Here’s a bit of life lately!
Oh Hay!
Man oh man did we have some gorgeous spring weather last week! Highs in the 70s and plenty of sun! This week it’s been colder, but we are rolling into spring full speed ahead!
Speaking of the first day of spring, happy 70th birthday to MY MOM! Here she is looking a few decades younger at the beach last summer. Of course with her last name being Younger, it comes with the territory!
Comedy!
Last weekend we went with a group of friends to see Mark Normand’s comedy show.
We had an early dinner at Zocalo first. I had the salmon and a really tasty Mezcal Negroni!
We loved the opener, local Chris Alan, especially his bits on parenting kids + video games. I wasn’t as crazy about the headliner, but he got some laughs out of me! Thomas absolutely loved him.
We went to a bar after (I didn’t get anything in order to actually sleep!) and then took the after party to Chaps for some birthday cake waffle cones!
On Saturday I hit up my favorite 8:30 workout class and then we took the kids to Thomas’s parents’ house for a sleepover. They helped us out a ton this weekend because we were double booked and our regular sitters were busy. Thanks Nona + Grampa!
I hit up Goodwill to look for a few costume accessories for my concert that night and found these puzzles for $1.99 each!
Pro Re Nata Festivities
We were double booked at Pro Re Nata Brewery in Crozet for the night. First up was Josh’s 40th birthday celebration!
I had a nice little beer, and Thomas and I shared a caesar salad and huge pizza!
Around 7, I went to the other side of the venue for the 90s cover band Brisk! They’re the same band we all dressed up for in January, and we were excited to hear them again. (Spoiler alert, we already have a local April show too!) The music is just too fun!
This night I went as “Clueless meets Britney Spears” with a short skirt, heels, and a black tie. Before I added the tie!
You might notice I had water cups in my hand. I LOVE that PRN has water on tap that is easily accessible. I think I had 7 waters on the dance floor? While I stayed out way too late, I had no hangover after the 2 drinks I had very early in the night. It sure makes a difference when you’re as old as me! Haha.
On Sunday I was tired but felt great for our 5pm soccer game after a little nap!
A W for team Momentum!
Taps On Tap
Speaking of things on tap, Ellen and I took a TAP DANCE CLASS! We both grew up tap dancing, and it was so much fun to remember all the basic steps. We learned a routine at the end and found it perfectly challenging. It had literally been 20 years since I had tapped. It’s so funny how it comes back like riding a bike!
Also on tap: Beautycounter fragrances launch next week on the 26th!!!!! I can’t remember if I have shared that on the blog yet, but the three new scents are AMAZING!!! I am in love with Second Skin as my new signature scent (it’s a floral amber) but Pacific Dreams and Hyper Rose are sooooo nice too. Look out for a blog post all about them next week. They are EWG Verified with sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients too.
I went over to Cramer Photo for a photo shoot to get some good pics to share. I can’t wait to show you more of them!
Pasta Pizza
Have you heard about the pasta pizza trend? Blue Apron sent me a preview of the recipe debuting in the April 8 week plans. It’s like a pizza crust made with cooked pasta!
You first cook the noodles and bake them with parmesan and olive oil until they get sort of crispy.
Then add layers of cheese, sauce, sopressa, and hot honey! Bake some more.
It was so good! Pasta Pizza is available for one week only, on the menu for the week of April 8th! So try it now and get 65% off the first five weeks of your new subscription!

Curious if anyone else has commented on how distracting and busy the ads are on your blog? There are multiple animated ads popping up at the top and bottom (simultaneously) AND they appear mid-feed as you scroll. I read a lot of blogs and none of them are as busy as this. I used to be an avid reader, but lately I rarely click to visit your site off my Feedly because it’s just too chaotic and busy.

I’ll go months with no one saying anything and then I get a few – I think sometimes the settings get shifted around without me knowing. It always helps to send me a screenshot when an ad is overpowering the page because it’s hard for me or the ad network to replicate them. So thanks for the feedback and please send me one if you see it again.

Conversely, I don’t even notice the ads. I think I’m programmed to only put eyes on the content!

Any recommendations for a great birthday gift for moms? My mom turns 70 next month and I’m stumped! Thanks 🙂

I vote for trips and experiences! Theme dinners, spa day, weekend or overnight 🙂
