=6!
Around noon, when the skies cleared up and the sun came out and the world was irresistible, I went out for a run! I traveled just over 3 miles and had/have the intention of doing 3 more on the walk two and from the bakery! I love it when I can split my time between walking and running to meet a sixer goal.
I walked down in time for a late lunch and to have some of our special sandwich!!!
Smoked salmon + Dill Cream Cheese + Veg on Potato Sourdough.
This was incredible!!
Pikal and honeycrisp on the side
I had the latest Chocolate Brownie Bread to taste test after eating the healthy components of my meal
Comes in teacakes and heart shapes! Tastes like devil’s food chocolate – heavenly!
But the debate is up which is more delicious – CBB or the Chocolate Bliss cookie, which is like a sticky brownie cookie. It’s a toss up!
‘Tis the month of chocolate love.
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
I would eat that whole teacake. I’d also dip it in coffee. Now I want chocolate.
Kinley @ Better Off Barefoot says
Oh, wow. I think I just dripped drool on my keyboard looking at the pictures of that chocolate bread… oops!

Must visit soon! Chocolove <3

My parents are heading through Charlottesville right now, and I told them that they MUST stop into the bakery! I know they would both love that smoked salmon sandwich!! Great addition to your list.
Joanne says
I love chocolate bread! The first chocolate bread I ever had was at the CA Raisin Bread contest two years ago. It was the grand prize winner and WOW! – it sure deserved it.

Love when I can get a bunch of exercise in smaller amounts. One weekend, I went for a long 8 mile run, and then proceeded to get lost walking around with my boyfriend looking for somewhere to eat lunch. I’m pretty sure I accidentally covered around 12-15 miles that day. Needless to say, I wolfed down lunch 🙂
Sarah (I Dream of Beets) says
Oh my goodness, that bread looks delicious, and I miss bread!
Melissa @ Journey to Marvelous says

Jen on the Edge says
I popped over to the bakery this morning after yoga and the guy in the blue shirt in the photo was super nice and super helpful. He gave me a slice of still-warm bread while I pondered my options and ultimately convinced me that my girls really needed pumpkin muffins for their after-school snack. 🙂
Karen says
…proof that Alex is as lovely as he seems in his photos! 🙂
KathEats says
Thanks for stopping by Jen! Sorry to have missed you. That Alex is a sweet one! Hope the muffins were devoured 🙂

Megan says
This post made me even happier that the Great Harvest near me opens tomorrow!!!
KathEats says
Yay!! Plano, TX?
Megan says
Yes!!! While I was in college, there was one open in walking distance, but they closed years ago and I have been without Great Harvest for TOO LONG!
Lindsay McAlester says
Ooohhh! So close to me! I had no idea. 🙂 Yipppeee!
Jennifer says
GH Columbia is the bakery I go to and that Brownie Bread is sooooo GOOD!! I’m gonna have to go and buy another loaf!
KathEats says
Columbia, MD? If so, please tell Jane + Kris we said hello!
Jennifer says
Yep that’s the one! I will let them know!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
That’s the closest GH to me- and I’m all the way in Frederick! I ate there once it was very good!
Jennifer says
Yeah I live up in White Marsh but Columbia is the closest to me too. I stock up each time I go!
kate says
Hi Kath,
Are you taking a break from Body Pump? Just curious.
KathEats says
No, I was just there on Monday? Blogged about Rihanna and our fun lunge track?(https://www.katheats.com/scrambled). Why would you think I’m taking a break?
kate says
I must have missed the Monday post. It just seemed like it had been awhile and I was wondering if you had stopped going. I quit because I felt like it was making me bulk up. It’s a fun class, I cannot deny it that!
Have a good night!
KathEats says
Oh sorry! I’m still loving it. I don’t think I’ve bulked up too much, but definitely stronger! I can do tons of pushups now.
Mary Frances says
Tons of pushups… just like the First Lady, Michelle Obama! You should write to her about visiting your Great Harvest and bring along those cute little Elementary School children you recently presented to as part of her Let’s Move and Living and Eating Well Campaign. I’ll bet the children would enjoy the field trip! You could be one of her poster models.
Kelly @ Foodie Fiasco says
Mmm…chocolate…
Six miles is a great mileage! Congrats!
Sarah @ The Strength of Faith says
If you wanted to mail some to MA I could help you with that debate!
Kerry @ Totes My Oats says
Oh how I love chocolate.. I want a bite of your last photo! Totally making something chocolate-y for dessert tonight!

Ann says
Pikal? I think you meant to say pickle?!
KathEats says
Pikal! It’s a joke Matt and I have – based off of the mesoamerican site Tikal (pronounced Ti-call but we used to call it “tickle”)
Khushboo says
Potato sourdough bread?? wow!
Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles says
Every month is the month of chocolate love, if you ask me!
Clizia says
Omg that brownie bread looks amazing!!! I wish we had Great Harvest in the UK 🙁
kate says
Seems like you use your site as a marketing sales pitch for GH . Do you need to show every product
KathEats says
I don’t show even close to every product – just the new and exciting ones featured for the month. Most people have asked me to share more about bakery happenings.
This kind of goes with Young House Love’s recent post – you have to just write about what makes sense to you because no one will be happy –
More bakery! Less bakery!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I love seeing what you have at the Bakery, and I’m sure most of your readers do! Keep sharing. 🙂
Mary Frances says
I love your blog just the way it is (and has been), especially when you share products from anywhere and everywhere. It opens up a whole new perspective. Be yourself, and keep it coming. There are things in life that are just there and when it does not serve a purpose for someone they skip over it. To Kate (both), maybe if you look at it this way, you can still enjoy the rest of the blog. Think of it as when people watch a television program and use the commercial time to get up and go do something else real quick (well, except for the SuperBowl of course). Just skip over parts in life that don’t appeal to you and enjoy the rest. Life is too short, be positive! Thanks Kath for being you and sharing what you do.
Cori says
you should do a giveaway of some of your favorite bread choices 🙂 You kill me with all of these bread pictures! I went to my local great harvest and it’s really good, but not nearly as creative as your seems to be.
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
The chocolate brownie bread looks delicious!
kate says
Just wanted to say that overall I enjoy your website. I didn’t mean to be negative, but just thought this entry looked more like a marketing pitch
kate says
we are two different kates, btw.
[New Balance] Nicole says
Oh man, your sandwiches always make me want them!! YUM. And that chocolate bread sounds amazing!
~Christy says
Chocolate Bliss…definitely the bliss…I mean, come on, it’s CALLED BLISS! 🙂 Again, your sammy looks heavenly! Must be lunch time… 😉
Life's a Bowl says
Bread and chocolate, two of my fave things! How about toasted and torn up, served a la mode, and topped with some strawberries… YUM!!!
Lexi @ Cura Personalis Foodie says
No need to pick between the two. A bit of both 😉
