Happy Monday! What did you do over the weekend? I love to imagine you all in your homes and towns and cities and countries (!) doing all kinds of fun things — farmers’ markets, weddings, parties, pools, beaches, gardens.
On Friday I picked Mazen up from camp on my bike and he immediately got a flat tire! We were about a mile from home, but it was 100 degrees outside (literally) and that would have been a really hot walk for a 4.75 year old. I called a string of four to help us, and Sarah just happened to be nearby and gave Mazen a ride to the house while I biked home as fast as I could.
On Friday evening we laid low and had a quiet night at home. We had plans to go to the pool, but big storms at 5pm postponed our plans. Should have gone because the rest of the night was great! I made a Cook Smarts chorizo dish and watched Nashville. Topped with sour cream and avocado, this was delish!
But let me tell you, this herb-butter chicken and succotash was the BEST Cook Smarts dish I’ve ever made! Strong claim! The sauce was made with butter, paprika, and fresh and dried herbs plus tomatoes from our garden. I am also never buying chicken breasts again because chicken tenders are 100% better in every way. These were great!
Saturday morning I went to a special plyo class on the parking deck at ACAC and joined about 75 other exercise enthusiasts in a hot and sweaty dance party of jumping. It was so much fun, and Chris put on his best playlist to date.
I had toast and coffee before and then T and I went to Mezeh for lunch. I was so hungry, I ate this whole bowl and was too full all afternoon!
We did a little shopping mid-day (!!!!)
Of the ring kind and the grocery kind.
We played a few rounds of Candyland that afternoon. “I hope I don’t get the peanut!!”
Sat evening Thomas and I had a date at the Clifton Inn. It’s so beautiful there!
We wanted to dine on the porch, but it was just sooo hot! So we ended up inside, which was romantic and much cooler. It was Restaurant Week, so we each had three courses! The duck salad and sticky toffee were both amazing.
After dinner, we headed to Sarah’s for her annual summer party. This year’s theme was white and bright. Everyone wore white, and she did such a great job decorating!

On Sunday T and I took a little road trip for an event that I’ll be telling you about soon!

I never knew Candyland was a board game… I only played it as a PC game when I was a kid (it was the BEST game)!

We will be hitting it hard with seed this fall. It’s so dried out right now 🙁

Kath, I love that picture of you in front of the restaurant. The setting, the pose, the colors – you just pop!
But since you asked (haha) my weekend was busy and HOT here in Woodbridge (I think you’be been to my Ikea on occasion 😉 ). I trimmed down a gigantic bush at my new house and produced 18 bags of clippings. Also went to see Dunkirk which was AMAZING (a must see – and Dolby sound is always recommended for me, it’s so immersive). And went to a concert Sunday evening, managing to stay dry until it started to pour as we were walking back to the car 🙂
P.S. I love party posts, so if you or Sarah are ever willing to share deets on party planning/food/decor/prep – bring it on!

I have been to your IKEA : ) It’s been a while though! It was SO hot this weekend, but today 82* feels amazing! (And Sarah is a party queen : ) )

Are you having issues with connecting to Bloglovin? Your blog and another couple I follow stopped posting. Not sure what’s up. Thanks and happy Monday.
KathEats says
Yes I have received several reports of this. I’m actually glad it’s not just me though – that makes me wonder if BlogLovin changed something that they can change back. I’m having my support team look into it. Thanks for the head’s up

I loved ring shopping with Matt!! He was amazing and had already chosen the perfect wedding band to compliment my engagement ring, which was such a relief as I wouldn’t know where to start. We loved choosing his. I’m so excited for you! You look really pretty on your date night!

That sounds like such a fun weekend! We did lots of fun things, but one of the highlights was seeing some live music / having a couple of good local beers at a family-friendly outdoor place yesterday afternoon. I love doing something fun Sunday evening to stretch the weekend a little bit more!

Where are your white pants from? They seem to fit you great. I’m petite as well and have such a hard time finding pants that fit!
Thanks in advance!
KathEats says
Thanks – I just wore them for the first time. They were a gift. They’re very stretchy and comfortable. I believe these are the ones I have (although all cropped pants are ankle length on me 🙂 ) Mine are a size medium.
