A recap of Mazen’s 9th birthday and lifestyle of late!
Happy 9th Birthday, Mazen!
Can’t believe this big guy has been on earth almost a decade.
We celebrated his birthday yesterday at home, and with a few friends and family on Monday at the pool!
He let Birch blow out his candles <3

Story of my life:
A recipe for Mazen:
- A cup of humor
- A dash of clever
- A sprinkle of sweetness
- A pint of wild
- A quart of smarts
- A gallon of energy
- And a large dollop of rebellion 👿
I think he looks just like Birch in this 2015 photo!
He loves STEM, working with his hands, Minecraft, and Legos.
And he’s getting great at the guitar – and baseball!
He’s also the best big brother to his little Birchie, who copies every single thing Mazen does. It’s hard not to break into a smile when they are both being naughty together and giggling in sync.

Happy birthday to Mazen! He is just a few months older than my daughter. I remember reading from my college apartment when you started your blog (!) so it feels crazy that he is turning 9 and that “we” are all this old! Lol!!! He seems like a great kid and that you accept him in all his boyish energy. Happy “9 years plus 9 months” of mothering to you!

Of the photos of Mazen here, what I love most and gives a glimpse into “who” he is, is his hand on Birch’s back holding him steady as Birch is on his knees on the bench, blowing out candles.
Kath Younger says
Yes, his sweet brother voice that he uses when he talks to Birch is so heart warming too!
