The afternoon was filled with more fun and games!
I attended a session on Blogging Gadgets – all things cell phone, digital camera, laptop and video camera. Cool stuff!!
Then I meandered through the expo hall some more and was recognized by my contact at the Mushroom Channel! Can’t wait to develop some more ‘shroom recipes 😉
Then I bumped into Mrs. Potato Head!
And found the Quaker Oats booth! Check out my canister jet pack!! I totally told them I should be their spokesblogger and I’d wear this jet pack all over the country promoting oatmeal!!!
While at Quaker I tried a mocha cream smoothie sample made with oats. Mmmmm.
Then I found a kiwi booth and demonstrated to some other bloggers just how good the fur is 😉
I filled my Greenworks tote with a few more things. Isn’t this tote beautiful!?
I was actually recognized by two of my readers today!!! It’s been so cool to have people turn to me and say “Oh my gosh you’re Kath!” Hello to Rebecca and Jennifer. (And more that I didn’t get your cards!!)
BlogHer snacktime!! All things trail mix. I had a few nuts from Jenn’s bowl during the keynote.
The closing keynote was awesome. Bloggers reading their hilarious and emotional posts on all kinds of topics, serious and trivial. My favorite was Knotty Yarn’s story of a tampon getting stuck 😳 But others were simply beautiful and moving.
Then it was party time!!
I have to say I was very disappointed in the cocktail party 🙁 Last year they had it in a velvet plush lounge with a full dinner buffet. This year the drinks were good, but all the food was fried and the only entertainment was karoke. I HATE karoke 🙁
I did find a non-fried passed app
And had those with a crabcake
I met back up with Jenn and we had some Frei Bros Chardonnay!
And look who we stumbled upon: Sarah of Stonyfield!!!! I talk to Sarah a lot since we’ve been planning the Summit and it was a pleasure to meet her. Turns out I’ve been saying “Oikos” wrong!! I say “okeey-ose” and it’s really “oy-kos”!! Like rhymes with “toy toast.” Whoops! It was great talking to Sarah in person – kind of like talking to Santa Claus!? Especially since she gave us some Stonyfield swag in the form of Oikos coupons 🙂 I passed a bunch of them out as I met people at the parties tonight!
We also got into a discussion about Oikos Blueberry and Sarah told us a story about how she traveled to Quebec to see where Stonyfield gets their wild organic blueberries and told us about this video: Where does Stonyfield get its blueberries?. She said the countryside is beautiful and people go to great efforts to pick the berries. Certainly makes me want to appreciate the blueberry flavor more!
After meeting Sarah we found Sahar and MizFit!
And quickly grabbed a handful of fried food. This is probably my least nutritious dinner of the year! But at least it was filling enough.
We got some Izze cocktails too, which were weak, but tasty.
And a Riesling before we left for another party with the “cool” girls (see above 🙂 )
OMG – MIZFIT’s LEG!!!!!! It’s all Dr. Seuss. How cool is that?!!?
Feeling a little tipsy from the wine, we waited in a line for a super exclusive party for almost 45 minutes.
I enjoyed talking to Casey of Moosh In Indy. I heard her speak at BlogHer last year!!
We heard rumors attendees would be getting super cool HP equipment, but that was no so 🙁
I grabbed a cocktail upon entering, but I didn’t have much…
There was a buffet of foods –
Including a chocolate fountain!
I made a small plate, but didn’t finish it all. Jenn and I both agreed that we were not feeling satisfied all night from the lame cocktail party food and just wanted to keep eating for the fun of it.
BlogHer is infamous for tons of spinoff parties, mostly sponsored by the mommy bloggers. Jenn and I found a princess party with drinks and cookies sponsored by Winesisterhood.com.
How cute are these cookies!?
But MY GOSH THEY WERE DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had 3 🙂
And I had two kinds of wine that I sipped but didn’t finish
We had fun chatting with the Sprindpad ladies!
Another chocolate fountain appeared!!!
I couldn’t resist another cookie dipped in (this was #3, not 4)
So now that I had a dinner of fried foods, cookies and wine, it’s time for bed!!! I drank too much, but I’m loving my new water bottle, so hopefully all will be well for my 6:26 wake up call. I’m planning to visit the hotel gym or go for a run.
BlogHer rocks!

Sorry the party was so bad 🙁
I have been pronouncing Oikos wrong as well. I was pronouncing it the way you have. I guess that is a southern thing 😉
Susan says
Too many good things in this post!! Blogging gadgets, chocolate fountains, Mizfits 😛
Wow, I can only imagine what the food was like if your dinner plate was the best you could scrounge up. I wonder why they chose fried foods? Have fun working out with your new water bottle this morning!! 😉
Andee (Runtolive) says
How fun! That’s too bad about the food though, I hate it when there aren’t that many choices to pick from, esp if they’re not that healthy
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
The chocolate dipped cookie totally makes the whole day! lol Love it. 🙂

Jeez, that cocktail party was kinda lame with all the fried food, but I know you’ll make up for it. Hope you’re feeling great this morning!

So many things!!!

Haha, I was saying Oikos wrong too! I would say “Oh-cose” (like Oh close). Glad I know how to say it right now! 😉
Deva says
It looks like you had fun! I can’t believe they had just fried foods at the cocktail party, that makes me a little sad – I like fresh foods with cocktails – they’re lighter!
Sheri says
Looks like you had a fun evening! Ha, I also was saying Oikos wrong too! I was saying it like you! Glad I know the right way now.

Looks like you are having a blast! What a treat to meet all of those fabulous ladies, and for them to meet you!
Jean says
What a cool day!!!!!!!!! And your eats do look awful. 🙂 I don’t think I’ve EVER said that before about your stuff! Fried foods are just a major turnoff. The trail mix bar looked great, so did the oats and kiwi!
And I learned I say Oikios wrong as well!
Jocelyn says
its interesting that the blueberries come from Canada for stonyfield yogurt (oikos) yet we can’t get that type of the greek yogurt here in Canada…
The Dallas Celiac says
You would have thought BlogHer, with all the healthy-eating blogs, would have had a healthier spread of appetizers.
The Mommy party looked great! Enjoy!
Jen Papaya says
Hey Kath!
Looks like you’re having a blast at BlogHer! I would be a lot more jealous if I didn’t know we’re going to have TWICE as much fun at the Healthy Living Summit!!! : )
Random thing…I remember reading about how all you got out of your garden was tomatoes because all the deer were eating your food…and when I came across this article in Better Homes & Gardens, I though of you.
Check out the online article here:
http://www.bhg.com/gardening/pests/animal/the-top-deer-resistant-plants-for-your-region/
It’s all about what plants to plant so that deer don’t eat your garden, by region where you live. We don’t have much of a deer problem up here on Long Island, but I hope it helps you out for next year!
Enjoy the rest of your trip!!
Daria (Summer of the CSAs) says
Too bad dinner was disappointing. Everything else looks great though! Hope the rest of the trip is good. 🙂
Jess says
I love the princess party – so fun!
Blogher looks like a blast – I really want to go next year! 🙂
