It’s Friday already!? You’re kidding me.
It’s April already!? You’re kidding me.
Time is flying!
After a good night’s rest, I woke up excited for Scottish oats and sunshine!
Topped with Faith’s manna bread, this bowl was divine!
The Manna Mix
- 1/4 cup Scottish oats [ground steel cut oats]
- Lots of water, splash of milk, pinch of salt
- Half banana
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Blue Diamond Almond Butter
- Coconut
- Faith’s manna bread crumbles
Cup half empty…
Since I’m only drinking half a cup of coffee, I’m finding myself not as full after breakfast! It’s quite annoying. Perhaps it’s time to switch to tea. Although tea doesn’t make itself with the flip of a button like coffee does.
The end.
Meg says
Hahaha how clever! I just read your tweet about feeling upside-down too 😉
I cannot believe it’s April either! YIKES to the MAX!!
Dee says
I love the upside down photos! 🙂 Your pictures are so spring-like. So pretty.
JenATX says
these pictures make me dizzy!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
Hilarious.
Happy April Fools Day!
Off to have some upside-down oats of my own…

Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I feel like this week has taken forever, but March flew by — incredible! We only have 3/4 of 2011 left!
tara says
Ha ha ha nice april fools!
I have a question for kath and anyone else who can help. My newborn isnt gaining enough weight so the doc said to go on a high fat diet so I start making whole milk instead of skim. Talk about backwards! What would you eat? I dont want to go overboard on protein since a really high protein diet increases the risk of sids eightfold…..I am not a yogurt or avocado fan.
Aside from evoo, avocados, and nuts…what are some other fatty foods I could eat?
Kath if you were told to do this..what on earth would you do?
B & B says
Fish! Salmon, herring, sardines to name a few. Don’t be afraid of fat. What about yogurt? Get 2% Goat’s yogurt. It’s higher in fat and tastes great. Greek yogurt is good too but it’s higher in protein so not sure if your supposed to have that or not.
…and chocolate is always acceptable right? 😉
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I would say just make small changes where necessary. Full fat yogurt, cheeses, and milk – and don’t forget the ice cream!! 🙂
Summer says
Infants and toddlers should always have full-fat versions of everything unless other prescribed by a pediatrician. So you could also add in whole milk yogurt and cheeses.
Molly says
How old is your newborn? Do you know what his/her percentiles are?
KathEats says
Sardines 🙂
Becca says
Coconut milk and oil! Also drizzle things with flax or hemp oil.
Debbie says
Tara- is your baby getting enough of the rich and fatty hind-milk? The baby doesn’t get the hind milk until after 15 minutes of nursing. The initial fore-milk is mostly carbohydrates. If you aren’t already doing so, perhaps nursing longer on one side or just nurse one side at a time to insure that your baby is getting the richer milk.
Tara says
He only lasts 8 minutes per side 🙁
He is 7 weeks and was 7 lbs 4oz at birth and is now 8 1/2 lbs
(I am seeing a LC for supply issues)
Tara @ Padded Tush Stats says
Thanks guys, keep these suggestions coming. I am stumped! The doc said burgers and french fries and that just isn’t (always) my style! I have NO idea what a typical day of a high fat, 2500 calorie diet would look like. Any thoughts?
mel says
smoothies for snacks are an easy way to add in cals (esp with peanut butter in them) but they don’t make you overly full!!
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
lol, cute pics. 🙂 Have a great Friday!
Kristi @ KristiAteIt says
Your upside down pictures are trippy. Weird! The oats look so fluffy and delicious!
Lauren says
Hi Kath! I am a 15 year old girl who lives in Arlington, VA. You probably don’t want to have dinner with a 15 year old and her family but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to mention it 🙂 -Lauren
B & B says
How is tea longer to make? Just hit the switch on the kettle? 🙂
I want that spoon. Looks so “back in the day” rustic.

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
No kidding about it already being April. I feel like I barely remember March! Maybe it’s because the month was so rainy and grey?
At least it’s finally sunny for the weekend! 🙂

Nice pictures! 🙂
Kat @ Big Apple Little Kitchen says

Can you find any local decaf coffee that you can blend with your caf blend so you still get caffeine but drink a full cup?

I love the upside down pictures! So cool looking!
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
Haha! Cute post! 😀
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I love tea!! I drink it every morning instead of coffee. I’ve got it down to a science, so I know exactly how long it takes the water to boil, then I pour it and let the teabag sit while I finish making my breakfast. I feel like you’d get the system down pat in no time!
Katie says
Upside down kind of day ; ) well no april fools jokes on this post! A lot of bloggers did one, I didn’t , I couldn’t think of any ; )
Happy Friday! I love the bowl too!
Allison @ Happy Tales says

I’m with you- where has winter gone? I’m still singing “Jingle Bell Rock”, and trying to face the fact that christmas season ended four months ago 🙂
Happy day!

Now I have “Jingle Bell Rock” in my head!
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
Your photos are making me crave spring so much, but it’s sleeting right now in NYC! Argh!! Beautiful, yummy pics as always!
Natalia - a side of simple says
These pictures definitely made me a bit dizzy, not gonna lie. I’m feeling the Easter theme with the place setting, though!
Melissa says
Tea actually really does help me feel full! I just run the water through an empty coffee maker and the steeping takes care of itself! Not so tough 😉
Kelley says
Very cute! You’re so creative. 🙂
Stacie @ Imperfectly Healthy says
Like the upside down effect! And that bowl!
Karla says
That gave me total motion sickness.
leatitia says
What about a glass of water while cooking your oatmeal? It might help!
Susan (Oliepants) says
What a perfect post for the beginning of April! 🙂
Cindy says
I’m loving that background!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
I felt upside down when I woke up this mornin’ just like that bowl haha! I love the mat design and the slight peek of the outdoor view overall–CVille just seems like a beauuuutious place full or nature 🙂
Amanda (tomboy that wears makeup) says
Yummy and pretty food pictures
Sandy says
Thought of this with your half full cup. May want to reconsider the size of your cup.
To the optimist, the glass is half full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
KathEats says
Well you might notice that most days I write “cup half full” but since it was upsidedown I wrote half empty on purpose!
Hilary says
Fun upside down pics….very April 1 appropriate!
Emma (Namaste Everyday) says
tea isn’t too much of a hassle! Just keep the bags and mugs RIGHT near the kettle. I also keep the kettle full so that I just have to turn on the heat! Sort of gross, but it boils, right?
lynn @ the actor's diet says
reminds me of my favorite disney cartoon – alice in wonderland!
Melissa @ Journey to Marvelous says
Love the upside down photos…I was totally confused at first…took me a few minutes to remember it was April Fools 🙂
Em says
Hello! Something that may speed up your tea making: place the tea bags in the filter basket (I usually do one bag per two cups) and run your coffee maker as usual…hopes this helps with your coffee conundrum 🙂
Kat @ Cupcake Kat says
Love it! Upside Down Oatmeal- a new April Fool’s Day tradition
Ori says
Just run your coffeemaker without putting coffee grounds in it…..in the morning you’ll have a pot of hot water to pour over a tea bag.
