time purchase for $39.95.

How Do I Feel?
I have no complaints – which is always a good thing!
I’m not going to say that I feel dramatically different or my visits to the toilet are transformed. (LOL) But I have nothing to complain about in that department : )
Like I said above, I truly believe in the science of probiotics for wellness and immunity, so I will be continuing to take them for the long haul (as do my kids!)
What about you? Do you take a probiotic?
Thanks to Routine for sponsoring this post.

I am very supportive of probiotics and while I do not personally take them, I know many who feel they have great success with their use.
My suggestion is like many supplements to take your own personal health history in consideration.
Ashwaganda can effect and interact with other medications and use of herbs and supplements should be discussed with your own health care provide for safe use.

I tried a probiotic (albeit not quite as advanced as these it seems), and I didn’t notice a difference with my IBS. My PCP and GI both said it isn’t always effective, but I always will consider trying them again at different times to see if it could help! I’m not a one-and-done throw-in-the-towel gal. Thank you for this review. I will keep these in mind. I love the cute jar that they send to store them.

I don’t think you can always feel a difference, but that doesn’t mean it’s not doing its job down there!

What probiotic do your kids take?
Kath Younger says
Mazen’s multi has them in it; and Birch gets Culturelle powder in his smoothies or drinks a few times a week.
