As the eye hits the Carolina + Virginia coasts…I took a snooze. Just a 20 minute one – but I felt a lot better when I woke up.
Next up was lunch, followed by some cleaning and grocery shopping in preparation for tonight’s dinner party.
Salad topped with egg (the best lunch!)
This egg did a lot more running than I did today 😳
And a cup of leftover soup topped with a few “croutons”
Pretty much just hunks of fresh Cville Crunch : )
Whole Foods was bumpin’ and I’m really thinking about doing that yoga now. I absolutely hate doing yoga in our living room. It’s so not comfortable. Maybe I’ll try it in our bedroom – if I can find enough space for a warrior III!

Kath,
You are such a great healthy role model! I love your blog so much!!
KathEats says
Thank you Laurie!
Khushboo says
I tried at home yoga but the space issue really interfered with my ‘zen’- hope you manage to bust out a few warriors & downward dogs!
Alexis says
Wish my life was as balanced as yours. Have a great day.
Mauimandy@The Grains of Paradise says
Been watching the storm on TV all morning….Looks like a lot of water out there! I should really get out of my living room and go enjoy the sunshine. It’s a near picture perfect day but all that weather on the east coast totally fasinates me.
Cait's Plate says
Finding enough space for Warrior II is always my marker for whether or not there’s a enough space for yoga! Haha.
The place in my house just happens to be my living room – but I don’t mind it so much.
Glad you got a nap in – sometimes a power nap is all you need to make a HUGE difference 🙂
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
I’m going to jump on board and think about the nap thing too….
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Living room, or garage, or bedroom yoga…ahh, well, not exactly like a studio experience but over the years I have come to relish being able to do it at home. After having a baby, schedules being hard, not wanting to wake the baby to go to a class, not having the desire to go one when ‘they’ were offering it or the budget, being able to do at-home yoga was the best gift i ‘gave’ myself about 5 yrs ago and now…i prefer it!
I bet in your new house you’ll find a great space to practice in.
Pretty!!! food pics too 🙂
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I don’t really like doing yoga at home either- I need the motivation of being with other people!
Baking N Books says
Kath – how do you make that egg? Looks perfect. I usually just hard-boil.
There’s no space in my bedroom for yoga! I have a mat in front of the TV rolled out in front of my (very open) window. It faces the other apartment complexes and there’s 2 little kids who are always staring at me from their own window with faces pressed against the panes…very unnerving!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I’ve never done yoga anywhere but home so I’m used to it. I would love to try a studio though one day!
Rachel says
Hey I had a salad w/ and egg on it for lunch too! I love your croutons : )
Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) says
Runny egg yolk makes the best dressing 🙂
Keep us abreast of the hurricane situation!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
The egg looks great. Perfectly drippy. 🙂
I have friends in New Bern, NC – they lost power around 8:30pm last night; and it was raining INTO their house earlier today. Not good. 🙁
Not a drop of rain here in Charlotte… was hoping we’d at least get a little for my garden!

Hey Kath! Love your blog! I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about how you plan your meals for the week? I’m a student without much free time and def. need help in that area!!
Do you pick recipes in advance or see what’s on sale at the store and then decide what you’ll make? How much planning is just checking the fridge before a meal and coming up with something creative on the spot? Take care!!
KathEats says
I’m doing to write a post about this sometime soon.
I think in terms of building blocks – whole grains, proteins, veggies, fruits, dairy and get X many of each at the grocery store. Then I mix and match based on my mood and appetite at the moment before each meal.
daphna says
Thanks so much for the info! That seems like a great way to plan, that way you always have a nice variety of stuff to choose from. I can’t wait for your post! I’m curious if you have any previous post(s) that are helpful for packing a school lunch/snacks for a long day, maybe during you RD days?
KathEats says
I have lots of lunch packing posts, but none of them are all-in-one. But if you look for any M-F lunch from January – July 2010 you can see what I packed!
daphna says
Great, thanks so much!! So helpful!!!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I’m loving this egg on top of a salad idea, I’ll have to try it on the weekend since that would be hard to do at school! and I do yoga in my bedroom… which is also my living room. Haha, loving studio apartment life!
Sabrina says
Sounds like a great day! Stay safe.
Angel7 says
Is the Cville Crunch bread your fave? If not, which one is your fave? I am sure that it is hard to choose.

I think I’m going to have to do a DVD workout today too… though I have to be honest, I REALLY WANT TO GO RUN OUTSIDE IN THE RAIN. How much fun would that be? Plus a little wind resistance, woop woop, lol. Enjoy your workout!
Emily@SavoryandSavage says
I love a runny egg on top of anything.
I always do yoga in my living room but I do have to move the couch((
Sara says
I decided to hit our Whole Foods on the way home from the gym b/c I was really hungry – and so glad I did – turns out they were closing at 3:30 today until Monday b/c of the storm. I stocked up!
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Hope you feel better! And look at you, having a dinner party… Is Irene invited? 🙂 Love your runny egg salads. So scrumptious!
KathEats says
Haha. She is not. She is not cool enough.
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
I am not a fan of at home yoga period. I get bored easily and have a more difficult time turning off my thoughts and focusing on my body.
Robyn says
i just finished at 75 minute dave farmar podcast and loved it with all the rain pattering on my window! you won’t regret it once you finish feeling like jello 🙂
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I can never really get into the zone when I do yoga inside at my house. I have to take it outside to really get into it!
Sana says
Dinner party? You and Matt know how to throw a hurricane party!!
katie @KatieDid says
People must have been stocking up for the impending storm! Have a fun dinner party!

You make such a simple salad look so good! I gotta try a runny egg on top one day [soon]! Maybe you’ll enjoy doing yoga in your bedroom in your new house- soon 😀
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Love the runny egg pics! Yum 🙂
Natalie says
Oh, I’m intrigued by the egg on the salad idea. My husband swears by eggs on burgers. That just always grosses me out. I could try it on a salad though…
Irene is just starting to hit us here in NYC! Catching up on some blog reading while we still have power. 🙂
Love your blog!
Sweet and Savvy says
I loveeee eggs on salad- but I never think to do it at home.
Christine (The Raw Project) says
The salad looks wonderful. I always feel so awkward trying to do yoga at home too.
Hannah says
I just had a poached egg on caesar salad the other night. Yours was better cooked – mine was almost hard the way through 🙁
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
Mmm..your lunch looks delicious!
Lisa | Life in Green says
Lunch looks delish.
Thankfully I have plenty of living room space for yoga…though its not on carpet which is not my fav. Anywhere I do it I always like to have enough room to open my legs out in Hand-to-Big Toe pose…no fun hitting the wall or furniture with your legs 🙂
Lisa | Life in Green says
whoops I mean it IS on carpet which is not my fav
Katherina @ Zephyr Runs says
Hah I read this post before and didn’t notice the title. <3 I wish Harry Potter lasted foreverrrr
