Good morning and Happy Labor Day! My parents are here to celebrate Mazen’s birthday this week, and before that we hosted The Fannetastics for the night!
On Friday our weather was cold and dreary, and Thomas and I went out to Fuzzy’s Tacos for dinner with Mazen. Tacos and chips and Dos Equis, oh my!
Saturday morning breakfast fun!
Our weather continued to be chilly and wet, so we went to the gym, tidied up the house, and headed to Whole Foods for groceries and lunch.
Mazen and I also had a fashion show so he could try on the 10+ pairs of pants I ordered for him!
Anne and Matt arrived late afternoon, and we had cheese and crackers and drinks before heading out to dinner.
We went to Tavola for dinner.
While there was a little bit of a wait, we got the burrata and some vino in the bar area. (Anne enjoyed a really cool mocktail made of juice and tonic.)
For dinner I had the shrimp with gorgonzola sauce over angel hair. SO delicious!
We shared a cheesecake four ways for dessert : )
On Sunday morning we had pecan swirl toast for a light snack before going on a walk downtown. Great Harvest is still the best place for company bread in town!
On our walk we talked a lot about all that has happened in Cville recently.
We walked by the memorial for Heather, which is covered with dried flowers, notes, chalk messages, and symbols of love <3
Back home we had brunch minus the toast that we ate in advance.
We said farewell to Anne and Matt as they headed out on a hike and turned over the house for my parents, who were on their way! On Sunday afternoon we had Mazen’s 5th birthday party, and I’ll be sharing all the pics from that soon!

Hi Kath,
I am a food lover and seems like I am having trouble with my appetite now. Everything seems to be delicious. What I like most are tacos and that pasta with shrimp (oohh, craving). I think I have to make some research (recipe) how to make that shrimp over pasta and prepare at home. I want it done by myself. Thanks for sharing.
