Good morning friends! Just another day in paradise…that is a gray sky fall-like paradise. I could do with a splash more sun, but the sky is dry so far so I’ll take it.
Despite the oatmeal weather, I made a smoothie – a heapin’ helpin’ of The Cluster was callin’ my name!
Raspberry Banana
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup raw rolled oats
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Cville Cluster
- Sunflower Buttah
Golden Moon’s Coconut Pouchong is the best non-black tea I’ve had – and the most coconutty! Even more so than the Adagio I’ve been loving! Golden Moon is an OpenSky candidate (coming soon in a trio of ‘dessert’ teas!) and Adagio is one I bought myself. Love them both!
Happy Hump Day!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I love a good granola in a smoothie! And I <3 pink, so I am lovin' this b-fast combo<–thanks for sharing 🙂
Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well says
Happy hump day to you too! I’m hoping the rain holds off as well, but it isn’t looking good for the week!
I’m headed your way on Friday. My mom and I are flying out of the C-ville airport to go visit family in Minnesota. I might have to stop by the bakery if we get down there in time!
KathEats says
Oh please do!
Molly @ RDexposed says
I tasted out sunflower butter at work last week to the dietitians which none had had. It was an instant hit! Now I keep it at home all for myself.
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
The ENTIRE EAST COAST is going to have crap tastic weather this week. Bummer.
megan @ whatmegansmaking says
Just wanted to say that I love all your pretty and unique bowls! You’ve inspired me to eat off of my fun “photography” dishes more often 🙂
KathEats says
Thanks!
Deirdre says
Hey Kath~
Do you know of any other food bloggers that go to UVA or live in Cville? I’d love to form a Club or have a lunch with us Cavalier foodies!
Thanks!
KathEats says
Yeah a few! I don’t know any UVA students with blogs, but there are a handful of food bloggers here. I’m going to try out a meeting called Sheblogs the second Tuesday of October. Check out their facebook page too.
Katie says
I got cold just looking at your pictures! This morning was definitely oatmea/oat branl (which included warm cinnamon apples, pears, blackberries, GH cashew butter) weather here, but it’s supposed to warm up to 70. I’ll definitely enjoy some yogurt and granola later in the day. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Beautifully pink smoothie to brighten your morning!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
We have gray skies here too — kind of gloomy which I like!

Kelsey @ Living the Gluten Free Life says
I was thinking of having a smoothie for breakfast but it ended up being too cold for me :(. Plus, I’m out of granola!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I love that bowl! I went with oatmeal this morning, just to blah out for anything else!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I love dessert-y teas too. Lipton used to make a caramel one that I absolutely adored, as well as vanilla hazelnut, but I can’t find them any more. 🙁 Have a great day Kath!
Stephanie @ Myfarmersmarketonline says
Looks yum! I’m trying to cut back on coffee and am trying new teas. I’ll see if I can pick this one up. I LOVE coconut! Great taste, plus wonderful health benefits. Oh, I love the bowl!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Pretty color!! I made my first hot oats of the season this morning – a welcome return!
Cait's Plate says
I almost had the EXACT same thing (though yogurt, not a smoothie) and made the switch over to oatmeal at the very last moment. Now I’m jealous of yours and have a sinking suspicion I know what I’ll be having tomorrow 🙂
Susie says
Oh my goodness! I love that bowl. Where did you find it?
KathEats says
It was made by a family friend: http://www.etsy.com/shop/AmongNewHorizons

And when you switch from oatmeal, I’m breaking out the steel cut oats for the first time in ages.
Have a good one!

The berry/banana combo for smoothies is unbeatable!

Oooh, I love the kick of colour in your smoothie. It looks great! I’m also hanging on to the summer flavours. As much as I love Fall (and am excited for it) I don’t want to say goodbye to summer quite yet 🙂

I still need to try a smoothie in a bowl! I’m thinking a light sprinkling of our Kellogg’s FiberPlus(R) Caramel Pecan Crunch would be oh so good.

Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
I love your mug! 🙂
Kathy says
Kath, I’d like to do smoothies in the morning because I have no appetite. But my sensitivity to food in general is high and worry about overcomplicating the smoothie. What is a good one? And what is a good midmorning snack?
I eat a lot of nuts for snacks (30 almonds for example at once with fruit and other things). Maybe too many?
KathEats says
I would do a blend of milk (protein) and fruit like banana and frozen berries (carbs) and add a little whole grains or your nuts (fat) for crunch on top. Keep it simple.
Kathy says
Thanks. I’m trying to find something at 350-400 + calories for breakfast. I’m having trouble getting in calories for the day (around 21-2200 calories at this time). I usually eat 6 times per day, perhaps this is too much?
RunEatRepeat says
I use a big ol’ soup or fro-yo spoon for SIAB. Love that mug 🙂
genevieve says
I keep seeing chia seeds everywhere! What in the world do they taste like/where do you get them? This looks delicious!
KathEats says
They don’t have much of a taste – kinda like bland poppyseeds? Look for them at whole foods in the spices
deva @ deva by definition says
I love the color of your smoothie – so bubble-gum pink! I woke up to rain pitter-pattering on my rooftop AND I had an almost-done jar of almond butter, so I had OIAJ this morning 🙂
Felicia (Natural + Balanced) says
always loving your pottery 🙂 had a smoothie too, just wasn’t as pretty!
christine @ oatmeal in my bowl says
I love how all the colors – the mug, the bowl, the delicious smoothie, the place mat – compliment each other. And I am missing my tea this morning… need to go shopping. Yours looks yummy.
Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth says
What do you mean by ‘hump day”? “Hump” in England is slang for having s*x which I assume you are not wishing everyone. Or maybe you are 🙂
KathEats says
Haha – hump is also slang for Wednesday – like over the hump of the bell curve week. But it also means sex here too so it’s always kind of funny to say
Christena says
LOL

You make the teas sound so extra good and delicious~! Oh, have you ever tried the teas from TEAVANA? Not sure if you guys have it around your area. But if you ever do check ’em out, make sure you try the orange blossom and yerba mate mixes! But really, almost everything they have is good. 🙂
KathEats says
I have tried a few of theirs in the mall – good!

I was on FG checking a submission of mine from yesterday and noticed our submissions were 1 digit apart and we were side by side on their page. Congrats on your accept 🙂
KathEats says
🙂 They haven’t liked many of mine lately!
Laura says
How did you actually make this? Did you just put the fruit, oats, and milk in the pot and make that way?
KathEats says
Oh no – it was just a smoothie!! Put all ingredients in blender (except the toppings) and blend away
Laura says
LOL duh! I thought it looked really smooth. Looks tasty, thanks.
Laura says
PS. I read it over and realized you said smoothie. Clearly I scrolled too quickly and missed that sentence the first time.
Lisa @ Life in Green says
